XD But actually, in my memory (until you just recapped it) he was going to turn himself in and then they were attacked and he was killed protecting Jenna (?) and her family. I like that ending because Baron gave his life for someone instead of taking life…. but then that is also cliche for a redemption story (and cliche is not a…

    Gabriel Mai

“I…don’t hear a man’s voice. At least, I don’t think so. It’d have to be a strange one.” He shook his head. “It doesn’t matter. Try to sleep again if you can.”

  • @rae

    That’s what we’re here for!

I’m sorry, that sounds rough. I’ll keep praying for you ❤️ Ellette’s idea is a good one, but I don’t know if it’ll work for sure. Maybe you could have a reminder on your phone or something that tells you to eat a snack? Just getting into the routine of eating three meals a day even if you’re not hungry  could h…

  • @ellette-giselle lol it’s not like I’ve ever done that in books so I’m not offended. I’ve just seen it happen.

tbh it is aggravating but it’s not as annoying as some other stuff people do in books so it’s pretty low on my list of Things I Hate In Books.

  • I think it’s okay. Like Whaley said, it makes sense that the end of his arc is him turning himself in, because he knows that’s the right thing to do.

When I read it, I might not LIKE it (I don’t remember what my reaction to it was when I was beta reading) but the more I think about it the more I’ll understand why, and that in and of itself…[Read more]

“I saw a man.” She spoke quieter than she intended, but struggled to turn up her voice’s volume. “He didn’t have a mouth, Gabriel, and now he’s gone. So how are you hearin’ him?”

  • A few things:

    1. I have not collapsed or needed to go to the ER, and my doctor said that she’s happy to see I’m apparently improving faster than normal which she hoped. Still feels like forever, but recovery usually takes 2-4 years, so I guess I’m doing okay.

    2. While that’s not a problem, my eating habits are. I don’t usually eat much, I don’t…[Read more]

    Gabriel

“Him?” The voices in Gabriel’s head sounded like many, their voices shrill like a withered banshee spirits, groping at his mind. “Are you hearing voices as well?” He hoped she wasn’t. He hated the voices. Every moment he felt himself wanting more and more to shout at them, even though he knew it would be in vain. He wanted…[Read more]

I’ve accidentally gone to bed with my handsome blue trench coat on and I’m sorely tempted to fall asleep in it and make it a routine. You’re telling me I can be comfortable and stylish in bed? 💅

    Keep drawing while you can!

    Yes she does

Lucy pointed at the empty place. Then, confused, she put her hand down.  “I – I’ve got a… Are you hearing him?”

Jealous. I’m in an art slump. Not happy with anything I draw, which might mean I’m on the cusp of a breakthrough…? But not counting on it.

Oof, yeah. I get that. I had that for a literal year once, then I started drawing again, and now I’ve been off and on. I’ll draw fervently for like a week or two usually, then hit art block for a…[Read more]

It depends on what a “slap on the face” is. I think a slap on the face is a betrayal of the reader, or unfairly maximizing/minimizing something to manipulate reader emotion, or wasting the reader’s time.

This would be a betrayal if the arc was about survival or hinged on Baron’s survival. But his arc seems entirely spiritual. He’s concluded…[Read more]

Funnily enough, I fell asleep XD.

    Good!

My work is done, I got my Negative argument all formulated, now it’s just doing it tomorrow without a panic attack.

    Is this Lincoln-Douglas or policy?

Now that that’s done, I’m chilling and redrawing Baron artwork.

    Lucille

The headless man lifted a hand. His fingers trembled feebly as he held them up to his neck, as if trying to see them. He jerked back as he realized his eyes were gone.

    “Lucy, it’s okay.”

Lucy snapped free of paralysis. The figure’s ashy skin peeled away, like petals wrinkling into brown dust, and he vanished from the foot of her b…[Read more]

They’ve had good a mock trial and some awesome debate issues in the past (like arguing the death penalty, but you can’t bring in the Bible, only from a logos, ethos, and pathos standpoint)

    Sounds good!

How is your work going? I think I had the same debate topic once, not sure. I’m sorry it’s not a pleasant task for you…

  • If you haven’t read the Baron Chronicles and don’t want a huge spoiler, please don’t read.

So, for those who have read the Baron Chronicles, quick recap. Baron is an assassin who turns away from being an assassin to, originally, find some kind of good in the world to do, feeling beyond forgiveness. Obviously, he does end up getting saved.

    But…[Read more]

I really should have replied earlier, I’m sorry.

You’re fine! I was not up last night and I’m replying rather late now; it’s not a big deal for you to do the same.
