Hello, and nice to meet you!
a smattering of poetry
I’ve written some myself. What kind of poetry do you like to write?
I’m also a historical clothing/culture nerd, hand-crafting enthusiast
Historical clothing is filed under my obsession with compiling outfits. Dressing characters is so very fun, and drawing, even more so. What period(s)/culture(s) do you like? What do you craft?
My current WIP is about a book-loving boy, a begrudging elderly faerie, a bit of magic glass, and the wild world that threatens them all…among other things. Such as cookies. Oh, and an accidental prophecy. But that part’s not very important.
Wanna read. Sounds like a perfect cozy fantasy, and I especially love the tidbit about magic glass. Glass in fantasy always has a twist to it I feel like. And you can never go wrong with cookies. They go especially well with accidental prophecies, I hear, though I’ve never tried it myself.
If you could ride a dragon for a day, or own a horse for life, which would it be?
Horse. It’s so elegant and free and overall cool to ride a horse I feel like, and even though I’ve only ever done the kiddie rides, if I knew how to ride one, I think I’d really enjoy it. Dragons are cool, but I feel like I might fall off – at least with a horse it’s not so far a drop lol
Do Jellybeans qualify as food?
I… don’t love jellybeans, so I’m not the best person to ask, but my instinct is you eat it, so it’s a food, right?
I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen... because by it I see everything else
October 21, 2026 at 10:16 pm #214629I would love one day, when I have an actual job, to wear outfits with vintage elegance that slacks naturally have.
The dream, for sure.
I WANT A TRENCH COAT SO BAD WDYM YOU HAVE 3?!
I acquired them almost accidentally. I’m just as surprised as you are. XD
Any tips for thrifting?
This might be generic advice, but my best tip is to check multiple thrift stores and get familiar with what treasures each store usually holds. There’s the place with good rings, another with nice clothes, another with all the old music boxes… And get familiar with how quickly each store is raided and when they get new stuff in. You don’t have to track times or anything – just get a sense of how often you should check a store.
And do you like steampunk? The three-piece suit suggests you might.
Yes! It’s practically impossible to make a steampunk outfit without cosplay skills, but yes.
… yes *cries* especially with hair. I have wavy hair now, but I used to treat it like it was still straight… not a good look.
Ugghhh, hair. I still don’t understand hair. I know God gave us all beautiful unique hair, but it makes it difficult to style. Or just clean. What shampoo to use, what products promote healthiness, etc.
I love 1950s fashion btw
Unrelated, but the 1950s had great car models too. Bring back the best fashion elements and the cars. Don’t bring back everything, but let’s bring back those.
I need to do some more exploration myself, but that’s what I’ve got.
Several of those are familiar. I’ll check them out.
We both have a character named Enid? Awesome! I love the name so much. What’s your character’s personality?
It’s such a colorful name. Pastel green with chrome trimmings.
She’s actually from a fantasy story with a partly 1950s aesthetic! Weird coincidence that we were talking about that. :] I keep using the word charismatic for my Enid. She’s smart and tricky and empathetic. She has that personality everyone flocks to at a party, but that’s only a part of her, and I love discovering more about her.
What about your Enid? What’s she like?

Ah! Another poet, I see. I tend to write stuff with a strong pattern, even if that pattern isn’t always as clear as a rhyme scheme (although I do tend to use rhyme, meter, alliteration, all those good things). It mainly just depends on the texture of the poem I’m writing. And they do tend to have rather distinct textures (at least to me).
What about you?

*GASP* Joyous felicity! A chance to rant about historical clothing. Ah, but I must be brief.
My favorite time periods are usually more on the ancient side (especially when paired with interests in archeology) but I’d say my favorites are probably between 11th century, 14th century, 16th century, and later 1800’s. For cultures: Saxon, Norse, Rus, German, Roman, Jewish, Danish, Slavic…yeah.
Since I started digging into clothing history I have sewn and/or collected: an full American 1860’s work-day ensamble besides boots, an English 1815’s regency formal ensamble including dancing slippers, a costume based off 1430-80’s France with a hennin. I also have leather 1750’s American stays which will hopefully be used in a colonial working-class ensamble, and my latest (and current) project is a full character costume for my current WIP (based on 16th century Germany), so I’ve been drafting a pattern for a smocked or gathered shift (not sure yet which I want to do) and a kirtle/dirndl, and have a tablet woven sash in progress. I’m also hoping to make a pair of turn shoes. Of course, I’ve had the material for the shift and kirtle since end of August but haven’t had time to jump in.
I crochet, tablet weave, and sew. I’ve done cross stitch and will need to figure out embroidery for my character costume. I’d like to learn knitting some day… *Gazes off into distance*
What about you?
Wanna read.
Why thank you. Me too. XD
I just have to finish writing it first.Bother.And you can never go wrong with cookies.
My thoughts exactly. And I am trying it now, or poor dear Liam is.
Horse.
Ah, good choice. I wouldn’t like to fall either, but I honestly don’t know which I’d pick.
I… don’t love jellybeans, so I’m not the best person to ask, but my instinct is you eat it, so it’s a food, right?
I…also do not love jellybeans. Thus the question.
