Hi @elanor
I love LOTR too! And my name came from my current WIP, actually😊 I have a character called Tráhia the Minstrel
The bird is a Takahe, and it’s native to New Zealand.😊
Nice to meet you! Can I friend you?

That’s my wish to create.October 17, 2021 at 12:27 pm #106198That’s cool. Did you make up that name or find it elsewhere? What’s her role in the book?
Okay it was New Zealand lol
You sure can. 😁

October 17, 2021 at 2:38 pm #106203Welcome to the forum! I also play the piano and violin and have an ocarina (I wouldn’t say that I can really ‘play’ it)! I have also been homeschooled my whole life and am a LOTR fan. I am a Christian fantasy writer as well, but haven’t worked on my WIP in a long time.
Now some questions for you (sorry if any of these have been asked already):
1) Do you have any pets?
2) What do you like to do besides write and draw?
3) What is your favorite movie?
4) If you had to become an animal, what animal would you choose to be?
I live on a farm so I have a lot of “pets” and enjoy reading, writing, taking pictures of the animals, creating things with Legos, spending time with my family, and doing pretty much anything outside. I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the Wingfeather Saga, although it would be impossible to say what my favorite book is. My favorite movie is either The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe or How to Train Your Dragon. If I had to become an animal, I would probably want to be either a cheetah, lion, or dolphin. Once again, welcome!

October 17, 2021 at 3:28 pm #106206Hi @morgan !
Thanks for the welcome. In answer to your questions, I don’t have any pets currently, but my family used to own two adorable lop bunnies named Fluff and Dots.
Besides writing and drawing, I love playing with my older siblings whenever they’re home, and telling my little sister stories. I LOVE reading! Mostly anything I can! And I also enjoy learning Japanese and watching suitable animes in Japanese.😁 (With English subtitles) I also love Narnia and the Wingfeather Saga … my only question now is whether or not I can afford to be enough of a nerd to get the newly illustrated versions when I already have the original copies.
My favourite movie? Definitely the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. There was a period of my life in which I watched it every second Saturday with my dad, and now I can basically quote every single line, almost.😂
What animal? Um … I think it’d be pretty cool to be like a falcon or an eagle, but I mean, dolphin is also a pretty cool option …😉
Anyway, nice to meet you!

That’s my wish to create.October 18, 2021 at 4:36 am #106253Hey, @elanor ! Sorry for the late reply.
I made up the name — and then found out that one of my grandfather’s names was Trahier afterward.😂
She’s a side character who occasionally pops up and isn’t on anyone’s side — she’s a minstrel, and it’s bad business for minstrels to pick sides, according to her.
Tbh, she’s one of my favourite characters cause any time I have a boring scene, I just put her in it and it instantly becomes interesting. She writes herself😄. I originally intended her to be shy, and she somehow turned out flirty. I have no idea where she’s gonna end up.😊 That’s what makes her fun.

She sounds like a great character.
Yeah, it’s funny how characters can completely change from how you originally introduced them and intended them as.

October 19, 2021 at 5:51 pm #106398@trahia-the-minstrel In answer to your question “who doesn’t love dragon people”…..My brother. He calls them “weirdos.” I don’t know why.

October 19, 2021 at 6:43 pm #106411@keilah-h Brothers, am I right?😂 S’fine, my older brother loves to tease me about the name I made up in a Paper Mario fan fic of mine for a technological sphere that could be used like a super computer to destroy every world in the multi-world existence of my story — I called it…
DRUMROLL …
The S.D. Sphere.
Short of self-destruction sphere. Basically a sphere that controlled all the world’s self destruct buttons.
My brother won’t let it go. He loves ripping me out about it, that and my solution — the Creative Light Star😂

October 25, 2021 at 9:58 am #106569Regrettably I don’t have a younger sister to tell stories to, however, that sounds like a wonderful way to hone in your story telling/book writing skills.
I can basically quote The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe as well. I have seen it way too many times!
Ooh. An eagle would be cool! Come to think of it, I should add a bird to my list so that I could fly. 😉 How about if I I just combined being a lion and an eagle – an eagon?

October 26, 2021 at 3:20 pm #106593Such a good movie! And Eagons sound cool — but I thought that a cross between a lion and and eagle was a griffin? But we should totally rename them …😁

November 2, 2021 at 8:42 pm #106949Hey, I am suuuper sorry for my late response.
THAT IS SO COOL!!!!! But, you have to finish the false prince series! It’s my absolute favorite!! Ooo yes, I can definitely see that!!! I was actually thinking about how similar your story sounded to the false price when you talked about it!!!
YES!!!! I’d love that too!!!
OooOOoOOOooooOOo I LOVE THAT!!!!!!!! 😍 It sounds like it’s gonna be a totally epic site!!!! *high fives*
Aaah I totally see!! Well, personally, I think it looks great and you’re doing an awesome job with it!! I see some people give away free short stories as an incentive to sign-up for blog updates. Maybe that might be something to look into/help give you some ideas?
Oooo totally lemme know what you think!!!! I’ve been trying to improve Teen Writers’ Nook, so I’d love to hear your thoughts.
YES THE PEVENSIES ARE AWEESOME!!!!!! For me, I’d probably want to join the Baggins. 😉
YES I LOVE THOSE PICKS!!!!!!!! Samwise, is hands-down my favorite character from LOTR. And I think Luke Skywalker is my favorite from Star Wars (but I just absolutely LOVE Obi-Wan!!)!
YESSS!!!!! I’d honestly LOVE to learn Hebrew too, so I’m taking that one for my pick. Then we could actually read the Old Testament in its native language! That’d be epic!!
I’ve heard a LOT of awesome things about Andrew Peterson, and have been really meaning to read his books for a while now. I think Jennifer Nielsen scores it as favorite author for me.
Hahahaha, I’m just impressed you could actually give an answer. That’s a REALLY tough question. I have no idea what the earliest book I remember reading was, but I’m just going to say Dick and Jane because it was probably something like that.
YES!! It’s SUPER awesome to meet you too. Oooo I’m working on multiple different projects at once. There’s my short story I’m editing, Fury of Our Flame, my NaNoWriMo 2021 novel, but I’m going to just stick with my main project which is a YA medieval fantasy novel titled Heir to His Crown. It’s about Prince Keenum, whose country was overthrown when he was a child and his father was killed. He grew up a prisoner within his own kingdom, but now he is ready to take back his throne. The story is the first in a three-book saga, following the story of him rising up from the ashes, fighting the darkness, and freeing his kingdom from the tyrannical hand of King Valdork. I’m about to go into the fourth draft for it, and it’s currently being beta-read. But I’m hoping afterward, when it’s all polished and edited, to send it off to publishers!

TeenWritersNook.comNovember 2, 2021 at 10:48 pm #106950Hey @issawriter7 !
Yeah, I love writing stories about royalty! It’s super fun!
I’ve checked out teen writer’s nook. Seems like a cool website, and I couldn’t help but grin at the countdown to the latest book in the Ascendance series. (that is what it’s called, right?)
I’ve managed to make a freebie that should do for the time being — it’s a screensaver picture of Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild that I drew. Hopefully I’ll get my website up this week or next! I just need to write a couple of blogs and get someone to help me with the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy and the Copyright stuff. (All of which I know zero about 😂)
I like the sound of Heir to His Crown! Are you going for traditional publishing? How long is manuscript in word count? Because if you’re going for traditional, there’s a few really good resources I could recommend to help you know what agents and publishers want (I’ve been researching this heaps as I want to be traditionally published.)
Yeah, my book’s in 3rd draft and currently being beta read. It’s meant to be YA medieval fantasy too, but it’s like a whooping 180k words. So yeah. I’m gonna have to trim it a bit before agents will be willing to touch it
…By the way, I don’t suppose you’d be interested in participating in my beta read, would you? I normally give people a month to read it and get back to me with feedback. And I’m looking for overall feedback, like plot holes, or places that felt boring, or anything that seemed like it could be cut or didn’t make sense, etc, not a line/grammatical edit.
I could beta read for you too, if you wanted.😊
If you don’t, that’s cool too. I’m okay with whatever works for you.😊
Thanks for the compliments about my website! I can’t wait to get it up and fully functional — I’m still learning how to actually use the posting system😅

That’s my wish to create.November 17, 2021 at 12:07 pm #107343It IS!!!!
YAAY!!!! Oooo I am SOO glad to hear that. Lol, see? I told ya I am a HUGE fan of the Ascendance Series (Yup, that’s what it’s called.) When I first started blogging, a lot of my readers joked about how I had to mention The False Prince at least once in every post. It was my “signature posting style.” 😂
THAT’S AWESOME!!!!! Screensavers are THE best!!! WOOHOOO!!! Ooo I hope everything’s able to work out. To be honest, I know nothing about that kinda stuff either, which is why none of my blogs have a terms and conditions and privacy policy page. 😂 I don’t see a lot of blogs that do, so I figured it wasn’t too important. XD
Awww THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Yup, that’s what I’m hoping for is to be able to traditionally publish it. But I think I’m going to look into smaller publishers. This will be the third novel I’ve ever queried, so I’m hoping for much better results than the last ones. *crossing fingers* When I’m finished with all my edits, it should be about 90K. Oooo yes, please do send them on!!!! Lol, I feel you. I’ve done tons of research into this stuff, but I’m ALWAYS on the lookout for more info!!!!!!! And I do hope traditional publishing works out for you. YOU’VE GOT THIS!!!!!
YES TO YA MEDEIVAL FANTASY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And FANTASTIC work you’ve done so far on your manuscript!!! Whoa 180K? HOW do y’all writers manage to write books that long? I’m always having to add to my story because it’s too short. 😂
Oooo yes I’d ABSOLUTELY BE SO HONORED AND WOULD LOVE to beta read your manuscript!!!!!!!!!! (That is if I’m not too late and the offers already moved on. Which I’d understand since my response time is terrible.) Okay, so you’re wanting basically what a developmental/content editor would do? Gotcha. This will be great since I’m trying to strengthen my developmental editing since it’s my weaker side between that and line editing.
I kinda have this crazy, weird, and will probably never happen dream to be a freelance editor…Oooo, girl, I’m never one to turn down a beta reader!!! Currently, I don’t have anything I’m taking betas in on (my Heir to His Crown betas are about to finish up and since we’ve been going through beta reading since May, I don’t know if you’d be able to read and complete it before the end of the year which is kinda what I’m hoping for from the rest of my betas). But I am considering opening beta reading up for a novelette of mine soon, if you’re interested, I’ll let you know when it opens up.
YESSS I can’t wait till it goes up too!!!!!!!!!!
