The playlist now exists… and I’m quite overwhelmed by all the music I listened to over the past few hours.

I’m resisting the urge to edit it even more

I have a bad habit of listening to one song on repeat for a while. I’m stuck on The Goose and the Commons because it’s so Remi-coded. But I swear I’ll listen to the rest of these songs in a bit, because this is great

Seriously. This thing has quite the theme. I like the thoughtful, contemplativeness of it, with some chaos complicating things.

“He might find Lois in the gymnasium.”

“He will not. Lois would have to be dragged there XD”

                        Ellis

Next to the fencing strips, there was a rack that held several rows of practice swords. Ellis took his time looking through them and testing to see what felt good in his left hand. He gave one sword a few practice swings.

“I thought I’d find you here.”

Ellis turned to find his brother beside him. Somehow, his quiet voice carried despite the noisy room. Lucian held up an envelope. “Father sent you a letter. The messenger gave it to me by mistake.”

He held it out. Ellis took it, and Lucian seemed to hesitate a moment too long before letting go. Ellis glanced over it quickly, taking in the writing and the unbroken seal, then slipped it into a pocket. He smiled.

“Let me introduce you to my friend. This is the Moth Prince. We were about to have a little friendly duel.”

Lucian gave a small bow to Moth. He had the same polite mannerisms as his brother, but without the same kind of warmth behind it. “Prince Lucian Kade Stormwatcher. Pleased to meet you.”

XD the only time Lois gets exercise in is when he is taking nice strolls in the garden, or when he is dragging his girlfriend away from yet another fistfight

                              Remington

Remington La Creux emerged from a back door. He gripped the beautiful stone arch that framed the door itself. The sun shone brightly ahead of him. It emerged from behind the gymnasium, sent shards of light across the tended landscape, and sparkled in the academy windows. Birds chirped, and people’s voices came from across the grounds.

The young king stood there for a moment, blinking, as the sunlight shocked his eyes.

He had slept in, of course. His stomach churned, as it always did in the mornings. He always felt rather sore and weak, his eyes circled in shadow when he looked at himself in the mirror. What else did he expect? He stayed up too late. At least he could cover up his tired face with pale powder, worn by all Surabond nobles.

                              Pull yourself together.

Remington let out a deep breath. He lugged a bag of mallets out of the door and hung the bag over his shoulder. He straightened both of his laced sleeves and broke into a smile.

Click, click. His heels snapped cheerfully against the brick path. He did a little tap-dance, and bowed to every young gentleman he passed on his way.

The paved walkway ran across Remington’s path, to both his right and left – but also took a third direction, to the gymnasium and gardens, situated behind the academy. Many, many students walked back and forth in that direction.

“You! Oh, and you! Hello!” Remington made the best of the shocking blue eyes his mother had given him, stopping people in their tracks. “Would you like to play croquet? I’ll be in the gardens, right next to the gym. It will be a tournament! I’ll fetch drinks! Whoever wins – well, the only reward is bragging rights, but it is croquet and I would play it in the middle of a musket battle if I had the choice. It’s quite a fabulous game, don’t you agree? Thrilling. Just thrilling.”

The students gave Remington polite nods and a wide berth. Like a school of fish swimming around an obstacle, they walked away without giving him much attention. A few of them gave him weird looks.

“The one time I played with you, you knocked that beehive out of a tree and stuck me in the infirmary,” one of the boys said in passing.

“You got me there! I did do that! Ha, ha!”

“Croquet isn’t a real sport,” another boy said.

“Yes, it is.” Remington huffed, dramatically scuffing the ground with his heel. He broke into an even wider smile, but it fell upon blind eyes.

These people had probably never been to a royal picnic in their lives. They did not know that croquet was played by the greatest of kings – accompanied and applauded by the most influential lords and ladies. Remington’s very own betrothed had made his acquaintance by attending a picnic of the same theme.

Regardless of how truly royal a game of croquet was, every boy made a beeline for the gymnasium. Well – if that was where everyone was going, Remington was going to approach every prince in the gym until he found players. He adjusted his bag strap and strolled in.

Hehehe. I saw Loopy’s aesthetic board for the Labyrinth RP and was inspired. It was quite handy to have the concept photos at the start of this RP to draw on.

That one picture taken through the window is exactly what I’ve been picturing. Now we have an aesthetic board for this, too. 😀 It’s lovely.
