Hey that makes me actually kind of want to read it. ๐
FYI: One of my favourite animes is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure which, as you might be able tell from the title, is pretty bizarre. (Just to give you an idea, one of the story arcs involved Nazi soldiers fighting vampires using UV lamps). So I’m actually fine with the ridiculous. However, the style and tone has to be on point.
July 21, 2018 at 11:56 pm #75407@dekreel hi, thanks for tagging me, but I can’t write at the moment. I just got back from a writing conference and I am wiped. out. I hope to be on the corner next week more though. ๐
Happy writing!

www.jennaterese.comJuly 21, 2018 at 11:57 pm #75408@rochellaineย Yes, yes, I know… Hey, at least I didn’t STOP coming here all together. ๐
“Sentient being.” Yeah. I might just start using that phrase. XD
Poor Bobert! Maybe he likes Jen because she’s a Steampunk horse. Because honestly, there are few things more awesome than a Steampunk horse.
@valtmyย Oyy, that’s tough! I hope you’re enjoying your job.You can pronounce it however you want.
July 22, 2018 at 12:02 am #75409Wow, I cannot believe how badly I messed up @jenwriter17’s tag in the last post! ๐ Ah well, Jen, I was just saying that you’re one of Bobert’s favorite “sentient beings” in case you ever wondered. ๐

July 22, 2018 at 12:08 am #75410@valtmy Haha, well, maybe you can help me with some ideas.ย I need a whole bunch of completely ridiculous and impossible ways to fake someone’s death.ย (I thought I would have to ask @seekjustice ๐ But if you’re willing…)ย I’ll give you a couple of examples to show you what I mean.
Ways to Fake Deaths
Example #1: Rent a private helicopter, take a dummy with you.ย Plant papers showing name of person whose death is to be faked on the dummy.ย Drop dummy out of helicopter into burning building.ย When they are searching the burned building they will find the papers and the burned dummy and assume the person died.
Example #2: Have the person whose death is to be faked get sick.ย He is taken to the hospital.ย Hack the heart measurement machine so that it flatlines.ย The doctors will believe he is dead, then they will send him to be buried.ย Steal the not-dead body out of the morgue.
…so…can you think of any more ridiculous ways to fake someone’s death? ๐

July 22, 2018 at 12:29 am #75411I do not know how to fake someone’s death. I have never done it before
๐
Never. Not even to Zac.

July 22, 2018 at 12:34 am #75412Sorry I keep missing you! I was at church this morning you see ๐
Welcome back! Does your family go camping much?
Yeah, I didn’t like that, and it’s generally not my style (Oh, I loveย Brigadoon! Its pretty much the only exception to the old musical dislike. And I don’t mind Mary Poppins. But other than that…)
I did think Gordon MacRae was a pretty good actor, I wasn’t as much a fan of the girl who played Julie though. She just seemed….wooden.
(by the way, I mentioned to my mum that you thought Justice would look like Clint Eastwood and she goes “I can see that”. She also can, apparently, imagine Quillon looking like Frankie Avalon. :P)

July 22, 2018 at 12:36 am #75413Haha this sounds fun. Some of my ideas:
#1: Wear small bags of pig’s blood under clothes and pretend to get ‘shot’ in front of several witnesses.
#2: Rent a boat. Go out to sea. Get onto another boat. Sink your first boat.
#3: Find an area where a major disaster has happened (earthquake, hurricane etc.) and tell everyone that you are going to volunteer for disaster relief there. Once there, bribe an official to issue a death certificate for you and say that you died in an accident while doing relief work (got hit by debris etc.) and have been buried in a mass grave.
#4: Go hiking in the woods where bears etc. roam. Leave behind some bloody clothes and some of your things.
Hmm… these actually seem quite reasonable. I don’t think my mind goes into the ridiculous very much ๐
July 22, 2018 at 12:40 am #75414@dekreel I have to use the phrase all the time when talking about sci-fi with my brother. (which we do all the time, since we’re fans of Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, and a few other sci-fi movies/shows.)ย So to describe any character I’ll either say “sentient being” or “humanoid.”ย Just not all sentient beings are humanoids, so I have to use both.
I actually don’t like steampunk, (don’t scratch me!) so I was glad when she changed her picture back from that one. ๐
Do you have any crazy ideas about how to fake someone’s death?ย They’re not supposed to work.ย They’re just supposed to be things you would think up when it’s past midnight and you’ve been eating too much sugar at your little sister’s birthday party and your friends are over and you’re turning into pumpkins.ย Make sense?ย No?ย That’s the point. ๐

July 22, 2018 at 12:48 am #75415@seekjustice We don’t go camping very often.ย And unfortunately, it started to rain so we had to pack up and hike back up the trail pretty early this morning.ย At least we had one good night there. ๐
Well, that’s two out of what, eight?ย You haven’t even seen eight old musical films, have you?ย So the percentage isn’t all that low if you think about it. ๐ย Well, Shirley Jones is actually a pretty famous actress/singer.ย She was in a lot of films in the 50s and 60s and had a tv show in the 70s I think.ย I like her much better in Oklahoma!ย I think she’s kinda supposed to be a bit wooden in Carousel, isn’t she?ย But anyway, she’s not one of my favorites either.ย I just absolutely love Gordon MacRae.
Haha!ย But, how old is your mom?ย Wouldn’t she be too young to remember Frankie Avalon?ย He was at his height in the late 50s and early to mid 60s.ย However, a lot of younger people remember him from his cameo in Grease, so it could be from that.ย But he doesn’t remind me of Quillon there…hm, now you’ve confused me.ย (Also, sorry, I’m a huge Frankie Avalon fan, and all the dates of things are important to me. ๐ )
Come on.ย I bet you could think of at least one weird faking a death idea!ย Wait…Zac’s death wasn’t faked???ย Aaaaahhhh!!! ๐ ๐ ๐
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 22, 2018 at 12:51 am #75416@valtmy Haha!ย Thanks!!ย I actually do need one partially reasonable death faking idea, because they do need to truly fake a death in the story.ย So it’s okay if you thought of reasonable ones.
I like them a lot!ย My brother came up with a boat one, except he said they should explode the boat.ย Probably because he’s a guy, right?ย Guys like explosions.ย

July 22, 2018 at 12:59 am #75417Ah, that’s unfortunate. My family tends to stick the rain out and make us all miserable ๐
I’m not sure how many I’ve seen, I’d have to count. By the way, do you like the 19something version of Oklahoma or the Hugh Jackman version best?
I guess so, she just struck me as really naรฏve and not at all smart.
She’s in her forties, but I imagine my grandparents would know about him so she’s probably learnt about him from there. She knewย ofย him, but she had to look a picture of him up before she said she could imagine Quillon looking like that.
I probably could. The classic faked death is Sherlock Holmes’ pretend to fall off a waterfall one.

July 22, 2018 at 1:04 am #75418Great. Your story sounds interesting ๐
July 22, 2018 at 1:10 am #75419@seekjustice There are different things I like about each of them.ย Oh, and by the way, the Hugh Jackman version was from 1999, so it’s technically a “19-something version” too… ๐ The Jud character in Hugh Jackman’s version is much scarier than the 50s Jud is.ย I prefer Gordon MacRae singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” and I definitely very much prefer the “People Will Say We’re in Love” duet from the 50s version over Hugh Jackman’s version.ย I feel like Hugh Jackman and whoever the actress playing Laurie was completely ruined the intent of the song with their portrayal.ย The “Pore Jud is Daid” is the best part of Jackman’s Oklahoma, I think, but there are still some parts of it I like better in MacRae’s version.ย (I have analyzed and over-analyzed every line of each show in comparison with each other, as you can see. ๐ ) I like both proposal scenes equally well.ย I like Aunt Eller in both versions equally well.ย I probably prefer Gene Nelson over whoever played Will in Jackman’s version simply because Nelson is one of my all-time favorite dancer/actors, but I like both Ado Annie’s pretty well.
Anyway, I could go on for longer, but I don’t think you need me to. ๐ย Basically, I think you should watch both and make your own decision.ย Altogether I prefer the 50s version, but there are some parts of Jackman’s version I like better than some parts of the 50s movie.
Ah, that makes sense.
I know next to nothing about Sherlock Holmes, (though I’ve read an amazing Sherlock Holmes parody, which is absolutely hilarious) but I’ve seen/read the waterfall faked death several times, so I agree when you say “classic.”
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 22, 2018 at 1:15 am #75420@seekjustice And there’s another version of Oklahoma I’ve watched which is a 1943 restitution, supposedly as exactly as possible to the original production.ย They copied the costumes, the sets, the choreography and the original script exactly, and called in those who were still alive from the original production to help them figure it out.ย I also compare that one with the 50s movie and the Hugh Jackman production, but since you didn’t ask I didn’t give you the rundown on that.ย Besides, it would take too long.
So yes, we have now clearly established that I am an Oklahoma! nerd. ๐ ๐ I don’t know if there’s a single other musical I have analyzed nearly as much.ย I guess it’s similar to you with Les Mis, huh? ๐
