@devastate-lasting @gracie-j @kathleenramm @r-m-archer
Welp. Tomorrow is the start of November, meaning I really gotta get in gear starting tomorrow with my writing.
Wish me luck! And if anyone has ideas on how to stop procrastinating, or just some encouragement that’d be great lol.
I’m thinking if I can maybe world build one location using the template I have, each day, I’ll finish worldbuilding by the end of November (and that’s even if I miss a few days. Cuz I don’t think I have 30 locations…) And I’m also planning on finishing the first draft of my standalone!
which is a big undertaking! But it’ll be fun, hopefully XD!
Tonight our church is doing a little Halloween event, but after that (or before) maybe I can vacuum my room and get it ready.
😬😅

#ProtectSebOctober 31, 2020 at 5:26 pm #86849@godlyfantasy12 That sounds like a lot of fun! I wish you luck!
Hmm…after my tests next week I’ll probably spend November working on another idea I had, and hopefully be done with it by the end of December.
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysOctober 31, 2020 at 9:36 pm #86855Yea I wanna be done with the first draft of my standalone, the work building for the first book in my series and the summary for that same book before December is done.
That way, when the new year rolls around, I can start on draft 1 of my first series book (if I’m ready to), edit my standalone (after my mom reads it 😂) and maybe start outlining the second book in the series.

I always like to spend the New Year outlining projects I want to finish in the year.

So I’ve decided to start drafting early! Gonna try to start today! I’m excited but also unsure if that makes any sense lol.
I wanna break the mold on “all first draft are terrible”. I know it’s supposed to be encouraging, and it is, but the better the first draft and more time I take, the easier the editing.
that, and I plan on sending what I write to my bestie and mom to keep me motivated.
anyway, wish me luck everyone! And if you have any tips on starting, let me know plz!

#ProtectSebNovember 21, 2020 at 3:22 pm #87344@godlyfantasy12 Ooh, good luck! It is good to have expectations for ourselves, even if it is a first draft.
I recently started another project too! I guess we can draft together 🙂

If hours don't turn into daysNovember 21, 2020 at 3:59 pm #87347I am re-vising my first draft currently, and afterwards I am gonna be brave and ask y’all to read it and give me feedback if you feel like it.
Good luck on your first drafts! What are you working on?

@scout-finch180 Nice! It’s a seven book fantasy series. I’m drafting the first one.

#ProtectSebNovember 21, 2020 at 4:18 pm #87351That’s really cool! I want to write a fantasy when I get the time (probably after I graduate) about my favorite character I have. He’s the second son of a king and is weak and skinny and training to be a priest, very smart for his age, and very much an ambitious perfectionist… and I fully intend to put him through a ton of crud. (Mua-ha-haaaaaaa!) (not literal crud, but sorrow and suffering)

@godlyfantasy12 Yay! I actually do the same thing–take a painstaking amount of time perfecting my first draft. For the last five or so projects, I’ve never had to write a second one! (Ha ha…explains why Held Captive is so bad…) Ahem. It’s worked out pretty well so far, though I suspect the editing for my current WIP will be more extensive than it has in the past.
If you’d like some extra feedback, you can always ask us for help! Tons of us would love to be alpha or beta readers or editors later on, so just let us know! And keep us updated on how everything goes, of course!
My advice would be to keep an open mind. Let your characters–and Holy Spirit–guide you above all else, be it your outline, what you want, or what others say. Some of the best and most exciting things in your book–for you and the readers–will happen when you let your characters lead the way, because, trust me, they can and eventually they will. They have minds of their own. Seriously. If you’re prepared for them to take control, you’ll have less resistance and a smoother story in the end.
Of course, God’s way is the best way of all, and He has His hand in your writing more prominently than you could ever imagine. If you pray over your writing before, after, and during, and ask for (1) His will to be done in it and through it and (2) Him to write for you, then the two of you will write a story that will not only entertain but speak to people’s souls and spirits. God is the Author of Creation, after all, so you know He’s a great writer. 😉 Don’t be afraid to ask Him into your writing!
November 21, 2020 at 10:20 pm #87356@gracie-j thank you so much!! My main problem is usually word usage, stuff like that. My mom is gonna help me out by showing me what she means when she says that (she helps me a lot)

@godlyfantasy12 My pleasure! 🙂 I do pray everything goes smoothly for you! And it’s so great that your mom helps you out. My mom is not a reader and certainly not a writer, so I’m kind of on my own! 😉
November 24, 2020 at 10:41 pm #87442First time posting on here! I am completely new to this website and excited!
My WIP is lower YA fantasy about a girl named Yithmora with healing powers who loses part of her lifespan each time she uses them. Her main internal conflict is finding the balance between generosity and selfishness, over-giving and self care, while in the midst of a plague when so many people need her help. She is my MAIN main character, but I do have another MC named Rin who’s story takes place 800 years before Yithmora’s and has tons of connections to her storyline.
Currently 65k words and on its fourth draft!
consistency and passion are key
November 25, 2020 at 10:45 am #87444Welcome!! Your story sounds intriguing. 😃 Wow, 65k words! Since it’s on it’s fourth draft, do you think it’ll be finished soon?
what we do in life echoes in eternity
-gladiator, 2000November 25, 2020 at 11:14 am #87445Thank you! It is on track to be done by the end of December this year, and I made some pretty big changes to improve it. I’m guessing there will still be more edits to come, but hopefully smaller ones that are faster and easier than these developmental ones I’m wading through.
What is your WIP about? How long have you been working on it?
consistency and passion are key
