I know this is dreadfully late for a response, but I just saw this. I hope you’re doing better.
Eating disorders are a real struggle, especially as they’re not usually obvious until things start going off kilter.
(Prom the Pre-health student here) First of all, please remember that your body has a natural weight level at which it functions best. That changes with time and needs, but dropping pounds like that isn’t typically a good thing. I know American culture idealizes an ultra slender body, but American culture also idealizes changing how God made us in so many ways. God made you to be most “beautiful” at your own healthy average weight.
If you would like some tips on regaining a normal/good appetite, I’d be happy to share some of my notes from a class that covered this. Mainly you want to get to the point that your body tells you 1)when it needs and 2)what it needs…and 3)you give it what it needs when it needs.
Praying things work out and your doctor is absolutely amazed at your progress. 😉
A cup of tea is cheaper than therapy.
December 28, 2025 at 5:48 pm #209411Thank you! No one else caught the stomach bug, but we did end up with another cold…I think everyone’s nearly over it now though. And I’m praying for you too!

December 28, 2025 at 5:51 pm #209412There are winds projected to be up to 60mph over here, and we have a lot of trees around our house. We’ve lost several to winds before, though in our woods and not on our house thankfully. If anyone’s on here this evening, please say a prayer that no trees fall on our house tonight.

December 28, 2025 at 10:21 pm #209415Thanks! We’re all alive still, and as far as I know, all of our trees are standing. I got a good scare though during the worst of it when my dad gasped and yelled “what just happened”, but he was watching football. XD

December 29, 2025 at 12:20 pm #209421Lol!!! Glad to hear that!

January 7, 2026 at 10:28 pm #209704So update on me.
First, thank you everyone for the messages, I have drafted responses, but never ended up posting any.
My eating habits have been uphill and downhill. I ended up loosing 5 more pounds, but I also have gained 2 since then.
The past few days I’ve been eating better because I went shopping with my mom and we picked out some stuff that I could quickly put together whenever I was hungry. It has helped. I have noticed that I can finally eat more than a tiny meal, and today I ate all my dinner without having to put any away, so I’d say that’s a good sign.
Sorry that this update is not well articulated, whenever I think about it, my thoughts are always kinda like in November I was 130 pounds, and now I’m 117. It’s not healthy, I know it, but at the same time, I have less insecurities. Yet, I also don’t have as much energy anymore between my health issues and this. Sometimes I’m even tempted to try and loose more weight because highschool coxswains have a minimum weight limit of 110, and the closer I am to that, the more boats I can be put into as a coxswain. But at the same time, that would obviously make me underweight, could inhibit my career as a rower, and if my coach knew, she would tell me not to.
So yeah, I know it’s unhealthy, but my mind keeps cycling through thoughts. Idk, my entire life is a mess right now.

Just an idea, but have you tried asking your coach if there is a position you can have right now while you’re unwell?

Currently rowing it out of season,(kinda hard to row when the lake is iced over) but coxing is the position I take when unwell. I coxxed all of fall season, spring season starts in April? Maybe May. I may cox then too, but I’m hoping to at least race a little bit.

That’s good. That helped me a lot, and hopefully it will give you some freedom to make food when you feel like it.
Keep telling yourself food is good for you. I know that’s repetitive but sometimes you have to repetitively verbally tell yourself. If there’s any idea in your head telling you it’s better to lose wait, tell yourself that’s factually untrue.
You’ve got this. Don’t hate yourself for taking time.
I am out of signature ideas
January 8, 2026 at 10:07 am #209716Well duh, lol, I meant when Rowing started up again. ?
Well good, I’m glad you are able to have a position, even if it’s not the one you wanted. And maybe by this spring you’ll be back up, who knows! Hey, that’s something you can tell yourself. Your mind says to loose weight and brings up coxing as an excuse. You tell it that if you eat, you are closer to getting to row. ?
Anyhow, it’s still so cool that you’re on a rowing team. I would love to do that, but we just don’t have one around here. I really got into it after seeing The Boys In The Boat and doing research into the sport after watching the movie. It is a pretty cool one, and I have a thing for water and boats.

January 10, 2026 at 9:22 am #209782Ok so update on Mom.
She had her appointment end of December and we found out that she does have breast cancer. Except it’s stage one I believe. They caught it really really early. It’s not fast growing and pretty small, but we still don’t know a lot about the next steps. She and Dad will have a consolation with the doctor in less than two weeks to discuss the next steps/treatment plan. Hopefully she can just go the surgery route and that the treatment wouldn’t be too long, but we just don’t know a lot right now.
For anyone wondering, I’m doing okay. ? I think I’m not super worried just because Mom and Dad are really trusting God right now and if they’re worried, it isn’t super obvious, lol. We talked about it as a family though last night so we’re all on the same page, which is good.
It’s been really nice to know you guys were praying as we were waiting! <33
