*runs in out of breath* “I heard thy scream dear lady,” @kate-flournoy “What is it that troubles thee?” *scrolls upward, continues to previous pages. Comes back huffing and puffing* Whew. You nearly gave me a heart attack. I thought someone’s villain had actually got the better of them. *clears throat* Any more violent outburst of this kind and I…[Read more]

Thanks @kate-flournoy! I’ve been writing seriously since August of 2013 and you’re right about improving as you go. I’ve seen improvement in my work and I’ve learned a ton of things since then. So I’m getting there but I guess I’m just an impatient perfectionist. 😀
Write on, everyone!

Very good points @kate-flournoy
I love that term, “The inside joke technique” That should be official terminology. It’s a wonderful trick. I do it sometimes, but I should really do it a lot more. It’s profoundly dickinsonian, but it doesn’t have to be plagiarism. I think it can be done in fewer words then he used but greater power.
Now here’s…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy Your reaction… I’m grinning my face off right now. XD I’ll definitely post some more. (Though I can’t promise that stopping spot will be much better… 😉 )
@daeus and @adry_grace That was my biggest concern on the scene. Bad guy dialog isn’t really my strong point. 😛 I shall work on that.
Thanks for catching the typos,…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy I don’t think it had much to do their accent. I think it was mainly about the flow of the scene, sentence flow, and characterization.

@kate-flournoy Yes! I love replacing dialogue tags with body language.

Yep, it’s the same book I’ve been doing this for. So you get more Cobalt @kate-flournoy. 😛
This part is a huge turning point near the end of the story, so I just need to make sure I’m getting everything polished up here.
So, polishing tips would be nice. 😉Background for this scene: Jean accidentally cut off the communications with Frost, who…[Read more]

Awesome topic! I especially love your stone story idea @kate-flournoy. 😉
Lemme see… there’s one that I never finished about a Irish girl taken captive by Vikings and makes her way back after escaping with one little dog, one big dog, and one massive eagle. I basically wrote the whole thing while listening to the soundtrack of How To Train Your…[Read more] -

@kate-flournoy That’s a good point. Did you ever find any times where you surprised yourself with the discovery that you had been spoon feeding the reader? I mean, was there any really subtle example. I’m wondering because its those really sneaky mistakes that get you, and if you can fix them you’ll notice a big improvement. That’s why I’m always…[Read more]

Your game sounds like a story I tried to write. It was an attempt to do a fairy tale spin off by putting Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel all in the same book as sisters. Their parents left on a journey and their evil uncle tried to take over the throne.
@rolena-hatfield, Ooo, that’s a great story idea! 🙂 That would…[Read more]

@ingridrd Oh please keep talking! Thanks for jumping in and sharing! That is a scary dream though. Aren’t dreams weird. Especially the vivid ones. Oh my, I just remembered a dream I had that I thought would make a fantastic story! A young woman had just married a man and they had moved out west, but he was unjustly accused of some horrendous crime…[Read more]

That would be an awful dream!!! How sad and horrible! I have to admit though I laughed only because I managed to read the story wrong and so thought that you had put your “mouth” over the “hand” of the gun instead of vice versa. It made for a humorous picture see, with your mouth over the gun and then you saying “I saved the…[Read more] -

@kate-flournoy Thanks for joining me. I’m pretty happy – 750 words edited/rewritten. What did you do, write 20,724 words?

@kate-flournoy A pearl for the villains. I wasn’t quite expecting that. Then I thought “that’s a good idea”. Just imagine a couple who’s first child is born with a pearl. What would they do? Hide him till he grew up and they could hide him and his gem no longer? I won’t tell you to write it now cause I know how it is to be working hard on my…[Read more]

@Kate-Flournoy, great job! The faces are beautiful. Oils and watercolors are opposites when it comes to thickness. You mentioned having to use many layers to attain the desired look; however, when I did my oil painting of Simeon blessing Jesus at the temple, the paint on Mary’s face was so thick that I had to scrape it off several times in order…[Read more]
