Perhaps I could go the other way and do something about undiscovered power…hidden power…true power. Hmm, I’ll have to go muse on that a bit.

@overcomer and @kate-flournoy Crowned Powerless is growing on me too. Though I’m still not sure. I’m not getting too many positive responses to these titles, with Powerless still being ranked twice as high as any other name. *sighs* But that is what I want to know now, so I don’t publish a book with a cheesy or weird title.
This novel has given…[Read more]

And if you guys think they are all awful, just tell me. I’d rather know now than later. 😉

@bluejay my favorite right now is Shattered Power.

I’ve been messing around with the word ‘powerless’ and here are a few ideas I’ve come up with:
Powerless Power
Crowned Powerless
Shattered Power
Powerless Fate
Powerless NameThoughts?

@Daeus, @Kate-flournoy, @anna-brie, @gretald, @overcomer, @bluejay, @everyoneelse So here’s a related problem I’d like your thoughts on. Should you publish a book with the same title as a book already publish? Nothing iconic, like Hunger Games, but simple, one-word titles like Powerless. Powerless, for example, has about four books under that…[Read more]

I’ve not done much yet; still in the planning stages. And I have a pinterest board for my story. Does that count as something? 🙂 But I’m hoping to do some major planning this weekend. Or next week.

Hope Ann replied to the topic Song writing in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 8 years, 5 months ago
I’m not…I’m awful at songs and poems. Well, maybe not awful, but I have a hard time thinking things up. If I get any ideas I’ll tell you, but I’m afraid I might not be much help at this.

@Daeus Oooo, I like that one! I’m not committing to any title yet, but that is one I’ll definitely be keeping in mind.

Good idea, @daeus Annnnnd, I’m going to do it here just because.
What’s one word that describes your protagonist? Unbowed
What’s one word that describes your antagonist? Vengeful
What’s your protagonist’s lie? He must win on his own
Do you have any repeated phrases throughout the story? Not quotable ones
What swings the tide at the climax?…[Read more]

@anna-brie I know…those ones aren’t very good. But nothing is clicking.
@gretald The problem with Legend of the Shield was that I discovered it was actually the title of some comic series. 😉 And nothing just seems to be snapping. And the way my book’s theme has changed, The Final Clash really doesn’t fit anymore.
That’s a good point, @kate-fl…[Read more]

There’s a lot of truth to a quote I once saw, at least in my own life: One either gets a title right the first time, or they spend weeks or months agonizing over it. Or, in my case, years.
So, there’s this book I’m working on. Originally it was called Legend of the Shield, then The Shield and Spear. It’s most recent title is The Final Clash. I’m…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Animal Farm in the forum Book Discussions 8 years, 5 months ago
I find the ‘media side’ of the story interesting. The twisting of the story about different farmers and Snowball to make sure there is always someone everyone is upset with. Since the animals are given someone to blame, they don’t look closer to home at the real reason of their trials. And, through all the stories told about all the ‘enemies’ of…[Read more]

Or you can write short novellas on characters or give extra scenes or secret pages to those who have read your books and/or joined your newsletter. 😉
As for yelling, you must also use your mouth. And your hands cupped around your mouth. The mountain tops are best for getting your voice spread the furthers, or so I’ve heard. But since there are…[Read more]

I agree, though it is sad. That’s the problem I have with one of my WIPs (Scarlet Rose). I’ve too many subplots, some of which don’t really have to do with the main plot. And I’m going to have to go though and trim plenty of parts and figure out what to focus on and what to just let be part of a character.

@bluejay Nope, no state animal. I think states can have an animal if they want, but Indiana doesn’t have one.

@Bluejay Yes, Indiana! We have a state bird, the Cardinal. Our state flower is the Peony and our state tree is the Tulip Tree. We call ourselves Hoosiers…I’m not sure on the background of that name though.
Basketball is a big sport here; not that I’ve ever been interested. Also, there is the NASCAR 500 race down in Indianapolis. Also in…[Read more]
