  • I’d add them in. Another thing you can do is copy your work onto another document and remember to work on that one. I did that with one of my Warriors fanfics, which I’m on draft three or four of. I was forty or fifty pages into the second draft before I decided the plotline could be a lot better, so I copied what I needed onto a new document and…[Read more]

@scripter-of-kingdoms That’s a cool drawing! How did you know when his birthday was, is he a real person you know or a character you made up (or know a lot about)?

  • I would love to do it! The only issue is about the email thing. I’ve only told my email address to a select few, very trusted friends, and I honestly don’t trust people I don’t know very well in real life. (Not that I don’t trust you, but I don’t want to get into the habit of giving personal information out to others online). Is there some way to do it?

Ugh, the forum balrog ate my reply when I tried to edit it, so reposting.

I would like to pitch in with a few things here.

Do not let all of your characters meet each other in the same room. Only three out of more than twenty characters speak English, and like at least ten of them haven’t even SEEN the real world before. Thus, this will result…[Read more]

Oh man. I would like to pitch in with a few things here.

Do not let all of your characters meet each other in the same room. Only three out of more than twenty characters speak English, and like at least ten of them haven’t even SEEN the real world before. Thus, this will result in:

  • @nanisnook Welcome back! Yeah KP can make me feel guilty too…but I recently started working on a short story so I feel a bit better about it now haha

Honestly, I might just go back (if you’re working in a Word/Google doc) and put some comments in the places where I want to add those ideas. But if they are huge things that affect everything in…[Read more]

  • @nanisnook

I, personally, would go back and add those things. You don’t want to forget about it and not add it in! So ngl I’d prob just do that.

Also, it is 100% okay for chapters to be different lengths. My chapters range from 6 or 7 pages to more than like twelve sometimes. It’s totally fine! 🙂 Every author writes differently!

    Hullo and welcome!

Lol, I’ve probably watched the Emperors New Groove like, 40 times so far in my life. It’s very good.

Yea, I’m and INTJ actually. Do you know what those letters stand for? I found a cool graph online that shows what it means. Basically you pick the letters based off of words that describe you. It looks kinda like…[Read more]

@sparrowhawke Haha yeah I just really like history, I don’t actually know how I got interested in Japanese history–it’s just kinda been something I’ve always been enthusiastic about learning XD

Electric bass was super fun, I could mostly play rhythms and I was in a very small band for awhile, but I’ve never played electric bass for a crowd…[Read more]

@sparrowhawke Ah yes, it seems it was eaten by the Forum Balrog. 🙁 But I was able to see it on your profile, so fear not! 😉

Heyy, thanks! Haha. Oh, actually, it’s short for Kadotake, which was one of my former aliases! But my close friends on here nicknamed me Kads. XD It fits me better, imo!

Ooooh, all of those sound super interesting!! The…[Read more]

I LOVE art!  Especially drawing flowers.  I do a lot of concept art for my books too.

What’s your favorite genre of music? I like r&b and hip/hop.

What’s your WIP about?  Mine is about a spy, and that’s pretty much all I know rn X…[Read more]

Hey Bethany!!!  (I’m on SE too, but KP is def more active.)  Nice to meet you, I see you’re a lover of Latin!  I’m taking Latin 4 this year which should be fun.  A little about me:  I write dystopian, spy, thriller/suspense books.  I’m an ENFP and my favorite music is r&b and hip/hop.   I go to a classical Christian school, which s…[Read more]

  • Lin replied to the topic Tense Choices in the forum General Writing Discussions 5 years ago

@sparrowhawke Yee a lot of classics use first person peripheral, actually! For another work I was debating between first and third and finally settled on first person peripheral. Pretty happy I did.

  • Jodi Maile replied to the topic Salvete scriptores! in the forum Start HERE 5 years ago

@sparrowhawke Hello! My name is Jodi. I write fantasy, historical fiction, and the occasional dystopian piece. I also like ancient stuff–I minored in history (mostly medieval England, American history, and the entire history of Japan haha) when I was in college.

I like music too. I play piano, sing, and used to play electric bass! My favorite…[Read more]

  • @sparrowhawke Hellooo! So, I think you should choose your tense based on how close/far you want the reader to feel to the main character, the MC’s feelings, and how immediate you want the events of the story to feel.

First person present makes the reader feel like they are right there in the story, with things happening to them just the same way…[Read more]
