I see. For me I don’t really outline. I have the ending in mind and I know what is suppose to happen in the next few chapters but nothing beyond that (Like I said, I’m writing by faith). Tying everything together in the climax is going to be tough but I just need to get myself more motivated to actually write first before worrying…[Read more]

😛 In essence, you could have just distilled it to, “It’s back to square one for Wattle Fire.” (Not in terms of writing, of course, since I’m sure you gained some insights on that. But as a reader waiting for it, it is square one).
I’ve got good and bad news for you too.
Good news is that I’m preparing QOD Part 3 for upload.
Bad…[Read more]

It’s a musical which sort of partially inspired QOD. I watched it back when I was staying in London. It is not a deep show by any means and the plot and character development is not there but I listen to some of the soundtrack when I do my writing for QOD. 😛

I get the feeling. Always get that after watching a good show. Got it for QOD after watching 42nd Street. 😛
Sooner or later? That’s a crucial phrase you inserted there. 😛

Hi good to know you enjoyed yourself at Les Mis. 🙂
So how inspired are you now for SFI/Wattle Fire? 😛

Oh dear. In that case hopefully it’ll be a bad production and you wouldn’t feel inspired at all!
(Just kidding. Please enjoy yourself). 😛

Well, hopefully you’ll leave the show feeling even more inspired! 😀
Nope, no daylight savings here. I think it is an obsolete concept. It started out as a way to conserve energy right? (More daylight, less energy used for lighting). But I think people will be wasting energy regardless nowadays.

All right. Talk to you another time. 🙂
How exciting! I know you listen to the soundtrack but is it your first time watching the musical live? 😀
Ah, yes. Daylight savings. That explains why the time stamps on this forum are different. The whole concept of it escapes me though. 😛

Looks like we both missed each other yesterday. 😛 But I can probably come on again in about five and a half hours if you want. Let me know if you are free to chat today.
I think you are actually three hours ahead of me? (Which is weird because I could have sworn it was two last time). So that’ll actually be 3.30pm for you? I’m not sure. 😛

Hey so are you around now?

Sorry will be working so won’t be able to join. 😛 However, I should be able to chat during my break (in about 4 hours which is about 2.30pm for you?). Let me know if you want to.
I would invite you guys too but I don’t want to promote the bad habit of staying up late on the comp. 😛

Why not? The retelling is modern (written in modern times) though the setting is not. 😛

I thought you were going for ‘a modern retelling of Les Mis’? 😛

Haha no pressure. As I said, I have no right to torment others so long as I am tormenting them with my slowness with QOD.
Right. It goes back to what (I think) I said before about whether you really want to market your book as a dystopic novel (though you can certainly set your story in a dystopic setting) because the term brings…[Read more]

Ah, I thought that may have been the case. Guess it fits with the rest of the backstory.
But I suppose you’ll be working on NaNo instead of SFI now. 😛

Haha stupid fugitive characters right?
I suppose a way to justify it would be to have the government ban/restrict people from going abroad. So going to another country would be just very risky. He would definitely be flagged out and arrested during the border checks.
And maybe he did relocate to another city (where the Verde family…[Read more]

Oh, and regarding the Sapphire and Caderousse interaction thing… It does not make sense for her to be on the lookout for some pretense to arrest Jean. In this Fugitive!Jean situation, she should already think that Jean is guilty of some crime and she would be going straight to arrest him once she’s found him. No pretense necessary.…[Read more]

I agree a letter would be the most appropriate form of communication in that situation. It’s not about that. It’s that letters appear to be the only form of communication available in this supposedly futuristic society. Even when people are talking about safe, non-revolutionary stuff (which granted, the characters don’t often do but…[Read more]
