That’s a healthy place to be writing from, both of you- understanding the other viewpoint and your own convictions both is of paramount importance, and I do see both of your points. I agree with both of them, in temperance.
At this point I feel I don’t really have anything to add on in this debate that wouldn’t be redundant or just further…[Read more] -

Good point Rosey.
Oh, other thing. I’m not trying to erase the negative connotations about them. I’m just asking that they be used correctly if at all.

Well, is everything relative? Nope.
I think here’s the thing.
Knowing what is the right thing to do and doing it is different. You may know that something is wrong, and you may still want to write it in a positive light. Now that you have that speck of knowledge placed in you, you can’t just flick it out and pretend it’s not there. Maybe heart…[Read more] -

Going off of what Daniel just said-
Firstly, I think this is an issue of ‘what should christians write in general’ not merely just zombies or vampires.
When you put it that way, it’s a bit of an ‘am i my brother’s keeper’ thing, to a small extent. Just because we have the right and ability to write something, should we? That’s the question of…[Read more] -

Emma replied to the topic Tintin and Knocking Characters Out in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
Yes, people getting knocked out is a too casually and cheaply used occurrence in books. With taste, it’s great. But they just tend to be a way to get out of situations, rather than a realistic occurrence.
random thing: TINTIN THE MOVIE THOUGH

Ray Bradbury is pretty fantastic.
How do you like his open endings? I know a lot of people didn’t like how F451 came to a climax and close so suddenly, and was so character driven, but those are some of the things that I liked about it, honestly.
Really? Yeah, his style is very….stylized xD I got muddled more towards middle/end on the first…[Read more] -

Emma replied to the topic The Perfect Protagonist in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 2 months ago
A perfect protagonist and a perfect person are different.
Perfect characters are rather unlikable. What I consider a good protagonist is one that is far from perfect. Flaws can be relatable. Flaws can show human nature.Flaws can be endearing. Flaws can show God’s hand at work. Flaws can show a character arc towards improvement. Flaws can…[Read more]
