Mateo didn’t even know what school was? Celarent sighed. “It’s where you learn stuff. If you want to get anywhere in life, you better figure that out.” He paused. “Oh, right. You aren’t going anywhere in life anyway.” Mateo ought to get expelled. Celarent hadn’t spent days forging paperwork just to attend class with a dead man who didn’t even know how this worked, and whose hobbies were threatening murder. Of course, he’d threatened murder before too, but that was different.

Chase got up, leaving his soda can beside where he was sitting. He retrieved Felicity’s can, planning to throw it away in the proper place later. He sat back down again.
“L-like s-sun…sat?” Chase was quiet and still for a moment, before turning to look at Felicity. He had formed his eyes into a reflection of a bright sunset. “L-like t-this?”

The two tiles had broken up, pieces scattered across the hallway. Leo knelt to pick up a piece. It’s edge was rough, sharp enough to cut skin. Porcelain then. Although it had been broken by a metal filing cabinet. So not quite porcelain.
Hmm…he still had a bottle of sealant, and his touch. The air conditioner hadn’t needed much to stop the leak. No knowing where he’d even find replacement tile.
He glanced up at Rory. “You wearing those gloves, kid?”
Rory nodded, lifting his begloved hands.
“Good. Looks like we’ve got a jigsaw puzzle.”
