Haha, well I also have a huge cat. The black one is a fat one. She weighs 8 kilos (convert that if you don’t use kilograms 😉 ) but she’s so lovable and cuddly, which is good in winter 😉

teeny tiny tabby (we often get asked if she is a kitten)
Yes, people can’t believe our little tortoiseshell is 7 years old. I know 5-month-old kittens who are bigger than her already! 😀
I hate magpies. In the spring they always swoop me when I go out to catch my horse to ride her.
I don’t like or dislike magpies – it was…[Read more]

@rolena-hatfield Yes, I play violin 😀 No, I don’t think my favourite genre is classical, but I do like it 😉 I’m not sure I have a favourite genre, I just know what I like to play.
And hopefully in the near future I’ll actually do something with my YouTube channel and upload recording/videos of me playing, like I’ve been wanting to for a while -…[Read more] -

@dragon-snapper Awe, too bad 🙁 But great work! The story was great nonetheless! Do they give you any critiques or feedback? (probably not 😛 )
That’s what would be great in contests – a simple reason why you didn’t win, so you know what you might need to improve on (though I realise this would mean a whole lot more work for the contest-minions 😉 )

For some reason, I didn’t see this until today! I’m sorry @michael-stanton I think you should send the rest of the stewards an email to be sure they know about this new page. Or @stewie-plotter can?
I actually haven’t had time to watch these through all the way, though I watched part of the first one, which was thought-provoking and helpful.

@michael-stanton @stewie-plotter In addition to the questions about sharing about KP at my homeschool group (my idea has since developed to sending out an email and then later in August trying to see if I can announce it at our support group) I have gained access to a new collaborative board! I was supposed show what I’ve been doing, so here you…[Read more]

@michael-stanton @stewie-plotter I had a new idea. My family’s homeschool group is basically on break for the summer, but in August, we start up. Could I earn coins by sharing about KP at one of their support groups for parents? We have about eighty-four families represented, and by next year, we’ll probably have more.
And if I was to make an…[Read more]

@daeus @aratrea @kate-flournoy @ceaseless-prayer Thanks for the feedback. The gist of what ya’ll said was kind of my gut feeling, but I didn’t want to run with it on a story this important to me. So thank you, because I really needed some sound thoughts on this.
Now I think I’ll have to go develop my parents. (Why is that so exciting?!)

@BethanySinkyRoses Definitely agree with everyone else. Another thing I thought of is that in trying to teach or encourage your audience in any way, you need them to be able to identify with your characters, & they can’t do that if your characters are perfect. Make sense?
Also, I really like @kate-flournoy‘s point. Showing the real life struggle…[Read more]

What do you think of parents who have no personality and never make mistakes? Is there a good excuse for writers who do this?
For example, in the Mennonite Millers book series, the parents are portrayed as all-wise and unerring. Perfect-no flaws, no mistakes, ever. Maybe they are this way to encourage the small fry in the audience to respect…[Read more]

@winter-rose Yes, but losing a hand… Reading such book is not doing my own characters any favors. XD
One thing I found interesting about this series is that they are almost more biographical (which is kind of the point, I think). The plot didn’t seem as orderly and structured as most novels would be, rather it was a life; a string of events. I…[Read more]

@winter-rose *is here for you* I’ve read them! Love the series. The first book… yes. Murderous would be a good way to describe it. I was stunned when Parvin actually lost her hand. And it didn’t surprise me when Jude died, but still… *sniffs* He was such a great character. One of my favorite things about this series was how human Parvin was. I…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper I love chapter titles; ones that grab my attention without telling me what will happen. Or funny ones. The chapter titles in Percy Jackson, for example… I love just looking thought the table of contents because they’re so hilarious.

@Northerner Yes, Kingdom Pen is wonderful. I don’t know where I’d be without the things I’ve learned and the people I’ve met here.

@dragon-snapper That was great! I think adding that new paragraph at the beginning was a good idea, because a few people mentioned they were confused at the beginning. Great job! I didn’t notice anything that might need editing 🙂
