Cool! I’m maybe going to hint that they think they’ve seen each other before, but can’t place it. And at least one of their biological parents is going to show up, so that should be more material for some hints. Thanks for the tips!
January 18, 2021 at 10:03 pm #89442@joy-caroline Ah okay! Maybe you can make like the mom have a scene where she’s thinking about her kids or something and sees the brother and thinks that he’d be the same age as her own son…or something…maybe he looks like her husband…something like that…

Ooh, this is giving me so many ideas! Maybe I could have a scene where the mother and biological son have a conversation, and she’s like, “You remind me of someone,” and he’s like, “Who?” And she could say something like, “Someone special.” I don’t know the details yet, but yay it’s fun to brainstorm!
January 18, 2021 at 10:09 pm #89444@joy-caroline Ahh yeah brainstorming is super fun! Good luck!

Maybe both characters feel a sort of familial attraction and form their own sibling bond as the story progresses.
Out of curiosity, who is older, the boy or girl?ย And how old were they when they were abandoned?

Good point! I’m actually planning on them developing a really close friendship. The boy lives with his adoptive parents (a mother and uncle) so he’ll start to realize he feels the same for the girl as his uncle feels for his mother.
The boy is older. He was three years old when abandoned, but the girl was actually not abandoned and still lives with their biological parents.

So, first of all, how is everyone doing? What’s your word count for your WIP like as of now? Has anything changed? Any questions? Any goals reached?
Second, I JUST HAD THE BEST NIGHT OF MY LIFE LAST NIGHT!
Ahem. Let me tone down the enthusiasm. Y’all know I’ve set my goals for the end of March, so I only have to write about 500 words a day. However, I wrote 1,975 words last night (the most I’ve ever written in one time, at least that I’ve kept track of). That may not seem like to a lot to y’all, but that was awesome for me!
In addition, all 1,975 words made up one of my most powerful, Holy Spirit-filled scenes yet! I’m just bubbling over with joy that not only did I write that much, but God took over for me again!
Anyway, enough about me. I want to hear about y’all!
January 21, 2021 at 1:56 pm #89653@gracie-j WOOHOOO!!! Go girl! As for me, Iโm just a few words away from my 1st 10,000!!! Yaaaaaay

As for me, a couple of days ago, I discovered Tapas (I mean, I have heard of it before, back when it was only comics, but now there’s novels) and I’ve decided to switch from Webnovel to there. It’s so much nicer, there’s bolds and italics, an option to add background music, and what’s best, when you sign on to a contract with them, you get to keep your rights to your work. So I’ve started working on one of my works (Those Who Were Given Another Yesterday) again, in hopes of finishing season one and an ost before summertime so that I can serialize it.
Other than that, this week I have been slacking off on my handwritten work, but I guess I’ll just declare it a break and try to catch up on the weekend and next week.
I’m going to try and finish polishing and formatting Umbrella for publication and hopefully send it in to a magazine this weekend! Fingers crossed!
I’ve also got inspiration for another short story, but as of now I only have a blank doc in front of me. Still working on character names, but I should try to start it before inspiration passes.
I want to try getting to plotting for my next handwritten arc so that I don’t have to rush things when the time comes, and I also want to start plotting and developing characters for a 70-80k length novel tentatively calledย 27 White Blossoms. It’s tentative, because the number will change with the amount of characters I have. Hopefully I can get this one to publishing quality at some point.
And… *glances at a Gothic short story that’s half-written* Yep, that’s all for me right now. At least, everything that happened in the past week or so. What about the rest of ya’ll?

If hours don't turn into daysJanuary 21, 2021 at 2:16 pm #89655Thatโs awesome @gracie-j ! Congratulations:) The only time I was able to do that was during NaNoWriMo. Sigh, I gotta get back to doing that.
January 21, 2021 at 2:31 pm #89656If your have any difficulties on names (which is something I agonize over with my characters), the Wikipedia has a great page called:
Writing Adolescent Fiction/Character Names
They have the option to choose different origins, nativities and time eras for boys or girls names. Like say you wanted a Greek name for a boy, all you have to do is push the bar entitled, โEuropeโ, scroll to the Gs, push โGreekโ, boys names and there you have it. Adonis, would work great.
And it looks like you have a bunch of great stories started:)
Way to go on your first 10k! ๐

@godlyfantasy12 Yay! That’s so awesome!! Only 70k more to go, right?
@devastate-lasting Girl, you have got a ton on your plate! Tapas sounds way better than Webnovel, so you gon’ have to keep me posted on how that goes! Ooh…let me know if the mag accepts Umbrella! I thought it was fantastic! ๐Keep up theย
insane amount ofgood work!
@abigail-m Thanks, girl! Yeah, I passed on NaNoWriMo because I couldn’t write that much in a month, let along thousands of words a day. Whew. Take it one word at a time!January 21, 2021 at 2:59 pm #89661@gracie-j
Not very awesome for me. I was only supposed to take a couple of days off and I’ve ended up taking a week and a half. ๐ญ I wrote 172 words yesterday, it was the first time I’ve sat down to write since my break, sooooo it’s okay. Not what I’d like, but okay! Nothing much to report. But that’s TOTALLY SUPER AWESOME about getting all of those words in!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOOO!!!!!! You GO GIRL!!!!!!! I’m gonna pull out the emojis I only use on special occasions!!ย ๐๐๐๐๐๐ *throws our party streamers and passes you your favorite kind of snack* *waving pom poms and chanting a cheer*
