Hmm, Sherlock’s detective style. I like the cold, hard, logical approach as opposed to some detective stories where quite a bit of it is a hunch. That being said, there are many things Sherlock figures out which I think are quite lucky guesses. I haven’t read Sign of Four before, but I’m thinking that Watson’s attraction to Mary is entwined with the main story plot somehow, like Sarah said. I also think it serves to contrast Watson’s character and Sherlock Holmes’s character. Watson is much more emotional and open about his emotions, whereas Holmes doesn’t have much emotion at all.…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy Similes (or metaphors) should be stated as fact, not comparison. I really like that. There’s been lots of good points made. I’m not thinking of any more right now except, to sum up some of the points… ‘write with confidence’. Leave off the seems and likes and hads and other little words. You know what you are writing. Act like it. 😉

Ah, I’m jealous of you guys who are editing. As for me, I’m still trying out outline. And I need the outline done by the 4th. I’ve a feeling I’ll be figuring out some things as I write this time. 😉
