*host site, not sight.

I’ve been looking up wordpress.org (I was on .com before) and apparently part of the difference is that I can make no sense of how to get started. How do I choose a host sight and what, in normal language, is a web server…how do I even start this? Help, please!

OK, I will. What is the difference?

Also, I was looking at the top of this website…is one row of tabs pages and the other a menu? Or are they both menus? I assume if I make my menu the main navigation tab, only the things I put there will show up.

Thanks, @daeus. I’ve spent part of the afternoon messing around on WordPress and now that I see all the things I can do, I’m wondering why I didn’t start there. 😉 One question, where does one go to create a category. And do you know what exactly the portfolio tab does? Could I link books there?

I’m considering moving my blog from blogger to wordpress. Who here has a WordPress blog? Does anyone have some helpful tips as I try to find my way around? And does anyone know how the menus work, if you can create a linked page, and if you can post to individual pages or if all your blog posts go to the home page (like blogger)?

Yes, wes talks to ourself all the time, precious. 😉 Well, not out loud unless I’m alone, but I do think to myself. Yes, that’s a thing. I have whole conversations in first/second person, making myself laugh in the process. Is that crazy enough?
Love your color characters, by the way. 😉

Enclave publishing has a list of Christian conferences that I found. Here it is if anyone is interested. I haven’t looked though them all yet, but am hoping to go to one this year. (I’ve divided up the link because it’s not letting me post it).

Aliens invade earth, but are quickly surprised at how much stronger humans are than themselves.
Or and Alien invasion with humans being the aliens and invading another planet.
A character falls from his world into a strange new one, only he happens to be a prince/peasant boy who enters modern times.

Select whatever you want to to put in quotes and then push the ‘b-quote’ button along the top of your post and it will make it look like you’ve quote something (if I’m understanding your question right).

Evil dragons with long teeth who are scared of the dark.
Love that!
An assassin who knits while waiting for victims to show up.
Knights who are trying to capture a dragon princess.
A mermaid who hates water.
A griffin afraid of heights.
And a fantasy where the character who comes into the fantasy land tries to take over and the people of…[Read more]

Firstly, the topic title is based off a chapter title from somewhere. I wish I’d thought of it myself, but I didn’t.
Secondly, I thought it would be fun to have a ‘mix-up’ thread where we can share random ‘opposite type’ idea, contradictions in characters, and things that aren’t normally done, like a middle-aged woman being transported to a…[Read more]

@spradlin I just wanted to say that I’m interested in opportunities to help with Kingdom Pen if help is needed. I know there was something posted about that awhile back, and I mentioned helping in an e-mail, and I think it was forwarded to someone, but nothing ever came of it… 🙂

This isn’t an idea, but I just want to say that I love the weekly prompts. I want to try to enter more this year, but it’s fun to be able to write up short scenes or see what other people have written up.
One thing which is a random idea…it would be cool if there were weekly or semiweekly good Christian writing music posts, with a section for…[Read more]

Do you have Pinterest @gretald? When planning characters, it helps me to find pictures of them. I can’t always do this, but most of the time I can find one. And, strange as it may sound, the picture (as well as the name) quite often helps me in developing the character…it suggests all sorts of possibilities about if the character is serious,…[Read more]
