@imwritehere1920 Hi!!! Yes, I am one of the writers from Teen Writers’ Nook! Cool! I have a short story on Critique Corner. I feel ya – I’ve been busy lately too. πŸ™‚

Cool!!!! I will definitely check those magazines out! I hope everything goes well with getting those sources! I’ve got my fingers crossed for you too! Good luck!!πŸ€

Of course I don’t mind you asking! πŸ™‚ Sadly, I haven’t written a short story yet.😬 I read over Brio’s guidelines last weekend to see what kinds of things they were looking for. So now I’m in the plotting stage of my short story. I already know that my main character is going to be named Theia. Do you have any theme suggestions for my short story? If not, that’s alright. πŸ™‚

Thanks!Β  My fingers are crossed for your story too!Β  And Theia is a beautiful name.Β  How old will she be?

Hmm.Β  I can’t think of a theme.Β  But if it helps, digging into your MC’s past, going over your plotting notes, etc, you might find inspiration for one.Β  Consider your MC’s flaws/goals and the story’s overall conflict.Β  Oftentimes, I can find a theme or two during the plotting stage.

I hope it goes well for your story.Β  I’d love to know how it all went with submitting your story (when it’s ready.)Β  πŸ™‚Β  (btw, my name is Lily).Β  Thanks for the friend request!

I decided to tag a few people to see if anyone has any ideas.

I’ve been thinking about writing a 365-day devotional and trying to get it published. I’ve always loved writing devotionals and have been doing it for years, although my first ones were far from good. πŸ˜‚ Anyway, I’m trying to come up with a theme for the devotional if I do decide to write it. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.

Also, does anyone by chance know of Christian publishing houses that accept devotionals? (Preferably unsolicited.)

Ooooh, that’s a SUPER AWESOME idea!!!!!!! Maybe you could write a devotion targeted for teens. There’s a lot out there for teen girls and a few for teen boys but I don’t personally know of some that would be for just teens in general.Β Also, I’m horrible at coming up with these ideas sooooo you can really ignore my pathetic attempt. I actually don’t off top my head. But I’ll do some research into it and see if I can find some!! I’ll let you know!

Awwww, this is a SPECTACULAR idea!!! You should TOTALLY do it!! Sadly, I’m terrible at coming up with suggestions off the top of my head, but if I get any good idea I’ll totally let you know! I agree with Issabelle, that a devotional for teens would be good! Also, just to add to my unhelpful-ness, I don’t know of any Christian publishing houses like that (my sister might though!). But I do support this idea! Good luck! πŸ™‚

That sounds awesome, thank you! I’ve even been batting around the idea of a devotional for teen writers. Only I don’t know if I’d be considered a trusted authority on that πŸ˜‚

                Thank you, Issa!!

Oooh, that sounds like an awesome idea!!!!!!! I attempted once to write a devotional. It was on the topic of God’s love. I made notes on it but I never completed it.πŸ˜‚ I’m sure you will do great on your devotional though!!!! Maybe you could do it on the topic of identity, God’s peace, or hope in the midst of dark valleys? Those are some ideas. Pray about it and see what God puts on your heart. I hope you will get an amazing idea!!!πŸ’—

Those are great ideas, thank you! I’ve been thinking about it, and the thing that keeps persisting in my mind is a devotional on the book of Romans. I love that book – it’s full of so many beautiful themes – and it would be a fun challenge! Maybe it’s persisting in my mind because it’s what God wants me to do, I don’t know. I’ll let you know how it all works out!

This sounds like an AMAZING idea! I love it!
I don’t know if the is any help or not, but here goes anyway;)

A great devotional for teens that I’ve liked is 365 Daily Devotionals By Teen Girls For Teen Girls,Β which is a great one to check even for inspiration (I’ve tried to write devotionals, but I’m not too great at them).
Themes? Hmm, I know that they base devotional books off of books and movies (my favorite of these being the Hobbit devotional), so maybe you base it off of TAS or The Anointed.
Or, so my favorite devotional book ever is Unbridled Faith, whose theme is based on horses and the authoress’s experience on the horse farm. Perhaps you could make the theme based off a certain animal or area of experience? You could do a strictly day or strictly night devotional or maybe a creative twist like a short devo for those who stay up very late (okay, maybe that isn’t creative, but I’m just speaking from experiance).

So anyway, those are just a couple ideas. Oh, I also remember seeing something about a publishing house called “Trilogy Christian Publishing” but I don’t know too much about it.

@joy-caroline Some devotion themes are merely about a specific part of a Christians life. Prayer, reading the word, hearing from God, etc. But I believe those that go the full year don’t have a super specific theme because each day can be something new, but the theme could just be the way u write or present it, or how you format it, etc. and ur viewpoint
