September 11, 2024 at 3:58 pm #185695I go to a French school and during COVID, they got really annoyed with us using LOL in the chat. So they taught us to say MDR instead: mort de rire, which means dead from laughing. So I’m used to saying that instead.
The whole duck imitation thing is hilarious!

September 11, 2024 at 4:05 pm #185696I love love love it when characters come together of their own accord! It just makes it so much easier to write about their relationship. I mean, it’s not completely necessary to the story, but it can offer a really great subplot to root for.

September 12, 2024 at 11:56 am #185720What’s it with all these readers being eldest siblings? I should go check again with my siblings to see what they think of Martha. (My brother will probably try to tell me his suffering as the youngest is much worse, but whatever. I could maybe show some of his frustrations in Eric, even if Eric is not the youngest.)

September 12, 2024 at 12:47 pm #185725I get the feeling that a lot of eldests are writers. In fact, I’ve only met one girl who was a writer and wasn’t an oldest sibling.

September 12, 2024 at 2:40 pm #185733@stephie oh my goodness that’s hilarious.
I like picking up random French phrases because I have a character who’s from that country, so……

September 13, 2024 at 12:47 pm #185759Well, there is the older of my two sisters, who was into writing long before me. So that makes two.

It was just a theory. Like Evaluation. Unproven.

September 13, 2024 at 3:53 pm #185774I’ve read that most lawyers are older siblings, which makes total sense to me.

The long-awaited Chapter the 18th is here. Give me a couple more weeks, and you will get to read Chapter the 19th!
By the way, does anyone have any advice on writing things happening during a conversation? I need more things than ‘character1 looked at/glanced at/stared at/turned to/anything else involving looking at character2′.

September 19, 2024 at 3:48 pm #186061@linus-smallprint ooh interesting! Alan is joining Stripe’s cause?
One question: What’s up with the names Cyrus, Anamynth, Iskyagus and Opitarus? Are these lyens? Kinda odd, because all the lyen names up to this point have been cat-related, and I can’t see any connections with these names.
also I have literally no idea how to go about a conversation in real life lol, what makes you think I’ll be able to do it in stories haha

September 19, 2024 at 3:50 pm #186063Hmm, I like it!
Let’s see. How about nothing to do with the characters. Mention what’s going on around them. Someone shouted something, pans clattered, wind picked up, a bird chirped, children giggled. Etc. That might help.
