With all that said, I still am trying to figure out all that I believe and why I believe it on these issues. This is also why I want to hear what you have to say for your side, to see if I should maybe reconsider my side, as I am doing with passifism. And maybe in exchange, I can give you a few things to think about for yourselves.

August 19, 2025 at 2:35 pm #205221I understand where you are coming from. I don’t agree with it. but I think that puts us in the same boat. (I’m pretty sure you at least understand where I’m coming from, even if you don’t agree with it.)
I’m totally fine with you not reading the second book btw, so this conversation is totally not about me trying to convince to read it. (I mean, I’m almost half way through but I stopped tagging you because I was pretty sure you wouldn’t want to read it.)
Anyways, I will be really interested to see what you think of the Douglas Bond books. I think he explains things in a better way than I would.
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
August 19, 2025 at 2:48 pm #205222All right. I won’t push it any further on my end, as I don’t want to turn this into a point of division. But yeah, I probably won’t read your second book, as I would be too distracted by this issue. Thank you for understanding and respecting my position.
As an aside, it might be interesting if you added a character like me to the book who is a Christian, but isn’t so sure open rebellion is right. But having some Christians with differing views could help you explore some of these issues and help show the reader why you believe what the characters are doing is right. It’s not necessary as it doesn’t have much to do with Jonathan’s plot, at least in book I.
And I will still try to give you good, helpful feedback for your first book despite our disagreement. Hopefully, I can get that done soon.
I will let you know what I think of the Douglas Bond books after I read them.
Thank you!

August 19, 2025 at 2:54 pm #205223I understand what you’re saying about personal conviction. I believe God is still with you anyway.
I’m trying to respectfully discuss the conviction itself, since you have argued the rebellion in Ellette’s book is a problem. You challenged the morality. You already put morality on the table. Thus, I was under the assumption in my question that you wanted to talk about the moral decision as if you had to make it, not about if God would protect you from having to make that decision.
I feel like something like this:
I don’t believe it would be right to leave the Jews to the Natzis. God wants us to look after the poor and helpless. (Psalm 82:3-4, Isaiah 1:17, and James 1:27, to name a few)
But I couldn’t fight, lie, or rebel openly in good conscience either.
…
I believe it would be right to risk my saftey and disobey the government to protect the Jews. While I would disobey orders to turn Jews over, I would not kill the soldiers, lie to them, or seek to overthrow them. But I don’t believe I need to either. I can’t say exactly what I would do as each situation could be different. I might do my best to keep any information about the jews hidden and redirect the conversation.
doesn’t make any sense.
But if you don’t want to explore the actual moral problem, if you feel it will make you doubt… that’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with that. I can respect your reference to Romans 14:23.
I might not be the best person to talk with anyway, and you might find better conversation with someone older than both of us.
I am out of signature ideas
August 19, 2025 at 2:56 pm #205224Really, I don’t mind if you don’t want to talk about it, I just thought you wanted to.
I am out of signature ideas
August 19, 2025 at 2:56 pm #205225That would be interesting, though as of this point they are not in active rebellion as much as restoration. 😉
Thanks! I’ll look forward to it.
Oh yes, I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them.

TWO MORE AND THATS ALL FOR TODAY
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
August 19, 2025 at 4:59 pm #205227doesn’t make any sense.
Essentially, I’m saying I don’t believe it is right not to help the Jews, but I don’t believe it would be right to do those things to protect them either. So I can trust in God to provide a way of escape where I don’t have to do any of those things to protect the Jews.
Does that make sense?
But yeah, I can see why it would look like I am dodging the question. I’m not against discussing the moral problem. I typically will answer hypothetical questions like this. You asked me what I would do in such a situation. With my beliefs, I believe that would be the right thing for me to do. I suppose I could have gone more into why I believe those things are wrong, though.
If you want to discuss the actual morality of rebellion, I am open to do so. I am curious to know why some Christians believe it is okay to rebel and overthrow governments.
But yeah, maybe it is best if I talk to someone older. I will see what Douglas Bond says in his books.

August 19, 2025 at 9:33 pm #205230Good chapters. Nice touch of action towards the end! And that was a good cliffhanger. ?

TWO CHAPTERS!
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
August 20, 2025 at 4:01 pm #205239Well. That was sad.
Poor Amber… and poor Ron. ?
So was Nathan one of the rebels? And did 210’s explanation mean that the government is on to them? I wasn’t sure if I was reading that right.

August 20, 2025 at 4:10 pm #205240I know. It was.
Nathan is a Sector 1 rebel. They have no connection with the group in Sector 5

August 20, 2025 at 4:12 pm #205241So there’s two rebellions? Didn’t realize that.

August 20, 2025 at 4:14 pm #205242Every Sector will have its little pocket of decent. They might be rebellions, black markets, etc. Nothing as well organized as the group outside Sector 5 that eventually took over Sector 5
