@alia Can I read your story?
@seekjustice I absolutely loved your idea for a Northanger Abbey retelling where the protagonist reads too many sci-fi novels!!!Β That would be hilarious! And I completely wish you had put in “You disrupt the balance of my life!”Β That would be so cool.Β It’s one of the best lines ever. π π

Hey. I’ll be on a while (not writing though) but will most likely disappear again. Please don’t mind.
August 6, 2018 at 10:38 pm #75995@rochellaine of course I forgive you. (No I’m not writing right now. I might be on while writing tomorrow.)
IMMA KAPEEFER! Til we're old and gray!
August 7, 2018 at 12:39 am #75996I love the idea of that too! I’ll probably eventually write it π
That line was actually meant for the third book, so it’ll still end up in there π
Are you around this fine night?

August 7, 2018 at 12:51 am #75997@seekjustice Wonderful!Β It seems like it would be much more comedic than your Infinity series. πΒ But…but you hate Jane Austen.Β So, when and how did you convince yourself to read Northanger Abbey?
Oh, sounds great. πΒ I thought it would be something he’d say to Chessy, though, and it seemed like by the third book they’d be basically engaged, since they got so close at the end of Empty, and it seems like it would be strange for him to say that at that point.Β So does he say it to someone else, or do they have a fight, or what?Β Hm, I’m interested in finding out what goes on in the third book. π

August 7, 2018 at 1:06 am #75998I have read Jane Austen though. And Northanger Abbey is the only one of her books that I really liked, not that I loved it, but I did enjoy it, and I’ve seen the movie. I think I mostly liked it because I liked Mr Tilney.
Basically engaged might be taking it a bit far, but can you imagine Chessy and Justice not arguing about anything?
The third book is like when you go through your knitting bag and find a massive knot of thirty skeins of wool all tangled together. And then you have to pull it apart string by string…
Yeah, that’s the third book so far.

August 7, 2018 at 1:25 am #75999@seekjustice I don’t have the book.Β I think the only Austen books we have are Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice.Β Oh, and Mansfield Park.Β Out of those four I hated one, liked another, and two were neutral, but I have no idea which book goes in which category, since I quit Austen after that. π
I only got Pride and Prejudice because I liked the 40s movie with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier, but I think they changed a lot of stuff in that adaption. π
Oh…I kind of prefer the viewpoint that “a man should never tell a woman he loves her unless he asks her to marry him in the next sentence.”Β While I don’t require strict adherence to this policy, it seems quite wise as a basic guideline.

August 7, 2018 at 1:43 am #76000I’ve listened to a radio adaption of Mansfield Park and I liked the actors but the storyline was kind of “eh”. I’ve read an abridged version of Sense and Sensibility and I’ve read part of Pride and Prejudice, but I never finished it. I think I liked Northanger Abbey because it is essentially a critique of romance novels π whilst still being a romance novel.
You don’t know that heΒ wasn’tΒ about to propose to her, after all he was interrupted. He just never got that far.
