@valtmy That’s what happened to my western, unfortunately. 🙁 I definitely haven’t quit it, but I had to take a break because I wasn’t getting anywhere with it.
Ok, I went back and replied to your age question. I didn’t see what other questions you had asked, though. What were they?
@seekjustice Are you back from church yet? What do you think of how horribly I’m treating my little character, Bathshua? (I also saw that you halfway freaked out at the highwaymen scene… 😛 )
@catwing Okay, goodnight!
@dekreel Well, because there are a few pretty big differences between the two drafts, and I need to know which one you’re reading to be able to talk to you about it. And because some of the changes I love and some of them I don’t like very much. One of the things I don’t like is that Jean didn’t get to nickname Kai in the second draft, since I thought it was adorable that he did in the first draft. 😉But one of the cool things about the second draft is that SeekJustice made one of my fanfics canon! 😀 She liked the scene, so she rewrote it to work correctly with the story, but it was my idea, so I like that. 😛
Well, in answer to your question, I would probably disbelief a jackalope if necessary to preserve the peace and prosperity of the Kingdom of Pen. However, the creature does not look dangerous, so I doubt it would be necessary.
I couldn’t make a taxidermical (whatever the term is) jackalope disappear, though, since those are “real” as in they are physical and tangible objects. It would only be live ones that would disappear if I didn’t believe in them, since those are imaginary. 😉

July 28, 2018 at 11:40 pm #75732Oh. My other question had to do with the “When she did” line which you apparently have no idea how to rephrase too. 😛
For my MC’s age… I don’t think I am going to change it. But I think I would insert a line somewhere saying that the actual marriage is not going to take place until years later (sigh, catering to the delicate sensibilities of a modern audience is hard work).
Yes, my MC is talking about being in love and all that because that’s just the way she is. 😛 I don’t think I have been portraying that as a positive thing though.
I myself have my own project that I’m putting on hold (not sure if you remember but it’s the Rules of Fate which you have also read the first chapters of). I have a solid idea for a plot for that already but there’s still chinks I need to work out. My aim is to complete QOD first before moving on to that.
July 28, 2018 at 11:47 pm #75733@valtmy Haha, apparently I’m having the same trouble with Daughter of Judas. 😛 Trying to keep the customs and culture of the times, while making it not confusing and freaky to a modern audience is certainly difficult.
Well, of course. 😛 And no, you haven’t been portraying it as a positive thing, but you have been portraying it as sort of the way of life, so that’s the trouble. Her brother is acting like she’s already married, and the adults are all treating her like she’s nearly married. And while I understand that’s what betrothal is, most western audiences will not realize that, because betrothal doesn’t feature in our culture.
Oh, oh! I remember that. So that is why Queen of Drama sounded so familiar to me when I first read it. I remembered reading a similarly placed (time period and culture) story before, but didn’t want to mention it because I didn’t want you to think I thought your story was like someone else’s. Guess it doesn’t matter if the other story is yours too. 😛 I’m definitely still interested in reading that one, whenever you decide to continue it.

July 28, 2018 at 11:58 pm #75734@rochellaine (Sorry it took so long to respond. I’m a little distracted.)
Fair enough…
Do you think I should write another KPA? A shorter one? XD
You can pronounce it however you want.
July 29, 2018 at 12:08 am #75735@dekreel Don’t worry about it. Response time isn’t important. 😉
Another KPA would be so much fun!!

July 29, 2018 at 12:12 am #75736@rochellaine Hopefully inspiration will kick in soon…
Can you remind me one more time about all the positions on the Kingdom now? I know SeekJustice is the queen… Or something.
You can pronounce it however you want.
July 29, 2018 at 12:21 am #75737Haha does that mean I have a distinctive writing style? Or that my stories are too similar in inspiration and tone?
I think QOD and ROF will end being similar in tone but the stories will be very different. QOD features a female MC who loves romance and whose story is more of one of drama and personal growth. ROF will feature a male MC who detests romance and has a story that is more action-packed and involves adventures in different regions of the empire. 😛
July 29, 2018 at 12:26 am #75738@dekreel Since people were getting confused as to whether we were serious about being angry that people left us for Story Embers I have tried to stay away from discussions of the positions in the Kingdom of Pen or SE. We were only joking, but apparently it went a bit too far, and I don’t want people to misunderstand. That’s why I changed my signature back to “Sylvester” instead of the cute “always a Kapeefer” ones that everyone has now.
However, yes, @seekJustice is the official Queen. 😀 Because of her Australian accent, and because she has a sabre from Babylon and an army of origami cranes. (Though what cranes can do as an army, I’m not sure… 😛 )
I believe I have been named the prime minister officially, but I much prefer my lower office as Sheriff. I have been called upon to work in both capacities, but neither are mentioned often anymore. We mostly only talk about SeekJustice as queen.
Ariel Ashira is supposed to be the deputy, which was also your idea, and Alia is the chief of the border patrol.
The full list of official capacities should be in this document: CLASSIFIED 😛
…does that help?

July 29, 2018 at 12:40 am #75739@valtmy Well, I think it could be both. I did notice a distinct similarity, but since I didn’t realize you were the author of the other, I wasn’t sure why. 😛 It’s also partially because I haven’t read many stories set in East Asia, so I related the stories in that aspect as well. 😉

July 30, 2018 at 5:16 pm #75742@seekjustice I’m not around yet, but I will be in a little bit.
How are you feeling? Any better?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 30, 2018 at 5:21 pm #75743Cool 🙂
I feel better, not 100% but better.

July 30, 2018 at 5:48 pm #75744@seekjustice Hello! I’m here for a little bit before people start arriving for my dad’s seminar. I have to sing while they’re coming in. 😉
Then I’ll be here for an hour or so during the seminar.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! What are you working on this morning?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
July 30, 2018 at 5:58 pm #75745I’ll be here before work.
Rochellaine, thanks for your comments in my doc. I’ve replied so you can go take a look. I’ve decided to remove that part with my MC’s brother. The whole issue with that is that my MC and her brother are really, really not supposed to be looked up to by the readers anyway so I thought that that was fine. But since I’m already giving my MC so many unlikeable traits I decided she could do without that. 😛
