@kathleenramm I was at a speech and debate competition for homeschoolers, and I guess they happened to be in the same region. I saw their last name, asked the youngest kid if he knew Josiah DeGraaf, and responded with, “Yeah, he’s my brother.” Needless to say, I was shook.

@gracie-j Ah, multi-tasking. ‘Tis an art 😉
What’s the genre of your book?

@gracie-j Hi! 🙂 I’m working on editing again. You?

@gracie-j Are you still around?

@scoutfinch180 The Japanese term “manga” and Korean term “manhwa” are actually cognates of the Chinese term “manhua” so I use them interchangeably. 🙂
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself? Or anything you want to ask me?

@scoutfinch180 Tron Legacy was one of my favorite movies for the longest time. Still is. Fahrenheit 451 is also one of my favorite books. I’ve been tempted to check out Dune since I heard that Hans Zimmer was making the soundtrack for the new movie…don’t know if I will, though.
Webtoon is essentially serialized manga/manhua that I read a lot…[Read more]

@kathleenramm Is that so? Then I’ll it to my to-watch list. And maybe get to it after… *squints at list* Yeah, when I have some free time.
I was too lazy to learn how to reread sheet music for the kalimba so I mainly just play by ear. It’s good practice for transposing different songs into the key of C and helps me remember the main melody of…[Read more]

@scoutfinch180 Ooh, those stories all sound really unique! Something like I’d want to read.
I’ve heard good things about Avatar but haven’t brought myself around to touching it. A little on the mainstream side.
Write comics? I haven’t really thought about doing it, but I think it would be cool if I could write a story for a Webtoon sometime; I…[Read more]

(Oh looks like left align failed :P)
@scoutfinch180 To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book. I really loved it when we read it.
Yeah, I mainly read classics and manga. Not really in the mood for anything else.
Do you have any other story ideas/projects that you’ve worked on or want to work on?

@gracie-j Rainan would give money to a crazy uncle if he had one. He doesn’t really care for money and besides, most of the charities, if there were any, would probably be out to get him.
@nova21 I don’t think any of my characters own a castle…if they did it would have gotten destroyed long ago. As Hoen has already basically built his manor…[Read more]

@scoutfinch180 Hello there! I’m a high school graduate who’s in a gap year now, and as a result I have time to do National Novel Writing Month. My WIP is a Beauty and the Beast retelling and I’m very happy with it 🙂
Also, I hope to be a speech therapist, so I expect to work a lot with speech impairments in the future, but I haven’t really been e…[Read more]

@alia It’s setting the chapter/book up to dramatic and mysterious, so I think as long as you follow through on the promise very quickly, it’s all good!

SeekJustice replied to the topic What's the biggest mistake you made when you first started writing? in the forum Topic of the Week 5 years, 6 months ago
First of all, I completely agree about MacGuffins. They’re not bad, after all, I would argue that LOTR is a reverse-MacGuffin-quest-thing, but they’re often lazy.
Secondly! My worst mistake? I don’t know exactly, but a lot of my early stories and novels suffered from far too many main characters and subplots connected to those…[Read more]

@r-m-archer Pebble falls asleep whenever, wherever, so he would probably go with the first. Eleven hates bothering with things, though, so probably the latter.
Would your character rather switch bodies with their love interest or their rival/worst enemy?

@lewilliams Calloway already stays at home all the time. A certified neet, he is.
Would your character rather sleep for a hundred years or be awake for 10 days in a row working?
