@gracie-j
Ah, villainy! *evil laughter* *lightning flashes in the background*
Yeah, writing in the perspective of your villain is challenging, because while he is the villain, he deserves sympathy. I do plan on writing some of the story in his POV, because he actually has quite an in-depth storyline that I want to share. I probably won’t have a consistent POV swap, but it’ll definitely go back and forth between him and Caira. He’s the emperor, so trying to Google royalty titles has been difficult… I wish I could share a lot of his story, but that would be major *spoilers*
January 23, 2021 at 2:28 am #89930Congratulations on finishing your novel!
January 23, 2021 at 2:31 am #89931What is it specifically that your having trouble finding on Google? Not trying to be nosy, but researching things is kinda one of my pastimes, so maybe I can help?
January 23, 2021 at 9:19 am #89939Well, mostly things like “Is there an official title for a king’s advisor?” or “Where does the king hold official meetings?” or even things like “How young can a king be to rule without a regent?” My villain is still young (sort of—he’s around 17ish), since he was forced to take the throne after his parents were killed. I didn’t know if a teenage king could rule by himself without the help of a regent. Or what would a king’s uncle be called? It’s mainly things like that, but when questions are so specific, it’s hard to find Google results. The royal family mainly consists of the young king, his sister, and his uncle, and I just wanted to be accurate with all of the titles/palace rooms/duties of a king.
Hopefully that wasn’t too complicated to understand
January 23, 2021 at 1:01 pm #89942Hey, that’s not complicated at all. I should have the answers by tonight. In fact researching these things sounds like a fun challenge.
January 23, 2021 at 1:49 pm #89949Really??? Thank you!! I appreciate the help!! 🙂

@daisy-torres (1) Your book sounds so interesting and (2) CONGRATULATIONS! Do you plan on publishing your series???
@r-m-archer Thanks! And that sounds so cool! What’s the short story about?
@writerlexi1216 Hehehe… Ooh, yeah, definitely write in his POV! Those are some specific questions…I know I’ve had my share of those, usually with the English peerage. In which case, were you writing about a duke, I could answer all of your questions! XD
@abigail-m Girl, I may be coming to you with some questions! I love research (sort of), but I’m horrible at it!January 23, 2021 at 2:31 pm #89957@gracie-j
NP! I love research:) Sometimes it takes awhile, but it’s still fun. I may actually get a mini essay together about searching on Google, since there are a few tricks to getting to the right resources.

@anyone-who-is-interested
So, I mentioned that I’d probably be done with my WIP in March, with a total of 160,000 words under my belt.
Well, I outlined the third and final part of the book today (short chapter outlines; y’all know I’m a pantser), and then I did the math, and now I’m very discouraged because it looks like Bound and Determined will be roughly 64 chapters and 224,000 words. I’m at 38 and 126k, respectively.
Anyone else working on extremely long projects? Aside from @devastate-lasting, I know you is shooting for, like, three million words, and none of us can compete with that!
January 23, 2021 at 2:38 pm #89959@gracie-j *blushing* It’s just a collection of 60-80k word novels…not that much if you break it up.
But ay congrats on your own work, Grace! I don’t think I could write that long for a singular project!
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know

@devastate-lasting Still. That’s thirteen 80k novels, so…
I personally doubt that I can either, but thank you!
January 23, 2021 at 3:03 pm #89965@gracie-j It’s a sci-fi/post-apocalyptic story about an… inventor? Engineer? Something along those lines. XD Who lives in a hangar in the middle of a wasteland and has just genetically engineered a dragon that will one day open a portal to an alternate dimension where the world can rebuild. Except… things happen, of course. XD

Wow, a genetically engineered dragon, portals, and alternate dimensions?! That sounds pretty exciting! Which draft are you on?
