So I recently had two or three ideas that really need to go in my WIP. The problem is that I’m already like a quarter into it. They’re pretty big parts of it (the main character’s father is dead, for example) so I’m trying to decide whether I should go back and add them in now, since they’ll affect the story later on in pretty big ways, or just w…[Read more]

I love hearing what movies or books inspired writers to write their own stories. It’s so fun to see one person’s story inspire another story that possibly will inspire yet another person’s story. XD
It’s really cool how you were able to take all of your favorite things about stories and make them into your own story.
Have you ever…[Read more]

Ah, yes, I understand. Honestly, I don’t really use maps. The places in my worlds pop into existence as I need them. It’s probably not the best way to make geological decisions, but it’s what I’ve done so far. 😉 I’m totally going to check out that website @daisy-torres mentioned though… it sounds awesome!!!

Hey, I hope you don’t mind me popping in here!! Drawing maps is one of my favorite things to do, and I had to throw in a recommendation for How to Draw Fantasy Art and RPG Maps: Step by Step Cartography for Gamers and Fans by Jared Blando. It’s an amazing book on map-making, and great for inspiration!! I’d really recommend you get it f…[Read more]

@faith-q honestly I’m not a great artist, but the others have given good advice. There’s also a website (and a free version) called Inkarnate and it is awesome, but I still have yet to make a map Of Cirque and A’Grend I’m really proud of.

well, those days are good too… and then filling in the backstory. I love the daydreaming days as much as planning tbh.
probably because my story sorta requires mysterious countries and unknown peoples, because the biggest country (empire, really) has driven out all other people, so the trade routes are very small and selective and not…[Read more]

Sorry, I didn’t copy my reply so I forgot some of it, but this is more or less what I was saying:
I only do maps on paper, and I enjoy it, even if they’re cringy and look like a 7 yr old drew them.
I look at maps from stories I like, or even real life, and try to see how the position of the country affects the others. Questions I ask…[Read more]

@faith-q Well, I’ve handdrawn really bad maps before…just to get an idea of what direction my characters are going. But yeah, there are online map-makers that you can use.

@faith-q Personally, I cheat and use map generators like this: https://azgaar.github.io/Fantasy-Map-Generator/
(Although that’s rare, as I normally don’t make maps XD I, too, am a pantser…)

Hello, fellow Kapeefers! *waves awkwardly*
So, I am actually still alive. I know that my past messaging history seems to indicate that I fell off the face of the planet, but I am still very much here. However, over the summer, I entered the world of adulthood and got a job. Between that and 4H, I haven’t had a whole lot of spare time for…[Read more] - Load More
Hey Lydia! Welcome back! And oof, I know, right? Life seems to get so busy the older you get…
(But guess what? I STARTED A BLOG!!!! WOOHOO!! https://thepeninspired.wordpress.com/
@joelle-stone
I completely agree… Why is growing up so hard?! *sniff* 😛
*sniffs with you*
@lydia-s Hi, Lydia!!! Congrats on entering adulthood!!!🥳 I hope you’ve been having a great summer!!!!!
@mkfairygirl
Thanks! I just wish it would’ve happened AFTER I turned 18… *moans* lol 😛
It’s been going well! Incredibly busy though. How about you?
HEH WHAT?!?! YOU’RE EIGHTEEN!?!?!? WHY ARE YOU SO OLD?!
*reads comment again*
Oh wait. Maybe I’m reading this wrong. XD *facepalm*
Whoops… Well, it made sense in my head, but that sentence definitely does not say what I meant it to… *facepalm* XD Gonna rephrase that…
@mkfairygirl
(Since it seems I can’t edit that comment, I figure this is the next best option) That sentence made sense in my head but not so much in real life… Gonna rephrase it… *facepalm*
I wish I would’ve entered adulthood after turning 18… Unfortunately, it happened at 16. Getting a job was a jerk into reality. 😛
@lydia-s Oof, I know, adulthood comes just too fast.😜
My summer’s been great!! I’ve been swimming a good bit and really enjoying it!! 🙂
@mkfairygirl
Agreed!
Oh, awesome! Glad you’ve been having a good summer. 😀
Hi! How’ve you been? I’ve been good!
P.S. What does kapeefer mean?
@keilah-h
Hi! I’ve been great! Just way too busy. 🙂
I hope you found a name for your character, btw. It can be so hard to find the perfect name sometimes. 🙁
So, a Kapeefer is something from the old KP Cinema videos (if you go to the video archives, they’re one page back). It stands for ‘Kingdom Pen fan,’ like Keeper, but with an ‘f’ because of…[Read more]
Cool. And if you mean my dragon character, yes I found a name for her! Someone suggested Spark, and I liked it so I ran with it.
I have names for her cousins too: Torrent, Rifle, Crossfire, and Silverstar….note that I use a lot of natural stuff….Oh, and she has a brother, Ember.
Ooo, awesome names! The dragon in my fantasy WIP is named Ember, too. 🙂
