Yessssssss.
Wilhelm
“We will run into others everywhere, but we should be intentional about making and maintaining friendships.” That would mean being social. The thought withered Wilhelm’s enthusiasm, but he steeled himself against it. He was being social now. It never was the conversation that bothered him, just the numbers. “I have an appointment to meet one of the other princes on the field of combat- friendly combat, I think. He seemed a little over-proud, but not ungenerous.”
Which sounded familiar. Wilhelm had to fight off a laugh as he looked over at the boy across from him.
“What skills do you practice? Do you fight? Play instruments? That will be common ground to find with others. Good places to meet others.”

May 14, 2026 at 2:32 pm #211998Speaking of being social
Remington
Seeing so many fresh, wide-eyed faces brought Remington more joy than he ever would have believed.
New kids were always interesting to meet. They all came from different places and cultures, and lived their lives in a way Remington couldn’t imagine. But they all had the same bright, chaotic wonder in their eyes. And any one of them could be a new friend.
Not that Remington ever kept new friends for long. Somehow, the new kids always bonded with each other instead of him. But that made sense; after all, he was already a regular. More of a temporary support.
Students wandered the corridors without rhyme or reason. Shoes sunk into the velvet carpets and thumped against steps. They chattered, talked to themselves out loud, and called out to each other.
Remington leaned against a stair banister. He held a plate of truffles – big pink-filled truffles with gold leaf – and was just about to pop one into his mouth.
A student walking past fell and dropped books all over the floor.
“Oh goodness!” Remington put down his plate and helped the boy pick up. “Good thing you didn’t drop these on the grand staircase. That could have caused an avalanche! Imagine everyone rolling down the stairs like a bunch of pillbugs or marbles. Hehehe! Nobody’s round enough to fall like that, actually. It would be more like dominos. I’m a master at dominos. Did you know it’s a game, not just a box of stuff to set up and knock over?”
“Y-Yes.” The boy held out his hand for a book.
That was a mistake, because Remington took the opportunity to grasp his hand and shake it vigorously. “Remington LaCreux. King-Designate of Surabond! That’s me.”
“Hi. I’m C-Callum.”
The boy didn’t look like he had friends yet. That had to be remedied. “You must be new around here! Please, ask for me if you need anything. You don’t have to hang out with me, necessarily, but I know everyone around here. That’s practically my job, even though no one assigned me to it. I’m thinking about asking the headmaster to start a welcome committee. But back to the important bit – I can find you a club!”
“…What?”
“What do you like? Board games? Fencing? Horse-riding? Drawing? Hiking? Hunting? Knife-sharpening? Tennis? Cycling? Woodworking? Theater? Astronomy? Reading? Swimming? Archery? Music? Birdwatching?? BEEKEEPING???”
Remington grabbed Callum’s collar and shook him for extra emphasis. The boy gave him one look, gaped, and went limp from shock.
“What’s the matter?” Remington asked, worried. “I do declare, you look rather ill… Huh.”
He shook Callum more softly, and got no response. Judging by his physique, clothes, and tanned skin, he was from an arid kingdom. The books beside him had shiny covers, and strange titles like The Art of Taste and Master LeQroi’s Mysteries.
Remington got an idea. He took a truffle from his forgotten plate on the floor, and plopped it into Callum’s mouth. The boy’s eyes drifted open, as he savored the beautiful flavor on his tongue and slowly returned from the dead.
“You like cooking! THAT’S IT!” Remington trumpeted.
Callum went limp again.

May 14, 2026 at 2:40 pm #212000@whalekeeper That rp entry actually made me giggle and kick my feet as I read it, lol. I am in love with these characters.
@people
ok new characters time. Here’s some descriptions/ explanation:
Lucian Stormwatcher
Longish (for a boy) wavy blond hair, light freckles, pointy elf ears, tall and fit, simple grey and brown outfit, brown eyes, wears a sword at his side, has a strange bluish mark on his forehead, around 18 years old
Ellis Stormwatcher
Light blond hair combed away from his forehead, tall and a bit skinny, pointy elf ears, grey outfit with touches of blue, wears a cape and a sword at his side, has a strange symmetrical blue mark on his forehead, light brown eyes, around 16 years old
(Btw these characters are brand new so they and their world are super underdeveloped. Lucian especially. He is like three weeks old.)
Extra magic/ world info: Everyone in Ellis’ world is born with an extra “eye” somewhere on their body (chest, hands, forehead, neck or back), and depending on where it is, it gives the person a magical ability when it opens. (An eye on someone’s forehead gives them visions of different moments in time, an eye on someone’s chest gives them super strength and courage, an eye on someone’s back gives them superhuman awareness of everything currently around them, ect.) A lot of the time, the extra eye never opens, and people are left with an odd birthmark their whole life with no special abilities. That is the case for Lucian, but Ellis’ eye opened at a fairly young age.

May 14, 2026 at 3:03 pm #212008Thx! I cackled more than normal. This is why they say writers fall in love with their side characters more than their main characters. 🤣
He’s like a golden retriever trying to befriend a terrified opossum hehe
Funnily enough, if Remi was an animal, I picture something like an opossum. Just in appearances. Personality-wise, yes, golden retriever all the way. XD
…
Lucien and Ellis make me think of vikings/Norse mythology. Especially with a last name like that. Those birth marks might look a lot like war paint.
It should be interesting to see how Ellis’ powers come into play.

May 14, 2026 at 3:08 pm #212009World building idea: It would be funny if all the characters were mostly clueless about other countries and had no shared knowledge or culture except for LeQroi. His cooking is so legendary and world famous, that everyone knows about him no matter how isolated the country. He’s just that good.

May 14, 2026 at 3:13 pm #212010“Airplanes? Never heard of them. Le Qroi? Oh yeah our castle’s head cook loves that guy. She has his cookbook in its own special locked glass case at home.”
i just think it would be funny

May 14, 2026 at 3:20 pm #212011Wow. Okay. I love Remington so much.
However, he is influencing my sister. She just grabbed me by the shoulders and demanded I add a certain character because she believes it needs to happen.
And so, while I wait for the perfect moment to drop LeQroi’s next, here’s Ari, a character from the history of a WIP my sister and I have been developing for some time. Said histories were only mildly inspired by Silmarilion in that Tolkien made us deeply desire wild mythical histories except with good endings…(I see you Feanor). That said, back to Ari, a character I recommend taking with some caution because…well…he’s a bit wild (although it’s a bit too late for me, dear child). And also because I am terrible at remembering to keep up with role plays.
Ari
VerenionEagleson: Firstborn of Veren’s second wife, he has four older brothers whom he rarely gets along with. Having been born a few years after the Sundering, he is only now beginning to understand what their curse means. Angry, with a guilty sense of justice and struggling to maintain respect for his father, Ari is a bit put out about the world in general. He has thick black hair, blue eyes, a lean frame, and medium light skin tone as well as his father’s height. In fact, he takes after his father in looks nearly as much as in temperament–except for a greater dose of humility. Tends to cut his own hair in whatever method he thinks of at the time: it is currently cut roughly at jawline. Has a copper archer’s ring on his right thumb that he doesn’t know how to use. Terrifyingly good with a spear or javelin. He is sixteen years old and already contemplating disowning his family.Theme songs for him are Wolves of the Revolution by Arcadian Wild and Pale Moonlight by Gray Havens.

May 14, 2026 at 3:27 pm #212012Except I don’t feel like roleplaying as him right now so just imagine he’s sulking in his room.

Hehehehehhe

We love a snarky, rebellious teenager. The energy Ari gives off is palpable, and you haven’t even written him yet.

This must be canon
Can Ellis talk to Callum and Remi?
Sure, go ahead! I’m curious to find out how it will go
