      @godlyfantasy12

      That app sounds amazing! I’m totally going to download it. It sounds like it would be so helpful for me. Thanks for letting us know!

      As for my WIP, let’s just say it’s a struggle. I have written 16,113 words in my second draft this month. My goal for word count is 2,000 words per day. That way I can get each draft done in two months and move through drafts quickly. I want to finish at least four drafts by the end of the year because I want to start querying agents when I’m a senior in high school. (I’m a sophomore now, by the way.)

      Lately though, it’s been kind of a fight to reach that 2k daily goal. Yesterday I wrote only 1k *cries* So I’m really glad you told us about that app!

      I’m feeling a bit better though, like this story actually has potential, because I have some awesome beta readers like @issawriter7 and they’ve been giving great tips on the first few chapters. So I feel like with a little fixing up, this novel might actually be readable! LOL.

        @joy-caroline I will tell u this, don’t rush it or put too much in yourself at one time! One awesome thing about this app is it gives u the count u need daily based on what u already have, so depending on how many words total u want to write, u may find out u don’t have to write 2,000 words a day! It this point the daily goal isn’t going over 1,000 (but that’s good cuz then I can go over it some and it makes me feel great cuz I know that, not only am I on track, but I’m past the mark!)

        Also, what I’ve done (and this is just how I’m doing it. U gotta make ur own way of doing things just like I’m learning to do.)

        I made a scene list or outline, every scene I knew or came up with. When I ran out of mojo I just put what needed to happen to reach the end so I could figure the in-between stuff out later.

        After that, I printed it all out. Cutting out each scene, I then folded it and placed it in a box!

        Then, whenever I finish a scene I randomly pick another one! It refreshes u, gets u out of the box, and it also makes u feel like ur actually finishing something, whereas going from beginning to end may be drawn out and you might lose steam.

        This can work for editing too I’m sure if u don’t want to edit from beginning to end!

          @godlyfantasy12 That’s an interesting way of doing things! I’m glad to hear you’re back on track with you WIP!

          I actually use a site called WriteTrack that works pretty much the same way! To “complete” my WIP (which is at 123k at the moment), I only need to write about 500 words a day (which is all I can handle!). I say “complete,” because I’ve set myself a goal of 160k by the end of March, but I honestly think the book will end up being a little bit longer by the time I finish it. I’ll probably edit it back down to 160k, but *shrugs* who knows! I’m terrified to cut anything, really!

          @joy-caroline 1k is fantastic! I only write about 1k in a day at least once a month (I get anywhere between 0 and 800 words a day on average), so 2k a day is a crazy goal! I know you can do it, but don’t pressure yourself!!! Write what you feel like writing when you feel like writing it, and your story will feel so much smoother and full of life!

            @gracie-j ooh coolio! And yea idk if my book will reach 80,000 words, or if it will go over. But that’s the goal I’ve got for rn, and if I follow this app I should get to it sometime in May! Yay!!

              @godlyfantasy12 It’s been going pretty good! I’ve been keeping up with my new schedule of 5 pgs per day, and I’ll be finishing this a lot quicker than I did before.

              I started my other small WIP, but haven’t got very far yet, but I did plot the whole thing! So I’m excited.

              I also finished a short story during CWW! Very happy even though I cried when I finished it. Currently working through some chunk edits.

              Someone ask me about my plots or writing schedule if you want.

                @devastate-lasting So, what’s your writing schedule like? How do you stick with it? What kind of method do you use when plotting? What’s your short story about? When do I get to read it?

                    @gracie-j well, it’ll be a bit. Maybe, if I work really hard I can have it ready for betas by the end of this year! That would be so incredible. And then I’d probably publish it sometime next year once everything is as good as I can get it.

                    Im figuring on plotting my second in the series when I take my break from the first draft. And then when and if I have to wait on readers or edits I may go on and start drafting some of the second one. At least start drafting it by next year hopefully.

                      Wow! Your method sounds so fascinating! I’ve often wondered about doing things out of order, LOL, because sometimes I get tired of moving so slowly through the section I’m writing. And some days, I feel like doing quiet inner turmoil scenes, while on others I feel like writing lots of action. Then I grumble when I have to write quiet instead of action, or action instead of quiet. 😂

                      I’ll have to try your method!

                        @gracie-j

                        Thanks! It is SUPER hard for me to do those 2k words every day! I’m glad you think 1k is okay. And thanks for the encouragement! I tend to beat myself up when I miss my daily word count goal.

                          @gracie-j As you probably know by now, I a) am working on a very long fantasy project right now, and b), writing it all by hand. As you also probably know, I have a specific size of notebook I like to use, so that I can keep my word count, with one installment per notebook…

                          Last year I was calculating how long it would take me to finish drafting the whole thing by my writing rate of 2 pgs (approx 500-600 words) per day, and I realised that would take me to the year 2031. I am an impatient person. I did not like that. So starting this year, I decided to write 5 pgs (1250-1500 words) per day, and have the rest finished by 2025. So far, so good.

                          My other projects I do on the computer and I do them when I have time. They seem to be of better quality because writing on the pc and on paper are two very different things. Ah, well.

                          For that novella idea I had I had first written it in a 5 page short story, then I worked the idea around in my head and expanded it, decided which key scenes I wanted, which lesser scenes I want, and lined them up by scrawling them in a different notebook. Writing things as short stories first really does help.

                          I’ll probably post the short story Friday or Saturday! I’ll tag you 😉

                            WHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s SOOO AWESOME to hear about your WIP!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!! Ooooh, thanks for telling us!! I’m TOTALLY gonna check that app out!!!!!!

                            Sooo, as for how WIP’s going, I started a new one about a week ago. I had joined this writing competition where teen writers were in two teams and the teams tried to write more words than the other one! So, I actually got a huge chunk already written. I took this week as a small break but am planning to get back to work in my WIP probably today or tomorrow. Depending when I’m ready to end my break. XD Things are moving pretty awesome in it! As for how Into the Lamp is going, don’t ask. XD

                                  Girl, this story TOTALLY has potential!!! I’m not just saying that!!! Trust me on this one!!! 1K words a day is still a serious accomplishment!!!!! You should be proud at the end of the day no matter what your word count looks like!!!!! I know I’m proud of you!!!!!!!! YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you’re starting to get burned-out maybe take a day or two off. That’s okay to give yourself breaks!!!!!! *passing you motivational chocolate* *chanting fades into the distance* You can do it, you can do it, you can do it.
