Ahhhhh…I had a role play typed up and accidentally exed out….
Anyway.
Ari
The way back to the dormatory had been a twisting maze of shadows and shrubberies; just such a place to slink through in the darkness.
The last twenty feet to the wall? Not so much. Ari crouched behind an overgrown azalea bush, careful to shield his eyes from the lanterns. A servant walked by along a worn path. Thirty seconds later the next rounded the corner.
They should have just enough time. But only just. He eased off his boots being areful to avoid excess movement, then tied them to the back of his belt.
Twenty-five.
Twenty-six.
…
Thirty.
The next servant walked by.
Ari eased up on the balls of his feet. Moth rose beside him.
Time to run. His feet flew over ground. He crossed to the wall in a few long bounds. His hands landed on stone and gripped.
Up. The first urge of his life. Hands found holds better than eyes in the lantern light. Next his toes found a ledge.
Fifteen seconds.
He launched up the wall.

July 20, 2026 at 12:40 am #212707This is very much like Minecraft, I feel like. Everyone has to sleep to skip to morning.
yes that’s a good analogy lol
In that case, I vote we skip the night. I’m excited for the lessons to start. After everyone gets settled in for the night, of course. Not trying to rush things too much.

July 20, 2026 at 12:44 am #212708Wilhelm would be so happy to go to bed. XD He is a morning bird, not a night owl. XD
I am curious what Wolfgang will do though. XD But I am also really interested in the classes and in Wilhelm’s appointment on the field of combat. Lol.

July 20, 2026 at 2:30 am #212711Lucian
Back in his room, Lucian stood on his small balcony, watching the twilight fade. His mind was running through the previous few hours, subconsciously categorizing every royal he had met or heard of by temperament, military power, and claim to their throne. He wondered what kind of lessons Ellis would want to take tomorrow. After leaving the other boys, the two brothers had walked back to their rooms in almost complete silence. There had been something off about Ellis, but any of Lucian’s attempts at questioning had been politely shut down. He really was impossible to understand sometimes.
Lucian still held his untouched drink in his hand and he swirled it around thoughtfully. Pink. Such a strange color. But it matched the boy king who had given it to him. He paused a moment before holding it out, and pouring the liquid out off his balcony and into the bushes below. He tossed the glass down too. Its landing was muffled by the leaves. There were servants sweeping the grounds outside, but none seemed to notice. Lucian stared down blankly for a minute. Then he turned and walked inside, closing the balcony door behind him.

July 20, 2026 at 7:39 am #212712I’m just keeping the RP alive. make it night if you want. Wolfgang will sulk for exactly 20 seconds and then happily go to bed. He is a night owl and morning bird. (a.k.a. doesn’t sleep much. XD)

July 20, 2026 at 2:07 pm #212713Up. The first urge of his life.
Ahh. That’s why he’s a climber.
Moth
Ari waited until the right moment and went for it.
Moth followed. He flitted across the path, lightly jumped up onto the wall, and climbed it on all fours with ease. Being non-human was almost like cheating, sometimes.
He let his body glow brighter, just so he could light the way, and measured his climbing pace so he stayed at Ari’s side. He watched Ari carefully as the human boy chose his holds on the wall.
Ari looked like he knew what he was doing, but anything could happen, and Moth wasn’t about to let this new friend fall.
“Quickly,” he urged in a whisper.
The clicking of heels began to approach, still hidden around the turn of the path. There wasn’t much time left.
…
July 20, 2026 at 2:11 pm #212714Okay, everyone going to bed sounds like a plan!
That’ll also help me, because I haven’t thought of many things for them to come across during the night. There are a couple things. But also if you guys have any ideas, we can play around with those too.

July 20, 2026 at 2:36 pm #212715On to bed!
Ari
Twenty-five. Twenty-six.
Over six feet stretched between him and the roofline. He wouldn’t make it to the in time.
But he didn’t really have to. He’d made it above the lanterns, putting their glare between himself and any eyes on the path below.
“Get over the top.” He hissed into the night, but didn’t look to see if Moth followed directions.
His clothing was somber gray and blue per usual. He’d have to trust his black hair to hide his face. Ari flattened himself against the wall and hoped his arms didn’t cramp.
Thirty. Thirty-one.
Footsteps rounded the corner. Ari closed his eyes. As if that would keep him from being noticed.
Click, click. The footsteps paced by. The boy on the wall didn’t dare look down.
Then they were gone.
“Wings and curses.” He muttered. His fingers ached at the stain of not moving. He carefully shifted his weight to his toes before reaching for his next handhold.
In a few more endless seconds he caught the edge of the roof. It took a bit of an ungraceful scramble, but, at last, he rolled onto the shingles.
Time to shuffle off to bed. Still, he lay for a moment, staring up at the star-spangled sky. The heavy fog of early had rolled away.
“What a beautiful piece of mischief. Thanks, my good firefly.” Ari propped himself up on his elbows. A smirk glinted in his eyes. “I’d recommend we don’t try this every night.”

July 20, 2026 at 3:00 pm #212716Lol. Gotcha.
Wilhelm
“I got a gauntlet to the face. It was not bad, although it did bleed profusely. My mother, worried it would heal crookedly, set it with fire tongs – cool of course.” His grimace melted to a laugh. “It was the closest I ever want to come to the end of those.”
His laugh was cut short by the distinct sound of a throat clearing. Wilhelm’s back stiffened, and his shoulders squared. He pivoted, facing the servant with a neutral expression.
The man squinted at the two boys. His pale face was quite washed out by the somber doublet half the servants wore.
“Curfew has been called.” He spoke with surprising liveliness. Irritation did bring excitement to most exchanges.
“Yes, goodsir.” Wilhelm nodded. “My friend and I were walking to our rooms. ” He turned to Wolfgang before the stranger could question anything. “Good night, Wolf. Will I see you in the morning?”

July 20, 2026 at 3:28 pm #212717Moth
“Are you alright, my good gentleman?” Moth stood over Ari, peering down at him with equal parts amusement and concern. One of his antennae fell loose from under his hair, and fluttered a little in the wind. “That was harrowing, I must say.”
…
July 20, 2026 at 4:46 pm #212718Ari
What looked like a feathery lock of hair–well not exactly hair– fluttered over Moth’s forehead. Ari grinned. The boy was a glowing fairy, whatever that meant.
“Quite. Though,” his expression turned thoughtful as he pushed himself to his feet. “Not as harrowing as running with two brothers and a pack of wolves on your heels. That was fun.”
He turned to follow the edge back to the eaves over his balcony. With a parting, “Rainë ar almë to you, Firefly. If you need a knife or a fist call for me.” He disappeared over the ridgepole.

He grinned. “I’ll see you bright and early, I’ll come wake you up if you like,” he added with a grin.

July 20, 2026 at 8:47 pm #212721Wilhelm
“Good. I can wake myself.” Meeting for morning devotions before the Sanctum every morning had him quite comfortable with the early dark hours.
He bowed to Wolfgang and nodded to the servant.
It was pleasant to be alone again. He reached out a hand before he thought about it, tracing the elaborate wainscoting in the halls. His bones ached but not in any way he could describe.
He was shaking by the time he reached his door. Quiet ruled his room, draped in lavender shadows. He dropped his belt into its box and felt some tension leave with the weight of his dagger.
He stood before the low fire. Without sight, without thought, he reached up to where his great sword hung. A small casket sat there. He took it down, turning it in his hands until the lid flipped open.
A deep, ocre light bathed his face. Firelight reflected again from the cord of beads inside the box. They themselves were dark, but streaked with gold.
“The clouds parted between realms…” He began counting the beads one by one through his fingers. “Perfection falls to Rebellion. Bright is the sword of justice, Misery quakes…”

July 20, 2026 at 9:39 pm #212724I likey….
Wolfgang
He whistled a jaunty tune as he hurried down the hall. In his room he stripped off his clothes and pulled on his night shirt and britches. With a running start he cartwheeled over the floor, jumped into the air, and landed with a bounce on the bed. He dove under the covers, and in two minutes he was fast asleep.
