guys… I have been looking back at old chats ‘n stuff… who is Anonymous…? Is he/she the same person, why can’t you tag him/her? Why has he/she made so many topics? Was it someone who was banned? Was anyone around when Anonymous was active?

Anonymous is multiple people. It’s the name put in place of any account that was deleted. The word anonymous just means something similar to “unknown”.

It happened to @freed_and_redeemed, she deleted her account when she decided she needed to take time away from KP but later came back on with a new account.

Hmmm…….. is that more out of jealousy or pride…? Maybe both…. So I guess you wouldn’t! More for selfish reasons….! (but that is me just making an assumption! I could be wrong)

I’d say just competitiveness. So more selfish reasons, but not necessarily wrong ones. Now I work out just to be stronger.

Oki doki! This one is different from the work out one… you’re not doing because you siblings are better or have a more stable habit than you. You’re doing it because you want to improve! But I guess not for your family??

Yeah, I’m just fed up with always feeling like a wreck.

Wow… That sounds kinda harsh… Uhm… I say you go for your dreams still! (They’re to be an author… right…? Or an artist or smth like that? Something with pen and paper?) But you can still do your dreams but have a stable job!

An author or a dancer. I know I’ll never be a dancer because I started too late but that and being an author are the only things I really want to do. I also sort of want to get into politics, which I could make a living doing, but then they’re concerned for my soul.

I think I tagged the right people

Do you remember the beginning scene of A Visitor in the Night from The Baron Chronicles where Simeon is reading something? So, I just spent 27 minutes changing that scene because the thing he reads is from an actual book that isn’t remotely mine and the content also doesn’t really apply to the story. I would like feedback on this change.

• Does it sound like an actual child figuring how to read?
• Do you like it?
• Is it too hard to follow?

Anyways, here is the scene:

“’A ch-ch-ile-deh is one of the mo…most! Preh-ki–”

“Not /k/. Look, there’s an /i/ after the /c/, so it’s…C’mon, you’re almost done,” A mother coaxed her young son as he sat in her lap, holding a book in his little hands.

“/S/ sound! Preh-ci-ous’ Precious, right?” Simeon’s bright blue eyes turned to his mother, Ruby.

She nodded. “Keep going.”

“’Th, thi, things in the wor, world?’” Simeon looked at his mother for confirmation.

Ruby nodded. “I’ll stop you if you read something wrong. Keep going unless I say so.”

Simeon turned back to his book. “’Thaaaat God,’” —Simeon pronounced the /d/ with a hard ‘deh’.—“’ha-has give-en us,’ Said the…laaaady; ‘And…like all preh-cious…th, thi…?’”

“You’ve already read this word earlier.”

“’Things! Th-they should pro—‘“

“You forgot something. I know it’s tiny, but it’s very important.”

Simeon let out a groan, before trying again: “’They sh-should be pro-tecteh-ded, pro-tected! They should be protected and …tree-sured.’ That doesn’t sound right.” Simeon pursed out his bottom lip, staring at the word as if it had betrayed him.

“What sounds to /ea/ make?”

“/Ee/…/eh/! It’s Treh-sured. Treasured!”

Ruby nodded. “Very good my little scholar!”

Simeon let out a sigh on contented completion as Ruby took his book.

Ruby flipped a few pages in the little book. “Guess what? Only one more chapter to go!”

“What?! Only one more! Wow, look at my boy! He flew through that book fast!”

Simeon left his seat, running to the man who had entered the room. “Daddy!”

Max bent down to Simeon, with the boy’s younger sister, Esther, nestled in the crook of his arm, asleep on his shoulder.

Ruby gently took Esther from Max, using a handkerchief to wipe the drool from the toddler’s mouth and her husband’s shirt. Ruby tenderly stroked her child’s curls, looking into the girl’s peaceful face. Esther’s pretty dark curls, inherited from her great grandmother, were growing in nicely though they were beginning to be a pain to comb in the back for they curled tightly and the girl had her mother’s sensitive head. “She needed to go to bed soon anyway. Simeon, you have a few minutes with your father, and then it’s off to bed with you as well.”

Simeon was about to complain, but a single look from his father, and he obediently replied, “Yes, Mommy.”

I vaguely remember that. This new scene is really cute; although it might be a little confusing for casual readers. As a person who knows a lot about phonemes and stuff cause of my very meticulous tutor, I get it, but I don’t know if all the letter sounds and stuff will confuse people.

Yes, I was a little worried about that. My Grandma taught me how to read, and she also was very meticulous. I tried to write the scene as the closest thing to what I remember from when I was learning how to read.

@rae yeah. Also, i taught myself how to read, so the exeperience of someone teaching you in unfamiliar to me.

 

(The tutoring was more for math and general thinking skills. He calls it “brain training.” But he has a lot of books in his office on the subject of how to properly teach reading, since many school curriculums don’t quite hit the mark, so he’d let me read them while he was working with my brother.)
