I started entering competitions and submitting work to magazines/anthologies when I was about 13 I think? I’m pretty sure I was first published at 14, and then had several other publications after that.

@scoutfinch180 Interpolation is when your mind fills in the gaps, for example, you read a brief description of a character but a few pages later you already have their face in your mind. It’s pretty cool!

No kidding! They really do put up with quite a bit… XD
Hmmm… I’m not sure! Helmer’s death didn’t come as a surprise for me. *cough* I may or may not have skimmed through the ending the moment I got the book in my hands to see if he was there… And when he wasn’t, I may or may not have then skimmed through the rest of the…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Hmmm most recently probably comes from my English professor. Probably: “If there’s an upper word count limit then it means that this assignment can be done very well and with quality in this word count or under.” I guess overall, length isn’t everything.
Oh, and there was talk about interpolation and sensory description and…[Read more]

Ohhh that’s a great piece of advice!! I’ll have to try that!
I’m not sure this is really counted as ‘advice’ or not, but once I was talking to my dear friend Elfwing. Now, she’s great at sticking with her world and exploring it in different books, kind of like Tolkien does. I, however, am the exact opposite. For me, there are just so many worlds…[Read more]

Thx!! So this one isn’t my Allegorical fantasy fiction but it does have some allegorical elements, such as the Dark One representing the Devil and other things, God is in it, but it’s not based on a Bible story.
but the fantasy world they’re in is the same world my Allegorical Fantasies take place in (almost like how our Bible…[Read more]

@faith-q You need to write at least one short story under Vierra F. Spring, and no one will understand except that one person who laughed at you.

I was seriously considering using a pseudonym for several years, but I decided against it for a couple of reasons. One being that I started getting published when I was quite young, so my real name was already out there. I’ve won competitions under Chelsea Hindle, been published in magazines, and obviously did my internship here with that name, my…[Read more]

@not-so-secret-assassin
So haven’t finished the first book as mentioned before, but my dad gave me the first one and said it was one of the most highly rated Christian Fantasy’s which obviously is my genre, and that I def needed to read it so I scooped it up and it is on ma bookshelf! I think the world is honestly really cool along with the sto…[Read more]

Also, if you just want to skip to the second chapter to read what i wrote, you can. You don’t need to read the first chapter to understand the second chapter.

Hey yo, not-so-secret fam!
Contrary to popular belief, I actually DO write from time to time. And it’s actually REALLY GOOD. No cap. Like, Tolkien’s got nothing on me. C.S. Lewis? He came back from the dead JUST to get my autograph. And Shakespeare has been real quiet ever since I have started writing. And that’s a FACT.
Anywaaaays. I’m gonna…[Read more]

Thanks for helping me understand a bit better!
Also, sorry if I sounded a bit “un-gracious” there, but I guess what I meant wasn’t anything against the author, but the story. (I’m also a terrible writer, and it would indeed be bad news for me if the notion of improvement didn’t exist). So to rephrase: If the characters, world, an…[Read more]

@kathleenramm I use a pen name, since I don’t really like other people knowing my real name, though for pieces I write in real life situations I use my real name. I think it’s cooler to have a name that I chose for myself, and it gives off the kind of vibe I want to give off.

@joy-caroline Yay! A WIP chat (that I’m super late to! Sorry)! And I’m so excited for WFR 🙂
I’m about halfway through the first draft of a story my sister and I have been working on for years. Technically, this is around the third or fourth time we’ve tried to write it, but this is the new first draft of a freshly re-plotted version of the story…[Read more]

@joy-caroline Currently can’t think of anything much, but I do have a short story idea that I’m expanding on, about a hitman hired to take out world leaders over enacting a law about teleportation.
