“We need to find Au-” Tren glanced around at the others. “I mean, Queen Silvae. Carrie’s cat bit her and it doesn’t look good.”
At the words, Fennin spun around, looking at Ellis and Zahlin.
“My mother, is she dead? Hurt? Where is she?”

“She’s Fennin’s mother. I’ve called her Auntie since the day I could talk. We’re going to find her and you aren’t going to help anyone until you can use both hands to do it.” Tren led Carrie into the unburned part of the palace, walking down the halls, and calling names. Periodically, he spoke in Lillening. They heard voices,…[Read more]

Tren
Tren took her hand again, inspecting it.
“We don’t impale people. Don’t worry, I’m sure Fennin won’t be to angry. He isn’t that sort of person, usually.”

Tren looked at he hand, almost entirely black.
“We need that to get checked out.” He managed to say between coughs. The bite didn’t look natural.

“Yeah, it would’ve helped. I was looking for a mammel with flaming fur!” Tren grabbed Carrie, pulling her out of the way as a flaming beam fell. He coughed after he set her down, barely able to take in a breath. “We need to hurry, this place is really smoking.” They jumped over another flaming beam, spotting an exit. Coughing,…[Read more]

Tren stared intently into the smoke.
“All I see is smoke and a purple blob.”
“That’s him! Fire Face!” The cat bounded up, squeaking.
“A purple cat, what next? Okay, grab him and let’s get out of here.”

Carrots! Carrots of all things!
“Well, then he’ll definitely be in the kitchen.” Tren tripped over something and slammed into the floor. Lifting himself half up he groped for what he tripped over, it was a table leg. “This way, I think the kitchen is this way, but if it’s not, we’ll have to follow the walls. Call him again!”

Boxes. Cabinets. The kitchen to the dining hall had plenty of those, plus food.
“Follow me.” Tren navigated through the smoke and flames. “Tel me when you see anything from the dining hall, I need to get to the kitchen, he could be there.”

TrenÂ
Tren stopped.
“You need to soak that hand. Besides, the fire’s still going, I don’t need you getting any more hurt.” He hid behind his back his arm with the burn on it. She didn’t need to use his argument against him.

“What?!” You mean he started the fire?” Carrie nodded. “Stay here, I need to go find a kitten, what’s his name?”
“Fire F-face.” Carrie looked at the ground.
“Alright, stay where you are and I’ll return your little face of fire.” Tren bolted for the burning palace.

“Um. So the fire…”
“Oh, yeah, it was probably started by the Gilgannings, don’t worry about it. We don’t have much fire hazards around usually, in fact last time there was a fire, I was just a child. Don’t worry, it most likely won’t happen again. Plus, the flames semi to be during down a little bit now, I’d say it’ll be out…[Read more]

Leading her arparound a low wall, Tren brought her to a beautiful flower garden with an entire asortment of gorgeous blooms and bushes untouched by the fire. In the center was a bubbling fountain with light opaque blue water. He led her near and gently set her hand in the pool of water, near the edge where the cold water was…[Read more]
