Daeus replied to the topic What does the future look like? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 9 months ago
Entirely beyond my capacity to predict. Way too many factors, most ones we wouldn’t even think of. If you’re writing for, 2290 though, my best idea would be to have a global collapse, and rising dictators, though not an all out dystopia, and then have things improve from there and then have 2290 be when things are starting to dip back down again.…[Read more]

Yes, agreed. It would be a mistake to put Rey and Fin together. Not that it would be bad necessarily, but there’s just no reason to.

Howdy Charis. Welcome, welcome, and welcome (to the bestistest place on the internet, that is). We actually rarely talk just about a certain genre, but maybe if you want to go start a thread on one, that could be cool. If you talk on here for a bit, you’ll soon come to see what we talk about.

I don’t read lots of mysteries, but Sherlock Holmes was always one of my favorites. Well, except for the kid’s version of The Speckled Band which left me terrified a snake would appear from nowhere when I was younger. 😉 The Valley of Fear is my favorite book (because of the plot twist, among other things…) I also enjoyed the Father Brown…[Read more]

@christi-eaton Oh, sure. It’s coming along pretty well so hopefully won’t be too long.
@zcpeterson Thou art officially warned to read the count of monte cristo, the punishment for not doing so being that you will not have read it, at which apocalypse the angels will surely weep for you.

My goals are by the end of the year to totally finish up with editing Edwin Brook as well as totally finishing up my novelette (btw @kate-flournoy, are you still up for that?), and then I want to get the first draft of my next novel written.

Hurray @dragon-snapper!

Wordsmith and legendweaver reporting for duty.
I’m planing to finish editing my novel, Fidelyon in a few weeks. I’m also hoping to finish my third Legends of Light novella and get that polished up enough for beta-readers by the end of October (or November). And I’m attempting NaNo this year! *brandishes pen,…[Read more]

You are lucky with your dreams, @corissa-maiden-of-praise. Mine aren’t nearly as exciting. I do dream about some books or movies on occasion, but not my own. My own ‘exciting’ dream last week had to do with my brothers getting up earlier and me trying to keep them in bed so I could have some quiet time… *smirks*

@overcomer Yep. I’ll be writing that as soon as I can get the time away from editing my other works.

@Overcomer Wrote three chapters out of intended five. Not much, but I’ve been doing a lot of editing and that’s been coming along pretty well. I think I also rewrote my novelette.

I didn’t know you could do that, @bluejay …I’ll have to keep that in mind. 😉
@julia-r If your photo is already online somewhere, like Pinterest, you can skip several steps and just click your picture then select and copy the link. Come back and push the little ‘img’ button and go from there like bluejay said.

@Overcomer Well, I finished and published Song of the Sword this summer, which was exciting. I also wrote up my third novella for Legends of Light…and now I’m scraping it and rewriting it this fall for reasons. And I’m almost finished editing my fantasy novel, Fidelyon!

@bluejay Ummm…how would a shell breaking on a wooden floor sound? Like an egg shell or a sea shell? I’d think maybe a high tinkling or cracking sound…

Can you give it a comparison @hope?
Rather than just a high tinkling or cracking sound, but like the sound of glass or a branch?
*winces* *rubs forehead* Let’s see…
I’m assuming it’s not an egg, or else it would just give a mushy splat. (Though I may be wrong…tell me if I am.) The problem is I’ve never actually heard a shell breaking, but if I were to take a guess I might compare a shell breaking to brittle crunch, the shattering of thin glass, or the cracking of a stone…
@hope No, you’re not wrong. It is a sea shell. I feel as if I need to find one and experiment with it. 😉
It would have to be a pretty thin sea shell to break when dropped on a wood floor. I have small ones and they’re pretty tough, though if it were stepped on… But a large one wouldn’t be stepped on, and if it’s large then it’s probably thick so if it broke, it might just break in half…?
