Ah, well, here’s the issue: I’m a plantser. I do a bit of planning and a LOT of pantsing. All I know when I start thinking up a WIP is the beginning, ending, or a climactic scene near the end. I rarely beginning working on the project right away, so it simmers away on a back burner while I focus on other things (like, geometry… *grim…[Read more]

@faith-q Girl of course!! And I totally feel you, my to-be-written list is also never-ending XD
It has the same kind of vibe to it, if that makes sense XD The ideas are totally different, but the whole “anointed one” aspect reminds me of it, although those words aren’t the ones used exactly XD You’d have to read it and ‘feel’ the world to see…[Read more]

Lovely story idea! Honestly, aside from the tropes Joy and Daisy mentioned, it sounds unique to me! And, like they also said, even those tropes are common, they are still incredibly enjoyable (Honestly, the more I think about it, almost every story has a “chosen one” of some sort, even in the Bible). So, in my opinion, you’ve got a great…[Read more]

@faith-q Oh that sounds like such a cool idea!! I have read one book by Jennifer A. Nelson called “Mark of the Thief”. You might enjoy it, although there is some Egyptian mythology stuff in it. But it’s a good book and sounds kind of up the ally of your book idea! (Although not too similar, it just reminds me of it haha)
I really like that book…[Read more]

Ooo… Thanks so much for the suggestions! It’s always nice to get directed towards good books. 😀 Jennifer Erin Valent’s trilogy is great with sibling-like relationships. The two girls aren’t actually sisters, but they treat each other and grow up like sisters. It’s a Christian series, but it does get pretty dark/sad by book three…[Read more]

@lydia-s Sure thing!! Lemme know what you think of you ever read it! The Viking Quest series is also a fantastic series with amazing sibling relationships in it T_T<3 I first read that series when I was 13 and I still adore it XD

I’m doing The Writer’s Conservatory! (It’s a three-year college alternative program that teaches students how to write well and on a deadline, how to publish independently and traditionally, and helps you start a small business) They count the program as a credit in English and a credit in business. 🙂
You’d think with how smart technol…[Read more]

@lydia-s There’s one book series I really loved called the Lost Island of Tamarind by Nadia Aguiar and it has some great sibling relationships, as well as really creative world building in general. I really loved it, although personally I’d rate it pg-13 for violence (and I think a d-word) but it wasn’t too bad. (If you’ve ever watched Lord of the…[Read more]

Agh, yessss… I honestly can’t think of that many books that include siblings, let alone in a positive manner. Which is honestly very, very sad. :'(

Exactly! I’m hoping to be able to work my writing into this next school year. It would be a whole lot easier to stay in touch with my stories if I was required to and earned high school credits off of it. XD

Lydia S. replied to the topic How do you draft/write the "first" document? in the forum General Writing Discussions 3 years, 2 months ago
Ah, this is embarrassingly late, but here I am anyway! 😉
My drafting process is a bit odd. Generally, I know how the story begins, and I know how the story or even series ends. Random scenes from the middle pop into my head at random times, but most of it is pretty blurry. The story usually works itself out on its own. I just…[Read more]
