@LifeofKatie I’ve probably told you before and @Daeus already mentioned it, but—LES MIS OF COURSE. Seriously. 😀
Read any of the Scarlet Pimpernel books?
North and South—Elizabeth Gaskell (Really good period drama. BBC’s miniseries of it is just as good.)
A Tale of Two Cities of course. 🙂
The Ball and the Cross—Chesterton
Rolf and the…[Read more]

Ok, my top recommendations are these:
The Count of Monte Cristo — my all time favorite novel. It’s huge, but well worth every page. It’s historical fiction and high drama.
Cry The Beloved Country — The best explicitly Christian novel I’ve ever read. It’s very deep and very moving. It’s got heart for sure.
A Tale of Two Cities –…[Read more]

Umm….
The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan is a medieval fantasy. (not sure if you’ve read that)
In Search of Honor by Donnalynn Hess is about the French Revolution
Ummm…
Johnny Tremain by Elizabeth Forbes
I’m sure if you asked @daeus he’d have you read the Count of Monte Crisco. -

@daughteroftheking @kate-flournoy @lifeofkatie @daeus Thanks. I had a blast writing that Jedi poem with my brother.
@daeus. Yeah, rhythm is my biggest enemy. I never actually sat down and worked it out and perfected it. I made a couple of the changes you suggested, and am working on some others. Actually,
‘The brook is thawed and whispers…[Read more] -

@lifeofkatie When I first took lessons, learning to strum and the chords, my teacher taught me how to read music with the guitar. Now, if I want to learn something, I’ll usually just pull up sheet music on the internet. That, or I’ll try to do it by ear. I did Misty Mountains and the Edge of Night by ear, though I usually need sheet music. 😛 Now,…[Read more]

@lifeofkatie Ah, gotcha. It’s always nice to have something in memory cause that way if someone comes along and sticks a guitar in your hand and says, “Hey. Randomly play something impressive,” you can do that. 😛 Which songs do you like to memorize? The few fingerstyle songs I have memorized are Fur Elise, the Swallowtail Jig, Misty Mountains,…[Read more]

@lifeofkatie 7 years! Nice! I’ve only been playing for 3ish, but I love it so much. I’ve been playing with my teen band for church, and just started picking up lessons again.
Fingerstyle is so beautiful. It’s so fun to play it. Do you read tablature or do you read music for the guitar? I especially enjoy just messing around on the guitar and…[Read more] - Load More
