That’s awesome!!
What is your WIP about? How long have you been working on it?
Well, I’m in the idea stage right now, still coming up with cool stuff for two different book ideas: fantasy, and thriller/post-apocalyptical. 😊 The basic premises are a little challenging to come up with now, but I can try:
#1–fantasy: The cultures in this are based off of the ancient Viking, Roman, Egyptian, and Celtic cultures. I’m thinking this will probably be similar to LOTR, The Wheel of Time, and The Inheritance Cycle. I’ll give you an update when I come up with more stuff 🙂
#2–thriller/suspense/post-apocalyptical: A disease ravishes Earth, one that makes the population react in three different ways: death, insanity, or immunity to sicknesses of all kinds. Scientists don’t know the cause, but because of the higher rates of insanity, the people of Earth have to go into hiding. Cassie Knight is in one of the safe-places, but her family was among those accidentally left behind. She is determined to save them.
Oof, that was hard. I’ll see where I end up with them. 😁

-gladiator, 2000November 25, 2020 at 12:19 pm #87449Oh yeah! I have a space to ramble about my WIP! So I got back into editing Calligraphy Guild (my favorite project in the history of ever)… by procrastinating, of all things… XD But anyway, I worked on the end of a draft to procrastinate on worldbuilding, lol, and then I kept seeing things that just made me think “I NEED TO FINISH CALLIGRAPHY GUILD,” so now I’m wholeheartedly back into it and last night my editing was focused on two characters the plot revolves around and THIS ONE SCENE. WENT SO WELL. Things just fell perfectly into place, the parallels with the overarching plot were super cool, the characters were perfect… It was so exciting. ^-^ So anyway, that’s going well and I’m determined to stay focused on editing for the next couple of months and make more significant progress. ^-^
I want to write a fantasy when I get the time (probably after I graduate) about my favorite character I have. He’s the second son of a king and is weak and skinny and training to be a priest, very smart for his age, and very much an ambitious perfectionist… and I fully intend to put him through a ton of crud. (Mua-ha-haaaaaaa!) (not literal crud, but sorrow and suffering)
This sounds super cool! 😀

November 25, 2020 at 12:25 pm #87451I spent the whole night dreaming and woke up with something that I started immediately. Something that I’m most likely going to pants and probably stems from my inner desire to skip school and go find something beautiful in the world. It’s about a class of students that decide to skip school one summer day to go see the ocean. And strangely, a part of me wants to see if I could traditionally publish this one. I’ll have to wait and see, though.
Ah, in addition to this, there were two others that I started…
One of which was a thing about time travel. One of my writer friends posted a sad time travel plot that she didn’t want to write but wanted someone else to write. And so I volunteered and stayed sleepless for three nights because her idea was so complex. But I’m a sucker for time-travel stuff of Christopher Nolan level confusing, and so I decided to try my hand at it.
And another one is something that I wanted to write a month ago but never had the time for it, so now I’m waiting for the motivation to come back. It’s going to be about a boy who wakes up with no memory, and how he climbs a mountain and takes pictures, and with each new location he travels to, he unlocks a little bit more of his memory.
Ah…….four WIPS… *distant sobbing* I always get random motivations to write something now…and then I just leave it open on my computer…

@annika-c Hiya! Welcome to KP!! I do hope you’ll post an introduction too, so that we can get to know you better! 🙂
Anyway…your WIP sounds awesome, and congrats on making it to 65k words!!! How long have you been writing?
@nova12 As a history-lover, I love the sound of your fantasy WIP! A mix of all those ancient cultures would be so much fun!
@r-m-archer Yay! I am SO excited for Calligraphy Guild, and I’m so glad to hear that it’s going well!@anyone-who’s-interested As for my WIP…I’ve made it past the 100k mark, so I am very, very, very excited about that! Hopefully, I can scoot closer to almost or completely finished by March of next year–which will put me at a year of writing Bound and Determined. I know I’m over the halfway mark, so I’m shooting for about 160k words as the finished product. We’ll see!

November 25, 2020 at 3:16 pm #87483First off, Y’all’s stories sound SO cool!
Welcome to KP Annika-c! I am a newbie as well!
@devestate-lasting:
Deciding what story to work on is so tricky! I had two false-starts before settling on my current WIP. What I do, is pick a project that really speaks to me and fits within my current skill level. I know I’m not all that ready for my fantasy I want to do, but I write any passing ideas for your other stories down and keep them waiting for next time and will do occasional sketches of my favorite character (the sick and skinny kid, named Andrew) for fun and to develop him a bit.

@r-m-archer You’re welcome–and thank you! 🙂

Think y’all can help me out? I’m struggling some. So I wrote my prologue and my mom and I edited it thru and it is SO MUCH BETTER!! I really like it, but now I’m stuck with the first chapter.
I think now I’ve realized I’m starting with my protagonist in the wrong spot….but I’m still just struggling.
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Im trying to think of where to start instead but my mind is blank. I want to write, but also feel like I’m blocked, which is pretty sad.</p>
So, some things just to see if y’all can help me out.My protagonist has a destiny she chooses to follow (to save her family and follow God’s will) but she doesn’t really want to. She lacks confidence and has anxiety, and it’s worsened by a bite from a magical snake or something when she was younger. Now, when she doubts intensely, not only is she affected mentally but the magical wound she has hurts, and sometimes even seems to grow.
So her destiny begins when the Destiny Glass (a giant hourglass turns) and Ganesh, a guardian (type and shadow of angel) comes.
originally I was gonna start it with her waiting for the glass to turn and it doesn’t. She heads to library, etc, etc.
but now I think i need to start it closer to the inciting incident. But still struggling some with it lol.

November 28, 2020 at 10:43 am #87526@godlyfantasy12 I’m afraid I’m no use with actual plotting, since I usually pants everything. So the only advice I can give is just feel your way through it, an if it doesn’t seem right, you can always change it later.
Good luck!

If hours don't turn into daysNovember 28, 2020 at 12:13 pm #87530@scoutfinch80 Sure!
@devastate-lasting I understand. I think I’ve figured out where to start, now I just gotta finish writing it so I can go back and edit it. Editing is now probably one of my favorite parts so….ya.#IfMarcelDiesIRiot
