@freedomwriter76 Oo noice. My current favorite WIP is a scifi retelling of Cain and Abel mixed with the Parable of the Prodigal Son.
Noice, 27k words is a lot! You got this, I believe in you!

@freedomwriter76 Wow, lots of Christian music. You can also make playlists on Youtube if you have that.
Great selection! Makes me want to hear more about your WIP.

@freedomwriter76 I like them enough, don’t actively follow them but they have some songs I really like, haha. They’re pretty catchy.
Do you have any playlists you’d like to share?

@freedomwriter76 I make playlists occasionally for short stories if I’m feeling bored, or just add songs I think fit with a novel to a playlist to eventually sort out, heh. I think they’re somewhere on Spotify? I’d share if anyone wants t see em.

Lin replied to the topic What do you love most about your current WIP? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 8 months ago
@kathleenramm Honestly I really like how well everything’s tying together for it (plot, themes, character, worldbuilding, backstory, etc etc). Probably my most structured novel yet? I’m enjoying the single POV and small cast of characters, a nice change of pace from my usual big casts, as well as structuring internal and external conflict to all…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic Do you prefer simple or complex storylines? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 8 months ago
@kathleenramm Complex. The more complex the possible. I don’t want to know what’s gonna happen. At least when reading.
Writing…hhh I want to get good at complex storylines.

@valtmy Change all the races of my characters for the sake of diversity (though idk why they would my MC is Asian), adding a love triangle (or three), change the ending (by making it happy isntead of vague and tragic and open), and adding a lot more daddy issues than I originally intended there to be.

Lin replied to the topic Have you ever written a sad ending to a story? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 9 months ago
@kathleenramm A lot. Well, not sure. Most of my endings are bittersweet; in fact, I can’t think of a single fully happy ending. But there was one story (that I think you’ve read?) where every single character loses everything and there’s no way to recover that, and it was the result of all their own choices throughout the story.
Still one of my…[Read more]

Lin replied to the topic Have you ever written a story that took place in your hometown? in the forum Topic of the Week 3 years, 9 months ago
@kathleenramm I’ve had some places based off of places near where I live, though I never mention them by name. I used to mention street names though, haha.
One time I did read a book set in my hometown (it was never explicitly stated but I figured it out using context clues) and hoo boi that was weird.

@denali-christianson Not me making like all my characters Asian because I’m Asian heh….
Okay I had this convo with someone else a few months ago so let me just copy/paste it here…
for me, i honestly don’t like it when diversity is forced in a book. if you feel like your character should be white, then make them white, if not, then make them…

Yeah, they totally are.
I know this is an old topic, but believe it or not, Boba, Jango, and Din Djarin inspired my warrior people, the Realn. They are probably also the only reason I had any interest in Star Wars at all!
Wow this really was from 2 years ago 🙃 I feel old and lost
@rae The Mandalorians are so cool, aren’t they? I’m a bit partial to the clones, the way they were portrayed in the animated TV shows (Clone Wars, Rebels, Bad Batch), but I can agree the Mandalorians are an awesome group, both in their show and all the others.
It’s also really cool that they inspired your own people group!
