      @joy-caroline

      Aw man, death scenes for our beloved characters are always like a punch in the gut. *sobs* I have some pretty heartwrenching deaths in the Life of Sacrifice series. We writers really are crazy. XD

      *Moans* Yes, it hurts. We writers really are crazy. We create such traumatic scenes despite the suffering they will inevitably give to the reader, character, and ourselves. XD All in the name of a good story! XD

      (But death scenes are also among my favorites. Heart wrenching? Then it must be meaningful. 😉 )

      May I say again that your allegory is going to be awesome? 🙂 I can’t wait to read it someday.

      Thank you! I can hardly wait too. 🙂

      And Amen!

      Who’s your favorite LotR character, if you’ve got one?

      I really liked Gandalf in The Hobbit.

      Ooooo, that’s hard. It’s been awhile since I read The Hobbit. I liked Gandalf a lot, but I think my favorite was either Bilblo or the Elf’s as a whole. They’re just so much fun!

      I know so little of the characters in the other books, other than enough to understand a friend’s fan fic, that I have yet to get to know anybody outside of The Hobbit.

      It’s always been my dream to see a book I’ve written get a beautiful cover. Can’t wait until I can get that cover designed… I actually already have a pretty clear idea in my head of how I would like it to look.

      I can hardly wait for when my books are ready and in lovely covers! When I see one I especially like (or don’t at all), I try to keep note for future reference.

      I have some ideas for the covers, but they’re most of them far from being acted on.

      Yeah, sometimes I get amazing titles popping into my head without actual story ideas to accompany them. XD

      Yes! Like a title idea I had recently where the individual titles for each book in a series make a sentence when put together. But I have no series that it would go with.

      You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

        So, perhaps I was going to write about four of  the characters in my WIP, but once I was done I had about 1,000 word so… I am just going to make a forum post called “4 Characters In the Land Called Miska”.

        You will love what you spend time with.

          @koshka It was better than I expected, although it did have a dreary tone. And I actually don’t know how old Rand’s books are, but I know they’re not new.

          @joy-caroline Thanks! It was actually pretty easy for me.

          Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

              @trahia-the-minstrel

              First off, I’m so sorry it’s taken me so long to reply – life has been crazy this past week.

              That’s so cool Trahia the Minstrel is a character of yours! (I’d been wondering what that name meant, tbh. XD)

              Btw, @joy-caroline are you getting your book traditionally, hybrid, or self-published next year? I love hearing about that whole process!

              I am getting it self-published! Decided to go indie because I wanted all rights to my book, and I wanted the freedom to be able to write the content God wants me to write and not the content a publishing house believes will sell.

              Also, do you guys have any advice for someone trying to set up their website ASAP? I really need website advice! What should I do about all the remaining template posts and things? Should I delete them? And do you thing a downloadable JPEG screensaver will do as a Lead Magnet or Freebie? Also, I’m struggling to write blog posts … and to set up my email newsletter. Any good ideas?

              Not sure if the others may have answered your questions already, but I’ll put in my two cents.

              1) Delete the template stuff. You don’t need them.

              2) Sure! I love screensavers. But you might want to offer more than one. 🙂

              3) You could share about your WIPs, write a review for a book you love, share your favorite music, introduce yourself with a bio post, list out your favorite books/authors, write a devotional thought, share why you write, etc.

              4) Convertkit is great for email newsletters! I use it for mine, and I highly recommend.

                @elfwing

                it is, isn’t it? writing about characters with anger problems has made me more aware of my temper. selfish ones make me see my own flaws.

                Exactly!

                haha hey a good death is better than a romance in my opinion, its such a critical moment in the other characters’ lives, doing it right is so poignant to the plot!

                I must agree. XD

                haha well i wont forgive anyone for killing my favorite characters but i still ask for more XD

                Ikr. Why do we do this to ourselves?

                oh man your poor principal XD

                She puts up with a lot. 🤣

                also, a meme relevant to this that i made based off conversation with @annabelle earlier XD

                Hahaha, I love it!!

                  @godlyfantasy12

                  7 or 8 books!!!?? Wow, girl, I congratulate you on your perseverance!

                  This is your allegorical fantasy series, right? I love allegories. If so, then the Dark One represents the devil?

                  @devastate-lasting

                  So cool! You don’t know how many times I’ve wished teleportation was real. XD

                  @jodi-maile

                  AHHH THANK YOU!

                  That sounds like so much fun, cowriting a story with your sister!

                  I totally get you with the whole hating your writing and the plot holes thing. I already know the first draft of WFR that I’m working on has so many plot holes. I comfort myself with reminders that I’ll fix them in edits, that’s what edits are for anyways. XD

                  Enemies to friends is one of the best tropes! I like it better than enemies to lovers. And I love iconic duos, too!

                    Indeed to all of this!

                    Same here. I hope to read The Fellowship of the Ring sometime soon… but yeah, it probably won’t be soon. XD I have so many books already on my tbr.

                    I can hardly wait for when my books are ready and in lovely covers! When I see one I especially like (or don’t at all), I try to keep note for future reference.

                    Good idea! I like scrolling through historical fiction book covers and imagining what would work for my own book.

                    Yes! Like a title idea I had recently where the individual titles for each book in a series make a sentence when put together. But I have no series that it would go with.

                    That sounds like such a cool idea for the titles! Who knows, maybe sometime you’ll get a series idea that’ll go with the titles.

                      Thx!! So this one isn’t my Allegorical fantasy fiction but it does have some allegorical elements, such as the Dark One representing the Devil and other things, God is in it, but it’s not based on a Bible story.

                      but the fantasy world they’re in is the same world my Allegorical Fantasies take place in (almost like how our Bible stories work, that’s their history too) if that makes sense.

                        @joy-caroline

                        Yeah, the characters are really fun. (By the way, I love the part in the end where the book offhandedly mentions his later use for the ring to avoid unwanted visitors. XD)

                        Sometime I’ll read them too. Whenever sometime is.

                        I also have trouble being satisfied with a cover idea(hopefully that just means I haven’t found the right one, there’s time to sort it out anyway).  However, I did recently have an idea for my allegorical series’ cover that I really, really like.

                        Of course it would be a bit of hard work, 🙄 but it seems to suit the work.

                        It uses some symbolisms like chains, burning buildings, and a large shield carried in each covers (the shield of faith), as well as showing each of the characters and hinting at their struggles.

                        And since I have gotten onto a rant, here’s a description of what each charrrie looks like.

                        Alwin: tallish but smallish with black hair, strait nose, and dark blue eyes.

                        William: tall and broad shouldered with brown hair, roman nose, hazel/green-brown eyes, and square jaw.

                        Winifrith: shortish and light with long reddish blonde hair, blue-green eyes, and small tilted nose.

                        Aethelthryth: not tall and is built like her mother, has long black hair, dark blue eyes… basically her father’s coloring in her mother’s face, except she has her father’s nose.

                        SO, I have availed myself of your ranting permission. XD

                        Is that similar to how you saw them? (Or whatever vague/not vague idea you had of them.) I’m always curious about how people see my characters.

                        Yes, hopefully I will have a series idea to use the title on. Maybe Eirtan…?

                          Oh, cool! So it’s just like a Christian fantasy, then. I’ve really been enjoying those recently.

                            Cool! Btw, would you consider ever starting a cover design business if you enjoy cover designing? I definitely wouldn’t because although making covers is fun, I’m not so good at it, lol.

                            And since I have gotten onto a rant, here’s a description of what each charrie looks like.

                            I actually had a really clear picture of Alwin XD I pictured him with long, straight, glossy black hair, a black mustache with maybe a little hint of beard on the chin, and almond-shaped black eyes. I also pictured him tall and thin. I guess I was somewhat right? XD

                            William I imagined with red hair, since whenever I hear the name William, I tend to picture red hair. XD Idk why.

                            Winifrith I pictured tall and with blonde hair and blue-green eyes. I’m actually surprised I wasn’t toooo far off on her either!

                            Aethel I pictured as basically a small Winifrith. XD

                            Oooh and now I want to describe my characters from WFR.

                            Russell has straight dark brown hair cut short and sky blue eyes; he’s also clean-shaven. He’s tall and strongly built despite missing his left arm and leg.

                            Eliza has beautiful ebony skin with black hair and dark brown eyes. She’s small and thin, a little less than the average seven-year-old height.

                            Robert has steely blue eyes, short blond hair and a blond mustache, and he’s tall (taller than Russell, who is his younger brother) and thin.

                            Vivienne (Grandmother Campbell) is the source of her sons’ blue eyes (and her husband also had them), and hers are cold like Robert’s. In her youth, her hair was dark blonde before it turned dove gray. She has crow’s feet, but her face is unwrinkled. She’s short and slim.

                            Did you picture my characters any particular way?

                              @joy-caroline @elishavet-pidyon Now I want to describe my characters from Into the Forbidden Cavern! I’ll just do the members of the Starcatcher family for now….. I haven’t done much on the characters yet, I’m still trying to figure out the world, so you’ll notice there’s a bit of “probably” or “I think” in the descriptions.

                              Torrent Starcatcher: The MC of the story. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, is about five feet seven inches, and is the kind of person you’d barely notice in a crowd. I haven’t worked much on her personality yet, but she’s probably going to be a bit strong-willed, considering the whole story’s plot…..

                              Hunter Starcatcher: Torrent’s dad. He actually looks nothing like her, except for his calm blue eyes. He has long black hair–if you’re a Star Wars or Marvel person, think something a bit like Kylo Ren or Loki–and I’m pretty sure he’s clean-shaven, or maybe whatever facial hair he has is barely noticeable. He’s probably going to be the kind but fierce sort of character (he didn’t get his name for nothing).

                              Crossfire Starcatcher: Torrent’s cousin. He’s one-quarter ailurid* (his maternal grandmother was one), and he’s tall, with brown eyes, and his tan-brown hair has a gray streak, even though he’s only 19 or 20–probably because of his ailurid lineage. He got his name because he’s a soldier, and probably will be pretty daring, and most likely got caught in literal crossfire at least once.

                              Beaumont: The character who starts the whole story into motion. He’s a cat, yes, a pale ginger tabby with a blind right eye, but he’s very intelligent and can write. That’s how he “talks” throughout the story. He was once a stray, but Torrent rescued him after he hurt his eye in a fight.

                              *Ailurids and humans can intermarry and have kids, and dragonmen and raptaurs can do the same, but dragonman/human, dragonman/ailurid, raptaur/human or raptaur/ailurid pairings wouldn’t work, because the genetics of raptaurs and dragonmen are more reptilian, while the blood of ailurids is more mammalian and is thus more compatible with human genetics. Interbreeding is strongly discouraged by all four species, however. Crossfire’s mother, Feather Starcatcher/Feather Tail (to use both her human and ailurid names), is an exception to the rule.

                              Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

                                Agh, WFR sounds FANTASTIC!!! I’m already rooting for Russel and Eliza. XD

                                Well, my WIPs are progressing minimally at the moment. However, my brain is still cooking up and mulling over scenes for my Biblical fiction series (And side books). And Simon (the Zealot). AH, I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. XD (Joining @elfwing in evil author laughter…) My absolute favorite thing about him (currently) is his redemption moment. It’s technically a spoiler, but I want to tell somebody so bad (and it probably won’t appear in the actual novel, so…)

                                I think I already told you a bit about him, but his entire past, from his earliest memories to the present day, was a maze of pain and betrayal. He refuses to trust anyone, and he turns to alcohol as a way to escape reality. When we meet him, he’s in a tavern, drinking himself into a stupor, The bartender, who is a very complex character I have not yet delved deeply into, advises him to talk to a rabbi, saying, “He can help you put your life back together.” Simon responds with, “A rabbi couldn’t do anything for me. It’d take God Himself to fix this life.”

                                AND THEN, WITHIN A FEW HOURS, GOD IN FLESH SHOWS UP TO FIX HIS LIFE!!!!!!!

                                XDXDXDXDXD

                                *ahem*

                                Please pardon the crazy author rant. That scene just makes me so happy. 😛

                                  Hi! I don’t think we’ve met yet. I’m Lydia. 🙂 Welcome (very belatedly) to the KP forum! As a side note, I saw you’re a fan of J.A.’s Persuasion, and I am, too! XD I think it’s my favorite J.A. book. 😀
