@Audrey-Caylin *high-fives back* Yayyy. I sure hope so. The funniest thing is that the other two books – the characters actually fail at the story goal, and the situation just gets worse and worse. So by bok three I suddenly stopped and thought “WAIT. I have to make them win??? NOOO HOW AM I MEANT TO ACTUALLY DEFEAT THIS BAD GUY???” Luckily I have…[Read more]

@Audrey-Caylin, oh yep! I rather enjoy plotting -most of the time- also. Except for the few times when a) I simply want to flop on the floor and give up or b) I’m freaking out because it’s the finale of my trilogy and I just can’t get it wrong because it’s so important.
Nice. 😛 The feedback I often get is “Why, Jane…Why?” Actually, it’s often…[Read more] -

@Audrey-Caylin yep something to do with words. 😛
At this stage I’m plotting, so let’s see how long that lasts. 😀 -

@Audrey-Caylin I’ll be plotting/alpha reading/editing/who know what I”ll actually end up doing. XD

@audrey-caylin Yes–that is definitely the danger of using Method #1. But I agree. The more different you make their initial situations, the more depth you can get with this arc!

@audrey-caylin Looks good. I agree it’s probably the closest to #2 since they both are dealing with very different aspects of the same problem. The arcs don’t have to happen simultaneously, so the way you’re doing it sounds good. 🙂

That’s great, @audrey-caylin! I know, I went through a time when I’d go to bed without having read my Bible at all that day! In Proverbs it says, “Why is there in the hand of a fool the purchase price of wisdom, since he has no heart for it?” (Proverbs 17:16) Oh, that convicted me and challenged me to ask myself whether I had a heart for God’s…[Read more]

Hi guys!
This is a scripture-memorization thread. If you have memorized any scripture – or reviewed any scripture you’ve memorized – recently, please post what you memorized/reviewed to encourage and motivate the rest of us! 😀 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You. ~ Psalm 119:11

@daeus Nice count! I copied down 4 pages worth of transitional phrases (because I really should use more of those) and logged all my characters.

@audrey-caylin Nice–that seems like a very effective way to make him the best villain possible for her arc as she struggles to learn forgiveness. I would say he fits the Tempter type the best.

@daeus 9 to 11! I think I would go blind by reading that long! Wait, maybe that’s my problem. *note to self: set aside time to read* 😛
@Audrey-caylin Don’t worry, I haven’t read Harry Potter, and I have no idea what Ravenclaw is, except for the thing at the end of a Raven’s foot. -

Fall and Winter months are over, and that’s crazy, but its true. Just yesterday I made the Fall and Winter Goals topic. Or maybe that wasn’t yesterday, but either way, it feels like that.
Well, I was able to complete my goal last time, finishing my novel before the appointed time, and since it worked so nicely last time, I figured I’d make…[Read more] -

@audrey-caylin @ethryndal It’s amazing. This year we had about 1780 kids. Every year the theme is different, but it’s always super in depth. This year is was all the big homeschool fandoms, so like the ballroom was Star Wars (with the Death Star in the middle) We had full sets and parents dressed in really detailed costumes from Star Wars, Star…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin The book is now added to my three-hundred-some book list. 😉
Thanks for the feedback there! That’s great to know. And yes–interpersonal conflict like that is the best.

@audrey-caylin What Daeus said. You can have non-personal antagonistic forces, but something like that would just be a negative EiL
@kate-flournoy Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I love how Eldred functions as the villain here. That’s fantastic. Would Eldred be the Primary Tempter then, or does he function more as one of the other roles? And then Egann…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin Yes; mentors can make great antagonists–and I really like the way you use that antagonism to make the protagonist doubt the mentor’s loyalty. The mentor sounds like an influencer to me.
The primary difference between a foil and influencer is how directly the character tries to move the protagonist to their position. Since it…[Read more]

@audrey-caylin Great to hear that! What do you think made this lesson the most interesting lesson yet for you?
Haven’t read either of those books unfortunately, but both look like good examples!
