@joelle-stone Your excerpt is so mysterious! I want to know what happens next!
@gracie-j Thank you! I remember this part from Held Captive—I feel like Rina’s growing up on the ocean developed her into someone who expects inconsistency, and I love how being on the land exposes her to the truth that God is steadfast.
@lydia-s I love how you develop the emotions of the characters in this scene!April 14, 2021 at 2:33 pm #97763Anonymous- Rank: Eccentric Mentor

@devastate-lasting @lewilliams @writerlexi1216 @daisy-torres @issawriter7 @nova21 Aw, thank you, guys! I’m so glad y’all liked it!!!
By the way, whoever asked about Era of Shadows…it was FANTASTIC!!! You should definitely go and read it RIGHT NOW!
April 14, 2021 at 2:41 pm #97764@lewilliams Thank you so much!! It’s set in a dystopian future with gangs representing the power struggles instead of kingdoms, so I’m pretty much completely reimagining it XD. It’s a super short story, but I keep getting told that everyone wants it to keep going. Maybe I should do that…
And your writing from your WIP sounds so interesting and scary! I need to know what happens next!
@nova21 Thank you! 😀April 14, 2021 at 5:31 pm #97770@gracie-j Awww, thank you that makes me so happy!!!

April 14, 2021 at 6:31 pm #97778Also, I’d appreciate the help with my blurb that y’all volunteered, @lydia-s, @nova21, and @jodi-maile! How do we get started? 🙂

@jodi-maile You’re welcome, and thank you!!
@daisy-torres I mean it!! You’re welcome!April 15, 2021 at 2:11 pm #97859@joelle-stone I’m pretty new to the forums, so I’m not sure, but you could just put it here I guess? Or in the critique forum. And then we can just read it and give you our thoughts! 🙂
April 15, 2021 at 5:37 pm #97864Aww, thank you so much, Elizabeth! I’m Lydia. It’s nice to meet you! 🙂
I’d love to talk about it! (It’s one of those things I could go on forever about🙂) What would you like to know?
Woah, your excerpt is really good! What kind of setting is your world in? It’s super interesting. 😀
April 15, 2021 at 6:02 pm #97868Thank you so much, Lexi! (I have to agree; dragons are awesome! XD)
Oh boy… I don’t even know where to begin! The main theme of it is falling. It sounds odd, but by the end, that’s pretty much what has happened. The main character (who doesn’t appear in the excerpt… *facepalm*), Duxus Aledrick, falls due to his pride, a character falls (in the sense that they died), and two of his fellow villagers fall (in the sense that they sell out to the enemy). I’m not sure if that answers your question. If not, I don’t mind divulging more info! 😉
Also, your profile picture is beautiful!
Wow, thank you so much! I’m honored that you enjoyed it!!!
As for what’s happening, it’s a long story! What you read is from near the end of my WIP; the book ends (or rather, ended; I’m rewriting it, again, so I’m not sure what page will be that last this time) about fifty pages later. It’s part of the villain’s plot unraveling, and it’s the deliverance of the tribe. Ember is reversing a sickness that has seized over half of the villagers (the Noctisians), rendering the village pretty well defenseless. However, it isn’t a normal sickness with natural causes. Something breathed into the faces of certain sleeping villagers, plunging them into the illness. Ember is also breathing into their faces, but her breath brings healing. Unfortunately, my MC doesn’t appear in the excerpt… *facepalm*
Thank you so much! 🙂
April 15, 2021 at 6:06 pm #97869Thank you so much! 😀
Yes, it is! That is an excerpt from one of my favorite scenes in Shadows (or Falling, as it might soon be called). 😀

(I figured, since we’re working on this together, I’d tag you all. If you’d rather I just tag one of you, don’t hesitate to let me know😉)
Perhaps we should start with the type of blurb you want to do? I know some authors summarize the beginning of the story and the main conflict, others will just use a quote from the book (Jonathan Rogers did this with The Bark of the Bog Owl), and others will start off the blurb with the first line of the book (Jennifer Erin Valent with Fireflies in December did a superb job with this. It stops you in your tracks…but I won’t spoil it😉). So I guess my first question would be, “Which one do you like best?”
April 16, 2021 at 10:38 am #97907so, i’m not quit sure how to begin, but i’m writing a novel right now about a girl named Cora. {excuse my unprofessional description. XD } she is dealing guilt, regret, fear, and heartache.
it starts with her taking a plane to Maine where she’s going to an Academy for Magnificent Minds. she meats a boy named David on the plan who is going there as well. he’s a little nutty but we’ll skip that. heheh. anyhow, is that how i was supposed to write that? i’m sorry, i’m so inexperience. :\

Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
