Yep. It’s the same for me, especially with the time differences. 🙁 Right now I’m plodding along with my WIP…
Oh wow that’s interesting. Unless the story is really, really simple (which my plot ideas never are) I don’t think I have it in me to write a short story, not to mention execute a well-written villain in one.
If it were me I’ll probably write in the POV of the villain (who does not think of himself as such) or write a non-human villain like a natural disaster or something which does not need as much characterisation (though that may seem like cheating). 😛
So how’re you tackling the challenge?

Well… yeah, I never said it was going to be easy. *cough* It does have to be a character and not just an antagonistic force. Because we are trying to write better villains and learn from trying, partially (we did read some articles beforehand).
But what I’m doing is setting it at the climax (to keep it short) and trying to figure out what lead to this and how to show it instead of making the villain monologue. I also went for a familiar genre. So basically the unshown lead up is, this princess, Eliza, was going to be crowned. Her uncle tries to kill her (kinda unoriginal, but I’m trying to focus on the villain so I’m just going with it). Eliza somehow escapes, but everyone thinks she died and her uncle becomes king. Later she kills him for revenge, unfortunately no one knows who she is or recognizes her, so they want to kill her because she killed the king.
So the story’s hero is the son of her uncle. He is different than his uncle though. But since Eliza is still trying to take back the throne she has kinda gone a bit crazy and is attacking the castle with her army. She wants to defeat the MC cause she thinks it’s her throne. But the MC can’t let her cause she’s crazy and he is supposed to be king now. So the actual story is her invading the castle and the MC battling her. That’s the gist anyways.IMMA KAPEEFER! I think that idea’s great! I like Eliza, she sounds like one of my own villains whom I absolutely adore! 😀

Thanks. Cause I forgot I was supposed to write it and had to come up with the idea today and it’s due tomorrow evening. I was scared earlier cause I was stumped, so I doodled and searched Pinterest until I figured out what she looked like. Now for the MC. m’kay. That’s right. I need an MC… o-o
See this is why I entered a 48 hour writing contest. Cause with Procrastination and her friends hanging around, “write a story in 48 hours” is basically what I do for short stories anyway. XDWhich story are you working on?

Haha how did you decide on Eliza? Maybe you can narrow it down based on what would be appropriate based on the setting and the other names.

I’d heard the name before and I liked it, so I wanted to use it for a character and I thought it would fit her.
