I love this topic already! @devestate-lasting @abigail-m yours sound amazing! I love the line “She couldn’t remember the last time she saw daylight” because its so eerie and confusing and immediately makes me think “What the heck?” but also makes me think of the arctic/antarctic (which I think is what you’re going for) so it grounds…[Read more]

Oh my goodness, I love your first line, it immediately made me wonder about the character:)
Here are the first three sentences from the prologue in The Snow Warrior. The prologue picks up a few days after she’d been abandoned. She didn’t have her Title or sword then either, so it’s one of the few ‘before’ scenes in the story.
The…[Read more]

The bells clanged at the railroad crossing, lights flashing as the train brushed by, the wind scattering flower petals everywhere.
“Ah…”
He stood there, watching. Watching, waiting…
@kathleenramm Oo, I love that! That sounds really interesting, I’d love to read your story someday!
Ahem. Anyways, the above was from my current novella…[Read more]

@kathleenramm @scoutfinch180 @any-other-atla-fans @i-know-one-person-is-missing I found this really cool fan art of Sokka and wanted to share it! It definitely inspired me, heh.

Kads replied to the topic Fanfiction in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years, 7 months ago
@kathleenramm Yeah, I think that fanfic is an easy way to get involved in writing. But I normally put myself/one of my various personas/one of my characters into the story with fanfic, so I really have only experience doing that.
@joy-caroline Aaah, thank you! I remember being really proud of it at the time, since it was pretty much my first…[Read more]

Hey everybody!
This is basically the topic where when you see a cool image or quote, you put it here. I’d prefer primarily images here, but if you see a cool quote don’t be afraid to post it! 😀 The images can be anything, (just be sure to follow KP posting rules, of course) from fan art of something you like to a book cover you thought looked…[Read more]

@daisy-torres Ooh, thank you for starting this topic! I’ve been a violinist for *checks watch* thirteen years or so? So yeah. 😀 What kinds of music do you like to play/sing the most?
@kathleenramm I’m so sorry you had a bad experience with a violin teacher. I’ve been in your shoes, and know how much it can suck. <3 If you ever do decide to touch…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Aww, that really stinks about the violin! I looove violins. They’re one of my favorite instruments. My sister got one for Christmas and is learning how to play, and occasionally I try to learn a bit as well, but I’m horrible still XD What usually gets me into the mood to learn an instrument is watching other players on YouTube! Idk…[Read more]

A little late to the party, but hello @daisy-torres thank you so much for resurrecting this thread and sending a wave to the musicians. I get you though, about not being in the mood when composing ; )
I’m a (very) amateur guitarist, a sometimes songwriter, and an always pianist. I sing, but I’m not a soloist, usually I’m alto when the fam g…[Read more]

This is an awesome topic!
And an interesting one at that…
I suppose I’ll use Mejia (still working on a name) for this topic.
(Warning: I’m the queen of spoilers, so yes, just a warning:)In the prologue, Mejia is wandering blindly through a blizzard, due to the fact that she was recently abandoned twice for her fighting spirit.…[Read more]

Hi Kathleen!
I am super excited to be here! Yes, I love reading Lewis’ non-fiction. I took a class last year that “made” me read a bunch of his work, and I loved it all! I have to say my favorite Tolkien book is Return of the King and my favorite Lewis book is Mere Christianity (or The Screwtape Letters, I can’t decide yet, lol)…[Read more]

Hello Kathleen! Thank you!
I think my favorite part about writing my novel has been the joy of creating something of my own that I I can be proud of. The hardest part is when I set aside time to write, but nothing I write feels right for the story and I end up deleting a bunch of it. I also struggle with procrastination, but I’ve…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I don’t have the discipline to grow callouses for a string instrument (I liked violin for a while, but then I decided the callouses would be too much work XD), I don’t have good enough breath support for wind instruments (except ocarina, for some reason; I’m okay-ish at ocarina), I don’t read music very well, and I like/am good at…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Hmmm this is probably gonna help me develop my characters….I will choose to go with my three MCs from The Mafia of Heather Flights.
I’ll go with Ethan first because he’s the one I have most developed, internal conflict-wise. As a kid if he did something bad he was sent to his room without dinner. Now he’s anorexic, because of the…[Read more]

@kathleenramm — First off, great question XD
I was running. They knew who I was–They knew the fate I, their author, had destined them too. I briefly wondered if it was too late to beg for mercy, but I didn’t have to ponder that long. I made them ruthless, after all.
By this point, I was out of breath, and knew they would catch me any time…[Read more]

Yes, I love ATLA! I was so surprised when we went to re-watch it at how complex the characters were, even ones like Ozai (Zuko’s dad)(I think I got his name right) who has this tremendous ‘I’m bad just because’ vibe has reasons for what he is, even though it’s never delved into.
Oh, that makes sense, I was so…[Read more]
