@kathleenramm This was probably a bad idea.

This an incredible idea!
For a while now, I have collected bits and pieces that feel like they ought to be in my story, but I never knew exactly what I could do with them! Yes, if or when I finish it, I’ll definitely share it!Also, such an awesome idea! I’ll probably definitely be making one.

@kathleenramm Do I have to have…finished the book?
I remember starting the Penderwick Papers…I dunno if I ever finished it. Maybe, maybe not. Anyway, I started it right after reading Oliver Twist so I really couldn’t stomach all the rich people and parties and stuff like that…
Okay, as for one I actually read all the way through, I didn’t…[Read more]

@devastate-lasting Thank you! To sum it up in a sentence, my WIP’s about two brothers, retainers to an exiled ruler, who have to save the nation from evil creatures while also dealing with a civil war. It’s been great creating different character dynamics and relationships that comes out in the dialogue, but I’ve got my work cut out for me when it…[Read more]

Please keep reading Spinning Silver, I can’t guarantee you’ll love it but I was also very bored for the first bit and ended up rating it my favourite Fantasy book of 2020.

@gracie-j Thanks for the recommendation! (I do have a Goodreads, if you ever wonder…not an author one though.)
@kathleenramm Most of my favorites are from all different people, but Naoki Urasawa has been by far one of my most favorite authors. Everything he creates is just an absolute masterpiece… (Highly recommended for older people,…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Great idea! Though be warned; my list will probably mostly consist of manga, with a classic book once in a while. Hopefully this might spark up my love for reading again, haha…
@gracie-j Ah, yes. I feel you. I may live up North, but being a second-gen immigrant, I’ve never really felt that strongly about the civil war. However, I…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Ooh I love this idea!! So I didn’t read anything today yet, but I read the first chapter of the Hobbit Christmas Day! I’ve seen the movies, so it’s nice to already have the image in my head lol.
I really love the misty mountains song and ended up singing most of it to myself instead of quietly reading it 😂😂
I also like how the i…[Read more]

Yeah, I know what you mean. That’s an interesting thought–I’ve never really paid attention to authors’ favoritism. I’ll have to think about it. I feel like I’ve read that kinda thing before though, and I’ve definitely written it!! 😂

ella replied to the topic What was the most difficult scene for you to write and why? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 8 months ago
Definitely. On a slightly different note, I hate it when people write comic relief characters who are so try-hard!! 😄 I almost put the book down (e.g. Uriah in the Divergent series–I liked him in the first book, but in the last two, he was super cringy) Anyways, it’s interesting to see how so many writers (most of the time) s…[Read more]

I struggle with everything everyone else has mentioned, but I always have the hardest time trying to make friendly banter between two characters. Since I write in a different setting than real life, I can’t use the banter between me and my friends as inspiration. (It’s also mostly cheesy stuff anyways. 🙂 ) So yeah, I’ll be w…[Read more]

Yea I struggle with scenes that have multiple characters. Not even just with dialogue but overall, I struggle with not just randomly popping in things for them to do to remind u they’re there, but I also usually don’t feel like taking the time to write the scenes lol. Again, hopefully I’ll smooth it out in editing.

That’s quite hard for me to answer! Death scenes are hard for me to write emotionally speaking, especially as someone who has had two very beloved family members die traumatically. It’s just hard for me to treat them as blase as I used to when I was a younger writer and I struggle with them quite a lot.
More mentally though, stupid…[Read more]

Im just gonna use what I’m working on rn…and since I’m still in the first few chapters, probably the scenes in chapter 4.
I’m honestly struggling to write scenes with my MC’s family, because there are 4 members and sometimes I get overloaded with too many ppl cuz I don’t want to just throw in conversation just so they can be in…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Honestly, every scene I write is difficult once it starts to lag. So then I usually toss in a new character or yet another fight scene, or most of the time, both. But in general, uh, romantic scenes are probably the biggest struggle for me. Which is probably why there has been an extreme lack of romance in everything that I’ve…[Read more]

@godlyfantasy12 Did somebody say…bullet journaling??
I’ve been bullet journaling since ca. June 2019, and oh my goodness it has helped me so much. Like you and @kathleenramm, I love amandarachlee (and may or may not have drawn heavy inspiration from her for my monthly themes, oops).
