@gracie-j
YESSSS! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! *doing a weird little joyful dance*
Well, I’m going to work on that idea I had for a story from Paul’s nephew’s perspective, since everyone’s opinions about it have been encouraging me to go for it. I’m gonna write a quick first draft and see where it takes me, as I don’t even know if it will reach the length of a novel. But I guess I should try whatever inspires me! I never know whether God’s pushing me to see if I’ve got something publishable in that idea as well. Or even if it’s not publishable, if I can bring some people (or even myself) closer to Him through it.
I’ve written 5,004 words in that story so far. I call it The Anointed right now, but I’m not sure if that title will change. I’m on chapter 2 and unfortunately I have to kick that chapter off with a torture scene. I’ve written so many of those I’m not sure how to make them unique. And to be honest, I’m kind of scared to write it from a kid’s perspective. What does a little kid think when they see a loved one tortured? So if anyone maybe has any ideas?
But anyways, I am so so so happy for you! I hope everyone else is doing equally well with their writing!

Ooo, yay, CONGRATS!!! I LOVE scenes like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well, since I started about four days ago, I’m at around 2000-2500 words I think. I’m trucking along, but I’m not super excited about the first part. It always seems to me that you have to get over the intro chapters before you really start to have fun. 😉 I’m almost to that point though, so I’m excited for that!!

Yay!! That’s awesome that you got 1,975 words in (that’s way more than me); way to go! 🙂
The last time I checked, my WIP was around 40-44,000 words; but since I’m reworking the whole thing (character arcs, plot twists, themes, etc.) for a writing class, I’ve written around 4,630ish words this month (approx. 3 chapters.) I’m supposed to finish three chapters anyway, get them edited, and turned into my teacher by February; so I’m ahead of schedule.
What’s your WIP about?
Wow, that’s a lot! And I love the titles 27 White Blossoms and Those Who Were Given Yesterday (how do you come up with titles for your work? My titles are often terrible XD)
I’ve never heard of Webnovel or Tapas; are they a publishing platform like Ingram Spark, or KDP?
And I wish you the best with your story, Umbrella. I hope it gets chosen! *crossing fingers too* 🙂
Cool, I didn’t know Wikipedia had that! Definitely checking that out! I sometimes use a site called Nameberry; it’s technically a baby name site, but they have all sorts of different lists, like ‘Most Popular Girls’ Names’, ‘Nature’, etc. You can find more lists by typing in a word (i.e I did dystopian) and they’ll come up with different options.

#ProtectSebJanuary 21, 2021 at 7:53 pm #89721@abigail-m Ooh, thanks for the tip! I’ll have to check it out!
@gracie-j Yeah, I’ll definitely keep you updated on that! I’m very excited to see how everything turns out.
Also, if anyone has any advice on formatting short stories for publications, I could use some…haha…
@imwritehere1920 Ah for titles, I usually either do a single word or a twelve word long poetic sentence of sorts; these two fall in the middle. The white blossoms represent something within the book, and 27 is the amount of student…but now after asking my dad while doing research I may have to change that to fifty…which brings us to a question, is it better to be realistic and have way too many characters to take care of or better to have fewer characters, even if that makes it more unrealistic?Ah, Tapas and Webnovel aren’t exactly like publishing companies; they’re online platforms for people to read and write web fiction. Under some circumstances, you can strike a deal with them which means you’re technically published, I guess…? Not too sure. Anyway, Tapas is famous for it’s comics, some of which I’m sure you might’ve seen on Instagram, and Webnovel is Qidian International, a company under Tencent in China.
Thanks for your wishes!

@issawriter7 Thank you! You’re too sweet, girl!
Now I’mma pull out some emojis for you, ’cause it sounds like you could use some cheering up. Here’s a smile because you’re so sweet: 😁
Here’s a kiss because, I mean, everyone needs some sugar every now and then! 😘
You’re a superstar! 🤩 Hopefully you’re not afraid of clowns. 🤡 Even the kitty-cat loves you! 😻 And now a cat ninja is helping you write. 🐱💻 Here is your guardian angel (who probably doesn’t really look like that, but whatever). 👼 Live long and prosper. 🖖 I love you! 🤟 I’m praying for you and your writing! You can do it! 🙏 Here’s an Easter Island head because I thought it was cool and I didn’t realize such an emoji existed. 🗿 Everyone deserves a slice of pizza. 🍕 And don’t forget–even 172 words has a LOT of heart! ❤
BTW, I’ve taken so many breaks myself that my writing session last night was catching me up for, like, a month of missed days!

@joy-caroline I love that title! And definitely keep working at it and keeping praying over it–you never know how God will use your stories!
I’m not so sure about the torture scene from a child’s perspective. Maybe I should talk with some of my younger siblings and get back to you, eh?
@nova21 Oh, the first few chapters are always so rough! I know I’ve had some extremely tough times with mine! That’s some great progress, though!
@imwritehere1920 Thank you! That’s awesome about your WIP–what’s it about?Mine is Book 3 in the Daughters of the Seven Seas series, which is about female pirates, believe it or not!
@godlyfantasy12 Great!
@devastate-lasting Me too! Hmm…it depends on the exact type of publication. What in particular would you like to know about formatting?
@issawriter7 I just realize my super cool cat ninja did not pull up how it was supposed to. Oh well. 🙁January 21, 2021 at 9:14 pm #89736@gracie-j

Oh, that’s perfectly okay about the super cool ninja cat!! It was still the most sweetest thing I’ve read all day! Plus, I forgot to mention, that I didn’t know there was an Easter Island head emoji, either and that’s just THE COOLEST that there is one!!!!!!!!!!!

@issawriter7 Gee…maybe there is something to being nice after all. XD I’m so glad I could be an encouragement!!!!!! Thank you!
Isn’t it cool, though? It’s strange that one pulled up and not the ninja cat.
@devastate-lasting Sounds fine to me. Here, this is what one of my short stories looks like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/11MGRNpfKo_RQJtyJ_AohD0f4VhHJ8gQjp3JhZvn5UMA/edit?usp=sharing(Just copy and paste the link…these things still hate me.)
Let me know if that works!

WHOA, you go, girl! That’s incredible! My current word count is approximately 17,000 words, but I’ve been writing pretty quickly, so it’s moving along. I’m actually introducing my villain now! *evil laughter* *strokes mustache evilly* (I’m also having to research a TON about royalty and various royal titles because my antagonist is the emperor, so that’s been a bit hard)
Any advice on writing villain introductory scenes? I’m gonna try to write more tomorrow, so maybe I can swing in and see how everyone’s doing! 🙂
