Very nice, @Daeus. 🙂
No actually, that sounds pretty good, minus the second-to-last sentence. 😉 I like the idea of a curve ball being thrown at Anna in the form of changing/updating the Enigma. That would really make her need to think.
@Hope! You can’t kill Anna’s father! I will cry! Who is the other young rebel who dies? Not Sean, is it?

Thank you so much, Kate and Rolena. 🙂 I do try to keep my names pronounceable…mostly for my own sake. 😉 Rhett Newman is one of my absolute favorite names…and he’s my favorite male protagonist as of yet!

I really enjoyed that, Daeus! Nicely done! I liked that it was so short. Looking forward to the next one!

@Daeus In the beginning of the trilogy, Callie (age 14) problem solves in a speedy, impulsive way. She tends to act first, think later, but then seriously second-guess herself (even if she did the right thing) and think through every possible variation and how it would have “been better” if she had said something else or said it differently. As…[Read more]

Nice question! I think the character who is most like me is the main character of my trilogy, Callie Nickly. There are a lot of things similar about us, mostly physical appearance and problem-solving strategies. In fact, Callie has been an extremely difficult character to write about because she has forced me to learn about myself! (That sounds…[Read more]

@Joy-Schmidt I wouldn’t know about older siblings, but regardless of that I agree with you…no cape for @Hope. At least, not outside of the house. 😉

Welcome, Joy! Glad to have you. I didn’t know you did any writing at all. @Hope never told me (naughty her). 😉 Three books…that’s awesome!
If Hope were my sister, I too might be slightly…hesitant…to let her wear a cloak out of the house. But then again, my ten year old brother has a cloak that he wears everywhere…
I love your profile…[Read more]

My pleasure! Glad I could help!
How cool that you are including adoption in your story! Four of my six siblings are adopted. I love including adoption in my books in hopes that it will ‘normalize’ the idea for other people. 🙂

Good question! I would think that a person with the condition you’ve described would get tired and fatigued easily. Anytime a person experiences pain, it is tiring. You could keep her 3-D by describing the pain, showing how she hated to stop playing/teasing because the pain either momentarily or for several minutes made it difficult to think…[Read more]

Very nice excerpt! Just reading this little bit has me wanting to read more. 🙂
As David said, you are POV hopping a bit. Personally, I like it when there is POV hopping in a book, but it’s best when it is distinct. You made it clear by putting an extra, empty line between Rowan’s and Stephen’s the first time. Also, if you could eliminate that…[Read more]

@Greta Fantasy is great! I’ve not liked it up till now but finally I’ve convinced myself to read the Chronicles of Narnia and LoTR and my mind is slowly but surely being changed. 🙂 I write historical and contemporary fiction.
As for what Daeus said about serious writing discussions…ha! You’ll be hard pressed to find a single thread on here…[Read more]

@Daeus…that made me laugh so hard! My parents teach Concealed Carry classes, and I learn a TON through all the research that my mom does preparing for the different classes we offer. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or not, but it’s fun… 🙂

I’m doing NaNo! This is my first year as well…I’m a little nervous. 🙂 I’m not signed up with the young writers program, but should I be @David? What are the difference between that and the regular one?
