Well, I’d have all their vehicles be bulletproof. And maybe they could be set up so you could drive them into the water and they’d submerge and slip in or out of places that way. Also, weapons (lethal or stun type guns) could be in place…out of sight, of course, but in place for easy defense. They could also probably pick up all kinds of…[Read more]

Daniel#2 Space travel…I think I might comprehended about half of that. But it’s still cool. I don’t have space travel in this book but I’ll have to remember that for sometime else.
Do you have any thoughts on laser weapons or the possibility of laser weapons that will shoot a programmed distance and then ‘fizzle out’ so they are lethal after…[Read more]

Hope Ann started the topic One Year Adventure Novel in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 1 month ago
I’ve been hearing about the One Year Adventure Novel curriculum from various people and am wondering who here has/is taking it and what you think? Is it worth the price? About what writing level is it for. (Though I have written a few books of my own, I by no means claim to be an expert on writing. But is this something I would still get a lot…[Read more]

What if you had gloves that came up to your elbow; tight, skin-fitting type gloves so you could use your whole lower arm?

Hope Ann replied to the topic Help Wanted: Brainstorming! in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 9 years, 1 month ago
For communication, you could have some sort of skin colored patch, like a small circle sticker, that could fit in a persons ear and be practically invisible. That could be good for incoming communication anyway. For outgoing you could either have small microphones on a shirt, or maybe even something that melds into the skin of the hand or face so…[Read more]

@sarah-h Those are some wonderful ideas. Do you (or your brother) have any other thoughts on futuristic technology for the ‘Futuristic Weapons’ thread? 😉

Also, when I think of futuristic stuff, I think of lots of cameras. Very tiny but high quality cameras that can be stuck in corners of rooms or flown around on tiny drones (or drones that look like animals).

Hope Ann replied to the topic Cliffhangers and Cliched Titles in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 1 month ago
I think one way to write a good cliffhanger is to reveal a sudden twist and then break off as everyone is staring at the character who’s revealed himself (or whatever). If it’s a chapter end, you could go to someone else in the next chapter (if you have more than one pov). Or you could end a book that way. That’s what I’m doing in the second book…[Read more]

I think the sword line works pretty well considering the rhyme works. It’s better than anything else I can think of, even though I did comment on it. The bow line could probably be more powerful though.

Alright…but I was only 8. I don’t have the exact words of the story, but this is pretty much it.
Hope and Joy went to the park. A dog ran at them. An angel came and scared the dog away.

I love it…I somehow missed seeing it the first time around. I do have one suggestion, though it’s more personal option on wording and not on the flow.
The shield is shattered,
The bow is not bent,
And the sword has now lost
All its sharpness.I love the first line, but I think second line would be more powerful if it said something about…[Read more]

Small pen guns are cool. And I always love the concealed weapons in sleeves and such. Hmm, there could be things that look like perfume except if it’s inhaled it will put the enemy to sleep. There can also be cameras on buttons or pens in a person’s pocket. Or there can be other tiny cameras planted around (or even trackers planted on the…[Read more]

Hope Ann replied to the topic Why do you write? in the forum General Writing Discussions 9 years, 1 month ago
Don’t know…it’s very inconvenient at times but I can’t help it. 😉 But I’ve too many stories in my head to ignore. And I also want to write inspiring fiction for young Christian adults…books like the ones I looked for and couldn’t find when I was younger.

I just created a facebook account today for writing. You can see it here. Anyway, I was wondering who on here has facebook. And I had a few questions: 1. Is there a way you can see how many people are following you? 2. And is there a way that you can link a blog to facebook so when you post on your blog it will appear on facebook too?

Thanks for your help and suggestions, everyone. I’ve yet to settle on a final name, but I’ve got some good ideas from this. I might try to combine some of the ideas. Two ideas I got last night were:
The Final Clash

While not music to listen while writing, does anyone like old ballads? Most of them have to do with romance and end with someone dying, but you can good ideas and lines from some of them. More particularity, has anyone heard The Highwayman? I was mesmerized the first time I heard it.

The end of The Warden and the Wolf King (last book of the Wingfeather Saga) made me tear up. I was in a bit of shock over what the author actually did. Has anyone read the Wingfeather Saga…very good books.
The end of Mockingjay made me cry too, but for the opposite reason…there was so much hopelessness and despair.
