Hesh furled his eyebrows. “Are we not at one of the Emperor’s estates?” He had boarded a ship sailing to a high land of Yamazen and, though the trip had been brimming with mist and storm, the captain had assured him that they had arrived safely at their intended harbour.
He glanced around. Now that he was really looking, everything seem…[Read more] -

@e-m-trepke You’re a Star Wars person?? Thrawn’s so creepy, but he’s also cool in an evil sort of way. He’s a great villain.

@e-m-trepke Great!
“What??” Rinzler eyed him. “Transfers? We literally just showed up here. I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Feather’s hand was on her gun.(She has a sniper rifle, just so you know.) The man’s voice was too condescending for her taste. “I don’t want to hurt you.” she said. “I just want to know what this place is. Is t…[Read more]

Yes! I love both real and figurative cheesiness. Of course, he is not always cheesy, he can also often have a Grand-Admiral-Thrawn-like tone.

Hesh looked down at the two people before him. They seemed but children, albeit with an odd taste in clothing. What in the world were those disks? Quickly he got into character— they were already suspicious.
“Hello,” he smiled carefully. “Are you new transfers too? I’ll admit I feel a bit… out of place. I’m sure that will be remedied when…[Read more] -

Yes! The main reason he is not very developed yet is because I made him up last week…
Speaking of thieves… have you read A Face Like Glass by Francis Hardinge? The character called the Kleptomancer is a pretty cool thief.

Yes! He is probably working on a job in the castle, but as he is a little tired that day, he doesn’t notice them enter the —treasure chamber maybe?— and rappels from the ceiling right in front of them! (Cue ridiculous + cheesy lines) (“Ummmmmm…. Sorry to drop in on you like this… I have a perfectly reasonable reason for hanging from the ceiling…[Read more]

Maybe I should introduce my characters now:
Feather and Rinzler
“Where are we? This looks nothing like the Sanctuary.” Feather looked around. The murals on the walls were totally different than the ones she was used to seeing, and rather than the Library Tower stretching into the sky, there was a large castle that looked like it’d been cobbled…[Read more]

Well, I am not quite sure. Probably in his 30’s because it would take him some time to acquire all of his skills.

@godlyfantasy12 It’s cool how your villain character can turn into a raven!

@e-m-trepke Hmm. How about both? They’d probably be wandering it together, trying to figure out what they’re doing here. And then your character drops in on them (figuratively or literally, if you’d like)

Hmmm… that could be fun! Which of your characters? From what I understand, your characters are sic-fi (is this correct?). This would make the meeting even more interesting, since Hesh is from a fantasy world!

@denali-christianson Helllloooo therrrrre!
Why did I draw that out?Anyway. You are an elf? I can’t decide what I am. Some days I am a dinosaur (specifically a velociraptor), others I am a brown cat with a white paw and green eyes. Still others I am a dragonperson, with a human body but dragon wings and a tail. My brother hates it when I’m like…[Read more]

E. M. Trepke replied to the topic Thinking alone vs talking with others. Which gives you more story ideas? in the forum Topic of the Week 4 years, 4 months ago
Generally I get more ideas from thinking alone, but sometimes a sibling says something, or something comes up in conversation which launches a whole new train of thought, which I then develop by thinking alone.

Wow! This sounds fun…
What character should I enter? A villain? Ooh! I have a new character, Hesh Conlannen, I am not sure if he is a villain or not… all I know is that he intrigues me.
Hesh Conlannen: Master thief. Tall and thin with a crooked nose and an eye patch. Currently very undeveloped. I think he is just entering the castle through the…[Read more]
