@hallie-jean Ohhh, that sounds really cool! I like seven seas vibes š
Hey, same! A few of my books cross into historical fiction too!
I’ve been writing for… well, I can’t remember how long! I started taking writing seriously about 1-2 years ago.. and now I have seven books laid out before me XD. I’ve learned that writing is such an amazing thing, I used to be the type who didn’t like writing (it hurt my hand in grade school since I had weak hand muscles and so I didn’t like that we had to write all the time XD) but I love writing so much now. I can express the worlds in my head, finally!

i'll make the winter now my homeFebruary 7, 2021 at 9:30 pm #91855@joy-caroline Hello!!! That’s so cool!!! I love that you’re living for Jesus by writing Christian novels! And the devotional sounds amazing too!
I love pasta and spicy stuff! I actually plan on readingĀ To Kill a Mockingbird for my first time this year! Some of my favorite artists are Imagine Dragons, Tobymac, For King and Country and a few others I can’t think of rn! XD But I also am a fan of Hamilton (haven’t seen it only heard some of the songs) I love pizza! And I really like The Witch of Blackbird Pond and theĀ Keeper of the Lost CitiesĀ book series!
@writerlexi1216 Thank you so much! Wanna hear a secret? *lowers voice and leans forward* I actually was on a trip at the time inspiration struck and I decided to write this story. So I came up with my own activity by taking road signs and making names out of the words! I don’t remember where Daren’s came from but I know Molly’s came from the word “miles” and Xavier’s came from the word “exit.”Awww! Caira is such a beautiful name! Does it have a special meaning??

February 7, 2021 at 9:32 pm #91856@scripter-of-kingdoms I totally understand! I used to now understand it! How could people want to just write words and exhaust their hands?? But then I read a fantasy book when I was around nine years old, and it completely changed my point of view! And I’ve been writing ever since!

February 8, 2021 at 11:04 am #91867@hallie-jean Aw, thank you!
Yeah, dialogue is great! I use it more often than description to develop characters.
My favorite part about writing is probably plot twists and endings! I really like endings, haha.
Do you tend to plot or make everything up as you go?
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 8, 2021 at 1:25 pm #91876@devastate-lasting Endings are so much fun to write!!! Though usually I’m even surprised by the turnout!
I do a little plotting and making things up along the way. I usually start a story and end up writing an outline later that I don’t really stick to XD My pirate story doesn’t have an outline or anything except for the general idea in my head! So I guess I mostly just make things up as I go. Gives me surprises and things to look forward to along the way!
Do you like plotting? Or are you more of a make-it-up-as-you-go kind of person??

February 8, 2021 at 2:17 pm #91891@hallie-jean Oh same here! Most of the time I make it up as I go, barely following my poor outline, haha…
Are there any genres that you’d be interested in writing in?
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 8, 2021 at 3:31 pm #91907*lowers voice and whispers back* Whoa, seriously? That’s anĀ amazingĀ way to come up with character names! I came up with mine because of a TV show I watched. I liked one of the main character’s names, so I tweaked it a little and that’s how it came out. Isn’t it weird how inspiration strikes at the most random times??? I’ve learned to keep a notebook (or something to write on) handy with me so that I can quickly write things down š
February 8, 2021 at 4:18 pm #91915@devastate-lasting Haha! I guess it doesn’t matter as long as you actuallyĀ write the story, huh?
This is a great question! Lately, I’ve been wanting to try sci-fi or dystopian bc I’ve heard so many great things about the genres! I also had a few more contemporary romance/fiction ideas.
@writerlexi1216 I seriously LOVE your character’s name! It’s mysterious and has a bit of edge to it! I guess the one of the fun parts to writing is where your inspiration comes from! It’s what makes your story unique! And isn’t it funny how you always seem to have a ton of notebooks, but when you need to write something down, suddenly it’s like you have none?? I always am looking for new notebooks! Got to put all the inspiration somewhere!!!
@to-no-one-in-particular I’m never been in the process of publication or anything, but I was just curious if there’s a certain amount of pages or words your story has to have to be consider a book. Is there?? Does anyone know??? If so, I’d like to know bc I’m just curious XD

February 8, 2021 at 4:31 pm #91919@hallie-jean Oo, that’s sounds cool! Good luck!
There are different types of books! Novels, novellas, all are different lengths! And word counts depend on genres too! I would say that personally, a novella is probably around 30k to 50k, while a novel is maybe 60k and above. You can also find out more by searching it up!

If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 8, 2021 at 5:07 pm #91925@devastate-lasting Oh! Thank you so much for answering my random question, haha!!!
Have you ever finished a book before??
Proverbs 16:2
February 8, 2021 at 5:09 pm #91926@hallie-jean *pained smile* Yep! Don’t know if it can be counted as finished though, just first drafts, all the way…I’ve yet to finish a book on the computer, though. I tend to handwrite more.

Thank you!
I AM THRILLED YOU’RE GOING TO READ TKAM! *coughs* Sorry, I get REALLY excited whenever anyone says they’re gonna read it. It is SUCH a good book!
You should watch Hamilton on Disney+. It really is phenomenal when you see the choreography.
My grandfather gave meĀ The Witch of Blackbird PondĀ as a Christmas gift and I remember it being so full of tension! Haven’t read it in quite a while, but now that you’ve mentioned it, I really should read it again.
And by the way, I have a good friend whose name is also Hallie!
February 8, 2021 at 7:50 pm #91941@devastate-lasting At least you’ve finished the first draft! That is something that I have yet to do! XD
And you usuallyĀ hand writeĀ your stories?? That’s so cool! I typically use my computer. Gotta try hand writing sometime, sounds interesting!
@joy-caroline I really can’t wait! It’s on the top of my TBR list, right after I finish theĀ Heros of OlympusĀ series andĀ The Unwanteds. I stillĀ haven’t finish them bc I’ve been reading some other books. There’s just too many good stories out there! š And I should really read TWoBP again!
It’s so funny you have a friend named Hallie too!!! It’s a good name! š
What’s your current WIP?? If you feel comfortable sharing that is . . . š

Yay! That’s true, there are so many books I’ve been wanting to read that I haven’t gotten to yet. š I reread TKAM every Saturday, it’s kind of my tradition, lol. My Sabbath rest activity, pretty much. That’s when I do most of my reading, since I’m busy the whole rest of the week!
Hallie is a good name! XD
*sheepish grin* You have no idea how much I enjoy rambling about my WIPs. I could talk all day about them if I did not restrain myself.
Here’s the blurb for my latest WIP,Ā The AnointedĀ (it’s a pretty loose blurb, since I have literally next to no idea where this story is going, lol):
When only three years old, heās abandoned and dumped at a āshelter for orphans.ā Thatās where he meets Temira, a gentle deaconess who becomes his new mother. Carried to her home, he is nursed back to health with the help of her brother Paul, a strange man others call an apostle.
Mama and Uncle Paul rename him Seth, informing him he is anointed of their God, Jesus Christ. Though not knowing what that means, Seth enjoys his new name, forgetting his old one. But it isnāt long before his new life brings new trauma. With horrible events etched in his mind, he gives up belief in the God his uncle preaches. To dull the pain, he forms a friendship with a young girl named Jerusha ā whom no one else can see.
When more tragedy strikes, Seth finally decides to take matters into his own hands and discover his real self. In the process, he finds another young friend ā a girl who is, coincidentally, also named Jerusha.
With Jerusha alongside him, Seth begins to unveil the harrowing details of his past. Mama and Uncle Paul can never know his true identity, but itās only a matter of time until they find out. What will happen then? And where does Jesus Christ ā whom Uncle Paul calls love ā exist in all this?
The AnointedĀ is a story of compassion, suffering, and unconditional love ā the story of one insignificant life anointed by God to save an empire.
I have NO idea where I’m going with the Jerusha storyline. I’m thinking of… maybe… making her Seth’s long-lost sister?
So yeah, that’s what I’ve been working on!
February 8, 2021 at 8:31 pm #91946@joy-caroline WOW that soundsĀ amazing!!! When you’re finished, I’ll have another book to add to my TBR list!!!
I totally understand rambling about your WIP!!! I’d do it all day if no one stopped me XD
Do you have a favorite character you’ve created??
BTW I love reading about Paul! He’s such a good biblical figure!!!
