You know you’re a writer when a conversation with your family goes like this (after watching a well-written show):
My brothers: “I love this show! It’s so cool!”
Me: “Yes, the backstory is really awesome and their story/character arcs are very good. So is the character development. The writers of this show did a good job with the plot.”
My…[Read more]

Yep that was the plan. That’s why I introduced plot points such as the other members of the imperial family, the history of the empire, the assassin etc. because they will be relevant to the ‘adventure’ part of things.
But not everything was linking up and making sense. That’s why I have been stuck on this story for a long time and I…[Read more]

@skredder ~ yup! They kinda got me started on mysteries, I think… I read all the ones at our library, then whatever ones I could get my hands on. It was so disappointing to find out that they aren’t all by the same author!! That made me mad!
@kaya-young ~ ya, cows are awesome. I’ve seen pics of the miniature ones… they’re so cute! Especially…[Read more]

Glad you liked it!
My original idea was a sort of Man vs God thing. It draws upon the belief that our lives are ruled by “Fate” that was prevalent in ancient China.
Basically the setting is a story world where “Fate” appears to cause lots of silly love stories to happen and the “Rules” are basically just all the…[Read more]

@kaya-young Yes, I guess it could be. 🙂 I assumed since the guy wrote them, that they were his ideas of how the world ought to work, but they could be the actual rules and he just discovered them.
Are you writing right now? There are so many people on hiatus right now I couldn’t think who to tag, but I’m on Writers’ Corner and so far have w…[Read more]

@kaya-young I pictured the Rules of Fate as more of someone’s silly idea of what they should be, or what generally happens as a sort of “poetic justice,” not some actual rules of the universe. @valtmy is that correct?
By the way, I thought it was very funny and cute. 🙂 I like it.

I just made a serious mistake: Not everyone wants to, or is able to, submit their entries on the doc! So I will allow you to submit it here. In fact, I think it’s best if you submit it here.
Submit this information:

Species: (Can be human. Or anything else…)
Appearance:

It was noon. The public Easter worship service at the castle Regnis had recently come to a close. Creamy clouds slid across the sky, and The Raspberry Sun shone upon the Kingdom of Pen, bringing refreshing warmth.

My current WIP is the longest book I’ve ever written (still 1st draft). I’m expanding a story I had previously written. It’s a lot of fun! Right now, it is called A Candle in the Window–historical fiction (1800s Indiana)/romance novel.
I personally do not like to draw. My sisters love it, though, and they’re really good–a lot better than what I…[Read more]

Hi all. This seems like such a pitiful prayer request and I hate to bother y’all.
My family organizes an art competition every year, and every year I play the background music on the piano. Guys, I get SO NERVOUS ABOUT THESE THINGS! I am such an introvert and I hate performing of any kind. I remember one year being so nervous that I felt like I…[Read more]

@rochellaine It’s totally fine 😉 When you sign up you can join a cabin (which is optional) where you can talk with other writers, and you can set up your profile. It also has a stats page which is really cool because it keeps track of all your progress and stuff.
