Karissa Chmil replied to the topic What is a good character ☠️ Death ☠️ in the forum Characters 1 year, 10 months ago
Not gonna lie, I read the title of this forum as “What is a good character? Death.” and had to take multiple double-takes. XDBut yes, great thoughts, everyone. XD I’m just going to lurk in the shadows and watch, since everyone’s said what I’d say (especially @gwyndalf-the-wise – lovely list, lovely list).

Yep, I am! Same name and profile picture. (And yep, YWW stands for “Young Writer’s Workshop”, and it’s pretty amazing. XP)

Ahhh, congrats! *throws confetti* This looks amazing! (Wix all the way, in my opinion – I’ve heard that WordPress is great if you’re doing a blog, but I managed to do one on Wix with no problems, and the website design features on Wix are so much easier to use. xD)

Karissa Chmil replied to the topic The Differences between Villans/Antagonists? in the forum Characters 1 year, 10 months ago
I’d say that an antagonist is the opposite of a protagnoist, whereas a villain is the opposite of a hero. The protagonist is the character the reader’s supposed to be rooting for, and that makes the antagonist anyone who gets in the way of the protagonist’s goals. A hero, on the other hand, is the good-hearted, morally-centered character who wants…[Read more]

Traditional publishing. A traditional publisher won’t charge you anything, they’ll only take a cut of the profit when your book sells. Spending money on marketing would be the only expense.
Yes, I used KDP. I tried IngramSpark for my last book and gave up because it was such a pain and way more expensive, so I went back to KDP.…[Read more]

M’kay, KP is liable to eat my post if I try to put links in it, so I’m going to lay everything out and then post individual links to each post I reference. I apologize in advance for how obnoxious that is, lol.
If you’d rather save money than time and you want a great-quality end result, traditional publishing is the way you…[Read more]

@freedomwriter76 Lol wait till you learn about Linear Algebra (though you probably won’t, that’s my cross to bear).
Aww, thank you for the prayers! Yeah, nah, my friends are like that to me as well, except even more harsh, though I know it’s cuz they care about me.
Yeah, can’t wait to talk to you more too!

@felicity That sounds really good! I’d love to try it someday!
@lewilliams Eyyyyyyy there’s that familiar platypus profile picture! Good to see you too! Life is. Kind of a roller-coaster, I have a really busy semester ahead of me and I’m not sure how I’m going to balance writing with it, but we’ll see. How are you?

@sarafini Yes! Stories definitely get easier the more you do. Hey, novelettes and novellas are impressive! I’ve done very few of those.

@loopylin I believe horror has supernatural elements whereas thriller is more of a crime thing, like the difference between a ghost and a killer. The premise of your story sounds a lot like Bendy and the Ink Machine, but I would totally read it!
Aye, I believe you can also finish a book one day!

@loopylin Hey there! Another Lin! Yeah, Alice in Wonderland is definitely on the surreal side and is One of The Books Of All Time. Oo, you do horror too? I have some half-written short stories that try to be a bit on the horror side, but I feel like a lot of mine edge on thriller instead.
I do have several finished books, but nothing published…[Read more]

@esther-c Whoa, that’s really long! I really struggle with writing long works, lol. I always barely meet whatever word count I want them to be.
