@seekjustice I like to think my acting is pretty good, but then, how would I know? I haven’t been in a real play since I was four years old! I act in front of the mirror all the time, while singing. 😀
Sword dancing is really cool! I think I like Russian dancing best, of all the types of folk dancing, but Scottish might be after that.
Have you ever done any English or American country dances? Those are done quite often at parties here in the US.

March 14, 2018 at 12:15 am #66684@catwing Gute Nacht.
Why did I just say that in German?
I have no idea. 😀 😀

March 14, 2018 at 12:17 am #66685@catwing Actually, you know what? It’s past midnight now, so it’s technically morning.
Guten Morgan!
*sings* Good morning, good morning! We’ve talked the whole night through/Good morning, good morning to you!

March 14, 2018 at 12:35 am #66686@rochellaine I sometimes talk in German for no particular reason :D.
I don’t think I’ve ever been in a play…nope, I’ve never been in a play. In a lot of ballets though, as a Scottish dancer (don’t question it), The Nutcracker, Arabian Nights, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Coppelia…
It does look very cool, but it’s really hard, probably one of the hardest dances I’ve ever learnt.
No, I haven’t. I’ve done a lot of Irish and Scottish country dances, and they’re really fun. Actually, our church had like a barn dancing sort of night years and years ago, and that was fun. We did all the old dances, and I don’t remember it very well.

March 14, 2018 at 12:56 am #66687@seekjustice I don’t really use other languages much, but I do randomly insert lines of songs into conversations all the time.
The only ballet I’ve been in was The Nutcracker, which we used to do every Christmas season as a family. We’d convert a room into a stage with curtains along the walls and seats along one side (just enough for five to ten relatives) and my brother bought a whole set of colored stage lights and spotlights along with a snow machine and a fog machine. It was really fun, but we weren’t much good as actors and dancers. 🙂
When I was really little my mom was in charge of the Christmas plays at the church we used to go to, and she would put on big song and dance productions, so that’s what I meant by “since I was four years old.” 🙂 She wrote some really fun plays for those years, but it was a long time ago. In recent years I’ve only sung in churches and around the house/randomly in public. 🙂
The Virginia Reel is really fun and easy to teach a group very quickly if they know nothing about dancing. How about square dancing? Have you ever seen that? It’s really cool, but I’ve never done it. I went to a 1940s themed dance with my dad where everyone was dressed in retro style clothing and swing dancing. I danced for probably five hours and my feet didn’t even hurt much afterward! That was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.

March 14, 2018 at 1:00 am #66688Well, if we’re counting church plays, I have actually been in one, which a member of our church wrote a whole lot of us put on for the community. I was Elsa the Doll (as in Elsa from Frozen), but I only actually had a speaking role because my friend (who would make a really good Elsa as she’s tall, thin and blonde) backed out, so I ended up being the first not stick thin, brown-haired Elsa stuffed into a very pretty blue dress which was a slightly odd fit. It was a lot of fun though.
No, I haven’t done square dancing (though a lot of Irish country is done in a square), but a 40s dance sounds like so much fun!!

March 14, 2018 at 1:11 am #66689@seekjustice Hahaha! 😀
Yes, it was definitely a lot of fun. I hope to do it again sometime. 🙂 I actually sing much more often than I dance, though.
Do you ever sing Scottish songs? Or songs with other accents? I love singing both Scottish and Irish songs, though that includes Irish-American songs which are technically not Irish, but still beautiful in the Irish accent.

March 14, 2018 at 1:15 am #66690I don’t have a future career in either, but I love doing both!
Not really. Sometimes I do, I like Scottish/Irish music, but they don’t usually have lyrics, or at least, the lyrics are hard to understand and more part of the music, like in Riverdance. But sometimes my dad likes to get out all the Scottish songs and he is really funny when he tries to sing them with a Scottish brogue (he was born in Australia, so he has no accent at all).

March 14, 2018 at 1:22 am #66691@seekjustice Yeah, me neither really. I’d like to sing on stage a few times, but mostly I’m planning to be a mother. 🙂
No accent at all…except an Australian one, of course! 😀
I like Scottish songs such as Land o’ the Leal, Jock o’ Hazeldean, Carls o’ Dysart, and Loch Lomond.
Irish American songs: Danny Boy, (That one’s AMAZING,) Too-Ra-Loo-Ra-Loo-Ral, A Little Bit of Heaven, When Irish Eyes are Smilin’, and The Minstrel Boy (I think the last one might actually be true Irish, but I’m not sure.)
Have you heard of any of those?
"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
March 14, 2018 at 1:28 am #66692Well, yes, but I can’t tell that. As far as I’m concerned there is no such thing as an Australian accent. It’s called talking normally 😛
What about the Mull of Kintyre (I think that’s correctly spelt).
I’ve heard Danny Boy, I think, but I’m not sure about the others. Have you ever heard of Daniel O’Donnell?? He’s an Irish singer that my pop (not the Scottish one, actually) likes so I’ve heard a bit of his.

March 14, 2018 at 1:34 am #66693@rochellaine I have to leave you now, and you should probably get to bed! I’ll talk tomorrow if you’re around!

March 14, 2018 at 1:43 am #66694@seekjustice Right. Whatever your own accent is, it’s not an accent. I love the song “Why Can’t the English” from My Fair Lady for that reason. The singer complains that no one speaks English correctly, and that “In America, they haven’t spoken it for years!” 😀
I have one CD of Scottish music which I like a lot, but mostly I just have the sheet music for those songs and play them on the piano, so I don’t really know any Scottish artists. *looks up Daniel O’Donnell* Um, no, actually. I don’t like him very much. He’s got too much of a modern style. Sorry. 🙁
Goodbye, and goodnight! Talk to you tomorrow, though hopefully we’ll actually get a little more work done next time!
Oh, oh! I just remembered The Rattlin’ Bog! I love that Irish song. It’s so much fun! It’s one of those “add-on the verses” songs. (If you don’t know what I mean, just look it up.)
Truly, goodnight now! Yes, I’d better get to sleep…
